What impresses me about this is not that he can identify the fakers for himself, but then he can remember the tone and inflection of what was used in the final cut for his acting partners. It shows that he doesn’t simply show up for his role and then check out, he experiences the game himself and sees the final product, and it sticks with him.
Not to be that guy but he had it pretty easy. Not because the actors were bad, but the audio design alone was a dead giveaway away each time. The challenge wasn’t near as interesting as his perspective
@@patrickimperial579 do you follow this series at all? These are all professional top shelf VAs and Troy did better than anyone else I’ve watched on it.
It's funny cause I feel like the Nathan Drake clip was also filmed on like a phone or something and that's why he got it wrong haha. It sounded a little weird, not like it would if you were actually playing the game
Not only did he have to do a 1981 Harrison Ford, he had to do a 1981 Harrison Ford doing a 1936 American accent that sounds naturalistic and not Transatlantic. That's several layers. Doing an impression of the existing lines is easy. I can do that and I'm an untrained idiot. It's delivering new lines that's a task and Troy nailed it
Really makes me wish that had recast the role in the last 2 Indy films because they really hurt the brand & the character by keeping Harrison Ford who obviously sounds & moves nothing at all like he did in Raiders because of course he aged out & made the last 2 movies embarrassingly unwatchable. Imagine Clint Eastwood coming back to play Dirty Harry…..would you go watch that?
@@nathanf3019 , oh my friggin' God, I checked the original Uncharted 4 scene and it is piched up in this "test". I don't understand, why would they do this just to fool Troy? Did they pitch up or down any of the impression clips? No!
Cameron Monaghan is such an underrated actor, loved him in Gotham, loved him in Last Jedi, even loved his bits in Shameless. So happy to see Troy give him love
Troy Baker as Indiana Jones was almost uncanny. If somebody said that was Harrison Ford doing the voice over, I would believe them. Very, very good voice acting.
I just got told that Troy Baker saw an impression I did of Joel and lo and behold I’m the first one haha what a trip. That makes Norman Reedus, Bill Burr, and Troy Baker reviewing my voice impressions this year. And yes I’m aware he hated it! I can do much better than that video Troy! I did one of Joel talking to Rick from TWD that’s much closer. But you’re the goat!
Lets be honest, having any of those three reviewing your own work would be an honour to anyone regardless of how they felt about it. You have a good voice on you:)
lol funny that Troy Baker described Joker as someone you want to be his friend or have him think you’re his friend… cause that’s how we feel about you Troy! We want to be your friend.
DAVID MY BOYYYYYY!!! LETS GOOOOOOOO!!! Troy should react to more of his work!!! His other videos with Joel are 10x better and his TWD Impressions are incredible!!!
My man, speaking of impressions. How the hell did you ALSO pull of Indy? I would actually hate you if you weren’t so talented. You know everything out the park every time 😂.
Gotta love Pedro sneaking in at the end. I've played so many games Troy has been in most of these were super easy. It helps that I was familiar with a lot of the performers doing the impersonations as well.
TV and Movies have, in general, have fallen so far that for the first time in my life my new movie stars and voice actors. They are nailing it and in fairness so are the script writers. Keep it up guys, Your killing it.
Im loving this Indiana Jones game, and him saying he wanted to capture the 1980’s Harrison ford makes sense cause it is amazing, think thats also a huge part into why the game feels as great as it does.
Troy Baker is far too humble but it's endearing to see given his talent. Like many I'm sure I've had that "He did THAT character as well?!" moment quite a few times once I realised who he was. Far Cry 4, Bioshock Infinite, Infamous Second Son, God of War... and that's before even mentioning one of the greatest games ever made in The Last of Us - he's just been ever present in a whole generation and more gamer's ears for all this time and part of so many incredible memories.
@@moonmoon2479 Saying Pedro did it better than him when thats wrong. Troy did it better. Pedro was really soft and overacted in the Sarah death scene imo.
@@lucasromerova6150 I don't really think so. If the show came out before the game, you would've then said the game Joel underreacted compared to Pedro Pascal. Pedro's performance is very realistic. That time, my man was just a normal human bruh, not out in the world, trying to survive and kill. Makes sense he reacted that way, instead of just being silent and accepting it in his heart. While at the same time, Troy Baker's reaction is extremely realistic too, cuz he just depicted Joel going into a deep state of shock and trauma, instead of getting consumed by his emotions and impulses.
Got this off of Tokullectibles for $180. I'm still contemplating whether to open it, due to fear of those small annoyances and its possible increase of value due to the concept of 4 big franchises becoming a megazord. I'm also tempted to put each of the 4 pieces in front of each corresponding blu ray. Really good review. Subscribed
Whilst I don't think it's hard to tell the impressions from the original performances, it doesn't help some of the impersonators when their audio's quality, ambiance, and lip sync is wildly off haha.
I think it's easy to think a voice actor will know all their lines in all of these but how many actors have NO clue how many of their lines will make it into the final product, and depending on how complex the game is, even if they play the game they might not hear all the lines of dialogue their character has to know which ones were used, so they probably end up forgetting more than half of the shit they record. I think also think more actors would get their own ones wrong if you showed them the authentic clips but like filtered or compressed so the audio quality sounds more "recorded this on my 4 year old phone" and it might throw them off enough, make them really rely on hearing their own voice to get it right.
I am assuming this is from the last of us 2 at the start of the video since I only played the first one with the velociraptor fun fact is that in reality there the size of a chicken not that big it turns out Jurassic park really effected other games and movies when they called there down sized Utahraptor a velociraptor and of course this is coming from someone with a Dino pick on there profile
7:14 The irony of this statement when we just got a Last of Us TV show that needn’t be made and will always be subpar to the games is really depressing. @TheCynicalAutist How do you know so well the writing process of The Last of Us? Because Niel is the only one credited for writing the game, and he also directed it with Bruce. The scene, for example, where Sarah dies, was definitely under his supervision
I like to do impressions, but Troy has just a bit of bass on the back of his voice that you just can’t imitate. So unfortunately Troy is one I can’t always copy

Troy's been doing this for several decades.
With experience, identifying fakers from real deal becomes simpler.

I gotta say, I’m blown away by Troy’s Harrison Ford impression down to the mannerisms.
100%. Especially in the scenes in the game where Indy is yelling, it's indistinguishable. Sounds exactly like him.
Mic quality's giving a lot of the fakes away
true hahah
Troy is a class act for not mentioning that
even if they had studio mics and a quality interface, the voice it captures would still be bad in many ways, tone, inflection, cadence, etc.

If it were like Gran Torino where it all ends with a last stand, then a Dirty Harry movie with old Clint Eastwood would work.
First clip was more Arthur Morgan than Joel Miller.
Yup
Good point. It was also good when Troy made it. In the video. 😂
That's why he said it's more RDR than TLOU
i feel like yall dont watch the video. i mean he literally said that essentially

One of my favorites, sad to see the role not get as much recognition. My PSN was named after the character
