Well she kept talking about the "seagull" noises when they were clearly Canada Goose noises, so she probably saw a canada goose and thought it was a seagull.
Of all the videos of their trip to the US, this was only the second video where the sister is visible. I assume she's usually invisible to the human eye and only manifests when conditions are right.
I remember that movie… Born in So California and lived there for my first 60 years… My grandparents lived in the San Francisco area and I saw both Alcatraz and San Quentin…from the outside!! 😏
When I visited in 1975 there were guided tours, you couldn't wander about like this. The personal interaction with the Park Service guides was great. They knew so much and shared anecdotes with us. One thing I found interesting (from a teacher's perspective) was that guards' families who lived in those flats included children. They were ferried daily to school on the mainland and ferried back each afternoon. No yellow school buses for them. I wonder how often they missed school due to bad weather or rough conditions on the bay. I love historical places like this.
You could say that about all prisons even when there in the middle of nowhere. Especially if you got outside detail. Alot of people are tempted to run but most don't because even attempted escape is 5 years added to your sentence. Dosent mean much if you're serving life though.
I went there in 1977 or 1978 and again in 1979. It was much less crowded with a guide to give you the history of Alcatraz. Everything was in much better condition. That guard tower was still on the top of building. Glad you got to see it. I got to take another tour. The warden’s house was still in decent shape. No tours of the house allowed. It was shortly after the Indians were removed from the island. They had no access to water ir the septic system. The island had deteriorated a lot during the occupation.
Alcatraz is said to be haunted. One tourist said he sat down on a bench against a wall in one of the cells, then felt and heard a hand slap down on his shoulder (coming out of the wall) while a deep voice said "You're mine".
Both Alcatraz and San Francisco are 'haunted'. Alcatraz was built on a sacred Native Indian burial 'island' and recall that the city of San Francisco is built upon the burned, old city of San Francisco where countless people were killed. I have visited California numerous times, and not one place on earth that I've visited, has given me the 'heebee geebee' vibes as Alcatraz and the city of no morals, San Francisco. Sounds looney....I've no doubt that that part of the world is a haven for demons/spiritism.

Alcatraz was also an industrial factory. Prisoners were required to work in the various shops and they made things for use by the government. Things like desks, chairs, military uniforms, etc. The laundry not only was used for prisoners clothing but it prisoners washed laundry for the guards and for military personnel from nearby bases. Every job on Alcatraz other than the guards, health and administrative staff, was done by prisoners. They even had inmates who worked in the barber shop and gave shaves and haircuts to guards. Even today Federal prisoners make things for use by Federal government agencies
Forget the sharks, that water is very cold and the undercurrents will take you out to sea to drown. That’s the reason, it’s not far from the mainland, those waters are treacherous and deadly.
Archie stole the show❤❤❤ Those apartments were not fenced when I visited. To anyone who never been to SF the first thing I learned was always take a jacket. I lived in Sacramento and was always freezing when I went to SF even though it was middle of summer.

Only people with a personal vendetta talk down San Francisco. For tourists that want to visit, it's going to be a nice place. But you should know what you want to see and do. And that's the same anywhere.
SOOO True! The extreme right has a HUGE campaign to amplify to the extreme. SF is the most liberal city in the country Thats why they want tarnished SF.
People who live in San Francisco talk down San Francisco. Crime is rampant. Entire blocks are vacant. Homeless encampments and drug addicts line the streets. Human feces and needles. Streets smell like urine. Downtown is destroyed. It’s better in the more residential areas like the sunset but those areas still have crime and homelessness and drug use amongst million dollar homes the size of a shoebox.
This brought back memories as I went to Alcatraz last summer. But the day started out foggy and it eventually cleared out early afternoon. I didn’t see any of the trolleys when driving through San Francisco. Did drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. Went to see the Painted Ladies and seen the exterior of the house they used for the show Full House. We went to the Fisherman’s Wharf and looked around and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. And had dessert the Ghirardelli. I had a blast while I was California. I’m so glad you all had a wonderful time ❤
You can feel the oppressive atmosphere even the your video. The Rock is one of my favorite movies. I've also seen two versions of the Birdman of Alcatraz. Thank you for sharing and I hope Archie never steps foot in a prison ever
The Alcatraz children had to catch a special boat to and from the city each day to attend school. Imagine telling your classmates that you lived on the Rock.
I remember going when I was in grade school, and after the ferry returned, there was an older gentleman who had been incarcerated there. He wore a shirt that read "RETIRED BANK ROBBER", and he had written a book about his time at the prison, which he was selling. It was a real cool experience.
As Mark Twain once said: The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco. There so many microclimants due to all the hills and the fog. It can be hot in one neighborhood and 10-15 degrees cooler in another.
Omg no way! I also went up to NorCal to visit some friends in the Bay Area about two weeks ago. I’ve lived in California my entire life but its my first time visiting Alcatraz. Maybe I walked past you guys and didn’t even notice haha
Been there many times. My brothers were in a group called Sea Scouts and their boat was the Warden Johnson (old prison boat) so they got to spend the night on the island once. They have done such a great job improving the visitor experience since the 90’s.
James reminds me of Neil from the inbetweeners with some of his facial expressions. Not sure why this was the first time I noticed after watching for over a year.
Beesleys, as you may not know already, Alcatraz is now classified in the National Park Service as a National Historic Landmark--1 of almost 30 classifications besides National Park.
I haven't been to Alcatraz since the late '70s when I was very young, but it's an experience you never forget. It's quite unlike anything else in the bay area--or anywhere else in California.
Nice video of Alcatraz! I lived in the Bay area for 18 years, and never went to Alcatraz, so thanks for this video! However, we did go up to the city (San Fran) many times, including Pier 39! Also. the Golden Gate Bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world from 1937 till the Verrazzano-Narrows in NYC finished in 1964. This was the longest suspension bridge in the world till 1981 with the build of the Humber Bridge in the UK in 1981.
There used to be an event where folks would mimic a prison escape from Alcatraz Island and to San Francisco. I have no idea if it's still being done or not but it's a true feat of endurance.
It's funny. I was born and raised in San Francisco but never visited Alcatraz until I was in my 50's and I took some relatives there. To my surprise, it turned out to be an extremely interesting place. I've returned once for a nighttime tour (or as some people like to call it, the "haunted" tour) which is creepy and a lot of fun.
There is 2 movies you have to watch. Escape from Alcatraz. Its an older movie but good. Its based on the true story of a group of inmates that managed to escape the island and never to be seen again. Some say they made it to the mainland and others say they drowned and were swept out to sea. Its still an open case to this day. The 2nd movie you gotta watch that is action fiction is "The Rock" it has Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage in it. Its a good movie. When ever I see it on tv ill watch it.
So just to let you know, those birds that you saw with their chicks are Canadian Geese. You see them all throughout the US though definitely more of them in the Northern states year round. In my area (I'm in Southeastern PA) they've been staying here in much larger numbers year round to the point where it's become a problem. Especially right now when they're raising their goslings, I've gotten stuck in traffic because a large number of them decided to cross a major street which was not something you'd see a decade ago.
Interesting place, I like the fact that they have beer on the ferry. 😁 I literally stood on the bow tip with a beer in my hand thinking about Titanic. King of the world! 🍻
The next time you visit San Francisco, stop by Sausalito. It’s the little quaint town on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge. That is where Otis Redding wrote Dock of the bay. Another place to visit mainly for the food is Millbrae and the Millbrae pancake House. They have the best steak breakfast you ever wanna have. I’m not a big fan of hashbrowns, but they make the best hashbrowns.
Archie is very cute and seems to be a happy baby for the most part. There are 2 different breeds of seagulls in CA. Thanks for showing this, I watched The Rock a short time ago and wondered if it was still open for tourists. Do they not have tours anymore or did you choose not to take the tour? You would have learned a lot about the place from the tour guide. When I was a teenager I remember reading a story from a man who lived there as a child. It was really interesting. I bet the warden didn't have to pay rent on his house.
People speak down about San Fran because of the danger of going there. Lots of violence, homeless, drugs, etc. The city itself is fantastic, like most of California, and hopefully will someday return to its glory years.
Many of you may have heard and seen the movie "The Birdman of Alcatraz" starring the late great actor Burt Lancaster. It is 1,000 percent a true story. If you can find it, please see it, you will not be disappointed. What made it even more poignant was the fact it was shot in black and white.
This takes me back 24 years to the first time I went to Alcatraz. I lived in the Bay Area from 2000-03 and I loved it back then, but I wouldn't want to live there now unfortunately. San Francisco, the bay area for that matter, is such a beautiful place. It's just the way things are in California at the moment that's ruined it for me.
You should see how many people are reacting to you channel. Every single person I follow has watched your videos. It's amazing.
It's been great seeing them evolve from reactors to content creators.
Lol hearing them mention how big the seagulls are over hear cracks me up. Even the wild animals over here eat good😅 hilarious!
American seagulls often sponge food off tourists or steal french fries off people eating in the outdoors seating area at McDonald's.

Anyone else remember Burt Lancaster as The Birdman of Alcatraz? Great film! God I'm old.
Totally bogus movie that completely misrepresented the Birdman. He was a homicidal, sexual predator. Very anti-social. Belonged in Alcatraz.

21:09 watch the Kata and Nate video where they swim from here to freedom! It’s my favorite of all their videos!
awww, the baby's beautiful.
Great video, hope you guys keep em coming 👍 😅
San Francisco is still one of the most beautiful cities in the world...warts n all. ❤😊
Not anymore. It’s well past being able to ignore the warts.
@@FirstNameLastName-wt5toagree, it's going to the birds,I was going to say be careful while they visit.
There's a video of visitors on the boat dock when a Great White Shark nails a seal, and eats it right in front of them! Reality bites! 😊
I literally stood on the bow tip with a beer in my hand thinking about Titanic.
King of the world! 🍻
I missed out on this on my last trip cause they were sod out. So jealous but I’m so glad you got to see it!!!
In so glad you enjoyed my home town San Francisco! It's one of the best cities in the world. ❤
There's a lot of people on the streets that deserves to be in this place
Did he just say he 'sun-creamed up'? Never heard that one before.😅
Too late if you’re waiting until it’s hot out. It’s not heat that causes sunburn and there’s plenty of UV even on overcast days.
People speak down about San Fran because of the danger of going there. Lots of violence, homeless, drugs, etc. The city itself is fantastic, like most of California, and hopefully will someday return to its glory years.
SF’s crime rates are lower than most all major cities. Most major cities have a homeless problem.
But most cities are not as beautiful as this one.
All the negative news on S.F. is media hype and made for clicks and views
Have you guys thought about making your videos longer? Like 45 min or an hour? I would watch!!! 😊
I love how James keeps saying foe-oh for photo 😂
I imagine several folks from Utah would do the same.
