I play them all(every game there is on it), but Galaga the most because it’s my favorite (even though my device’s autocorrect acts like it doesn’t exist)
I love how they teased PAC-MAN coming in like “Nope, this came first”. Then when it came in it was like “oh yeah. We made this. Clap for this awesome music”.
The speeds at which to play the video so that each segment is at its original in-game speed: 0:10 Galaxian, 2x. The beginning and end are actually at different speeds but 2x sounds best. Origin: theme of beginning the game. 0:19 Dig Dug II, 1.25x. The "hurry up" part sounds better at 1.5x. Origin: normal gameplay theme, plus "hurry up" jingle. 0:30 Pac-Man, 1x. Origin: intermission theme. 0:39 Mappy, 1x (though an inbetween like 1.1x would be great). Origin: theme played at the score tally screen after bonus rounds. 0:46 Xevious, same as Mappy. Origin: theme played at the beginning of each life. 0:54 Galaga, 1x? Origin: theme of beginning the game. 1:02 Tower of Druaga, 1x or 1.25x. Origin: main theme, edited somewhat (later part of the song put earlier). I love this intro so much, gives me chills. I wish there were full versions of some of the arranged music.
I'm working on a game called Pac-Man: Power Up! It's a Pac-Man based game where you get powerups that allow other characters from other games to enter. Not letting out too much information on it, but If you're interested I think I can set you up for betas. My tag on Discord is CorellianCrusaders #0452
I'd love a Namco team up crossover game where Pacman, Mappy, Dig Dug(Taizo Hori), Blue Max and Red Baron from Sky Kid, Bravoman, Wonder Momo, etc team up to save the day against their arch-nemesis from their proper game series.
@@LanotaRitmo yes and no. Part of it was because of joy/nostalgia and Part of it was thinking about how im an adult now and back when I played this I had no cares in world, and now I have to do adult shit lmao
The first Namco Museum Copy i've owned. But not the first I played. I played this one the most out of all my DS Games. My top 3 were: Mappy Galaga and Dig Dug II i still own it too!
One of my favorite features was the motherboard mechanic. That was cool that you can tailor the game to play differently. Not enough arcade compilations do that.
Whoever directed this intro is a total genius. This game compilation was my introduction to Namco as a whole and I remember the intro very fondly. Now knowing about Namco’s other IPs like Klonoa and Tekken, I wonder how it would be if they were here.
High quality craftsmanship at its finest. They didn’t have to do this but they put the effort in and the results are delightful when so many other retro compilations are content with just a static title screen.
Out of all the games in this compilation I only knew pacman until I got this game, now thanks to this game I discovered a whole new world of games (plus it introduced me to my currently favorite arcade game ever, mappy)
A title forms in front of a starry sky. Namco Museum DS. The title disappears. 3 alien ships from Galaxian swoop down and spin in a circle as they form another title. Galaxian, 1979. That title turns into a flashing energizer and Pac-Man, a yellow circle with an angular mouth moves toward it. Dig-Dug tries to inflate Pac-Man. He grows to a bigger size and chases Dig-Dug. Dig-Dug 2, 1985. Below, the 4 ghosts from Pac-Man swarm about as the titular character eats through little pellets. Pac-Man, 1980. He eats the energizer and the title falls on the ghosts. Mappy, a police mouse jumps on top of Pac-Man and walks on like a barrel. Mappy, 1983. A cosmic fighter shoots out lasers that form another title. Xevious, 1982. The alien from Galaga uses a tractor beam to capture the cosmic fighter. Galaga, 1981. Two balls of fire drag the title, The Tower Of Druaga, 1984. Gilgamesh opens a chest to pull out the energizer and puts it on the left. All the video game characters follow, including Pac-Man. He eats the energizer and the ghost which has become vulnerable. The characters except for Pac-Man change into retro block letters. Namco Museum DS. Fade to white.
My brother and I both had this game, absolute masterpiece. The amount of nostalgia from any namco museum but specifically this one and the gamecube version just hit different
I love how this intro has people expecting PAC-MAN as the first thing since NAMCO is really known for it but instead reminds everyone of the other iconic games of NAMCO’s legacy
Ah yes, I remember the days when my 8 year old self would play these games in the arcade on end just to get the high score. And I'm only a 19 year old now lmao, but still hits that nostalgia for me.
That transition from _Xevious_ to _Galaga_, though... Brilliant work!
again, I don't own any of these music
all goes to Namco!
That part is has been stuck in my head for a long time now
Ikr it is my favorite thing in the intro in the game

THE NOSTALGIA
As a kid who loved music and loved video games and loved this game, this intro was everything to me...
This game made me a master at Mappy, Dig Dug II, and Galaga.
I was the master at Pacman :3
Honestly I don't like playing Pac-Man with a D-Pad. I never got to that first intermission.
Now that I have a 2ds XL playing Pac-Man is much easier.

It's like they coated the game with a spread of charm.
I always wanted a Namco crossover game, this intro is the closest thing to that

Pacman World Rally PsP

Damn. I had chills running through my entire body listening to this after so many years. This was my favorite game on my DS.

How fitting is it for the Ship in Xevious to get picked up by Galaga's Tractor Beam.
The one part of this intro I'm currently addicted to is the enhanced theme of Galaga!
