    I recently bought a Casio w-736h with a negative display. Already have that same model with positive display and I love the functionality, ease of use, readability and comfort. I bought the negative display one knowing that it is difficult to read because I will buy adapters to put on a black NATO strap for a total black out look. It won’t be a daily watch but occasionally it will be great.

      Great idea. I'm sure it will look slick as a blackout watch.

    You are not alone. I was "forced" to buy one and it is so annoying. So many watches get crossed off my list due to the negative display.

      Yeah I'm learning to cross watches off my list because of the negative display. I guess it helps me to save money 😅

    I’m done too.
    I had the strength to buy just one. I reviewed it and I plan to keep it as a reminder not to ever buy another one.
    Thanks for this video, I really identify with your situation.

      Yet I'm always tempted when I see a nice watch with a negative display 😆

    Im done ages ago. Negative displays are useless! You might as well just wear a bracelet instead.

      Yeah! I bought one for my son’s b-days couple some years back, basically the 5610, but with neg display and Bluetooth enabled and after looking at it on his wrist I realized it was really hard for to read the time. He still wears it every now and then, but not as often as his other Casios or mechanicals. No more negative displays in this family!
      BTW, @ This Small Wrist, your voice and presentation style reminds me A LOT of Chris from Hello From Hawai’i, has anyone ever mentioned that to you? YT just recommended your channel to my feed today, and you’ve got a new sub. Keep up the great content!

    I got an after market GAW 100-B, and before buying it I was seriously concerned as so many people complained in internet about negative displays.
    For this model in particular, I am able to read it both during the day and in the dark with the light on. So I`m grateful.
    But CASIO should offer watches that people don`t have to worry about this king of issue. This kind of video HAS to reach CASIO, who should listen their customers feedback.

      @thissmallwrist  Месяц назад +1

      Like I said, Casio can continue with the negative displays, but it would be nice if they offered positive displays too

    Most of the negative displays are not so good. I have trouble reading them. The only one that I really like is on the AE 1500. It seems to be pretty easy to read. I always try to buy a positive display. but sometimes the negative display is a little bit cheaper online.

  • @ianmaw66
    @ianmaw66 Месяц назад +1

    In my experience they vary. The GW-9400 and GX-56 negative displays are terrible in my opinion, while some of the 6900s have negative displays with thicker digits which are much more readable. The only really readable negative displays in all lighting conditions are those with MIP displays.

    • @thissmallwrist
      @thissmallwrist  Месяц назад

      I've yet to find a negative display I can read easily. The MIP displays are nice, but not on most of the Casio line. Hope they integrate those more.

    Usually it's the negative displays in the cheap basic Casio watches that suck really bad. The negative displays in the G-Shock line tend to be much better and I've personally never had an issue with seeing the time on those.

    It's different technology, but the STN negative display that is on my g shock GMW- B5000 is really good. It's honestly not as sharp as a positive STN display but it is still really legible in almost all situations and has never been an issue for me. I don't find myself wishing it was a positive display.

    • @thissmallwrist

    The only Casio best Negative Display ever is the GBD200...even in full sunshine its better than any normal Display..( i compare it to my GMW 5610 U .also excellent normal display but small )..i have tested the GBD200 for 2 months in Sosua .. Dominican Republic North Coast...swimming ..diving...on the motor....sublime !! 🇩🇴☀️😏

    I just picked up a negative display Gw-b5600 and I love it. The display is clearly visible from more angles than my positive 5610. But my ga110 neg is useless

  • @raksh9
    @raksh9 Месяц назад

    The only negative displays which are halfway legible at a glance are the full metal G Shock STN display and the MIP display of the models like the DW H5600, GBD and GBX fitness watches, and the high end Rangeman watches.

  • @wilsondepaula4840
    @wilsondepaula4840 Месяц назад

    Exception for the ones like the GBD 200. Casio should make all the new ones like that.

    My work watch is a Casio AE 1500 with the negative display. I work outdoors so it’s perfect for me, but it’s not a great indoors watch.

      I'm probably not getting a negative display again. It looks cool, but I just can't read it easily.

  • @knutjunker2019
    @knutjunker2019 Месяц назад

    This is precisely why fans are demanding that Casio finally install MIP displays in many of its popular watches instead of the negative LCDs. And with the usual functions without pedometer, heart monitor, bluetooth connection, notifications etc.
    A normal square G-Shock DW-5600 or a GW-5610 with MIP would be a sensation.

    I have one of the new Mudmans(one of them is a colab with Toyota) that cost around 300$ there is an option with a negative display I saw it in the store and under the bright lights I was thinking that the watch is broken. Ended up picking a mudman with a positive display

    the solution is that casio needs to make an LED display, which would make the numbers glow very bright green or red or something, and the background would be completely black

    • @SansidarUploads
      @SansidarUploads Месяц назад

      No. That would require you to have to press a button to see the display every time, which is annoying as hell. If they left it on permanently then it would drain the battery in literally a matter of hours.

    • @melon7592
      @melon7592 Месяц назад

      @@SansidarUploads maybe they can still think of a way to make that work, with a beefy battery and if the LEDs are like strobing at a low refresh rate instead of being fully on

    • @SansidarUploads
      @SansidarUploads Месяц назад

      @@melon7592 LED watches used to be a thing back in the 70s. The very first digital watch was a LED display, but they eventually got replaced by LCDs due to the issues with power consumption. You can get LED watches today also, but they all require you to hit the button to see the time.
      I don't think a battery that has the capacity to support always on LEDs and is small enough to fit in a watch exist, sadly. Maybe LED display will make a comeback in the future when batteries has gotten even better.
      If you like LED displays then I can recommend the Bulova Computron and the Hamilton PSR. I own both. Very cool watches. The PSR has a combination of OLED and LCD display.

    • @thissmallwrist
      @thissmallwrist  Месяц назад

      That's why I'm hoping Casio just offers both. Those who like the negative displays can continue to buy them, but for everyone else, it would be a huge plus for positive display versions.
