_Carrie_ (2013) is the one remake on this list I’ll watch, only because I’m not that big of a horror fan.
Carrie
The new Poltergeist is a guilty pleasure of mine. Also at 0:20 you mislabeled Carrie (2013) as It (2017)
Evil Dead
what about piranha 3dd?
Black Christmas (2019) - Are you kidding me? That was God awful!
That film is a fucking joke!
It was more of a message then an actual movie. The original was way better.
@@KingOfMumbles485... Agreed! Hell, the 2006 remake is Citizen Kane compared to that 2019 monstrosity!
This film was extremely cringe and painful to sit through. The fact that it's even on this list period is appalling.
After seeing Carrie (2013) and Black Christmas (2019), I knew this list is a joke. Amateur much?
John Carpenter's The Thing is a masterclass in old school practical effects & a masterpiece in the horror genre.
and the fly
@@sillyninja65 The Fly (1986) is fucking awesome!
Best horror movie
Yep it’s the GOAT
Wasn't old school at the time
The Hills Have Eyes Remake is up there with my all time favorite horror movies. The acting and the ending were just spot on.
I totally agree.
„Suspiria“ was truely an amazing remake! One of the best movies I‘ve ever seen and massively underrated!
The 2006 Hills Have Eyes & 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre are my personal 2 favorite remakes. They just did everything right in my opinion 🤘🔥
same
Same. Jessica Biel killed it in that role.
Me too and Jessica Biel in those tight jeans, youza!!! The Last House on the Left 2009 was a damn solid remake
2004’s ‘Dawn of the Dead’ remake is one of the best.
Original - FAR superior
Should be closer to 1 I reckon.
Big facts
the olympic athlete zombies killed it for me
Yeah. That movie looks like any other zombie movie but it was well made and entertaining af
The Blob should be way higher on this list. That is an underrated 80's horror masterpiece with some of the best practical effects in any movie ever. I'd put it in my top 5 for horror remakes
Dawn of the Dead by James Gunn too
I mean, it should be remaked again because the quality is kinda bad.
Chloe Grace Moretz being in 3 horror remakes should make her a modern Scream Queen.
SHE S A GOOD ACTRICE BUT I LL PREFER IF THEY TOOK DAKOTA FANNING TO PLAY THE MAIN CHARACTOR DO TO MORE RESSEMBLANCE TO SISSY SPACEK! 😉
@@jay-dee-0077 I prefer both Dakota Fanning and Chloe Grace Moretz
@@Nsodnoajdjksl yea but they doesn t choose Dakota! 😜
Very true.
Wait, what other remakes was she in?
We can take it for granted that The Fly(80s), Invasion of the Body snatchers(70s), and The Thing(80s) are always at the top. Goes without saying.
I like how they portrayed Jason in the Friday the 13th reboot. Jason with intelligence that can run is scary as hell.
Not to mention his kills are much more brutal
Fun fact, they basically combined Jason from Friday 2, 3, and 4, so the remake is a condensed remake of four movies :)
Thats why FT13th part 3 was one of my favorites. First time with the mask and he still ran in that one.
Yeah, replace any of the nonsenical ones on the list with it, hell replace another one with Nightmare on Elm Street, excluding the reveal of Freddie doing what he did the film overall is decent, kills are great, the death of Nancy's mom is far more impactful than Sex Doll

@Mark Lynn Perfectly said, I like the Child's Play remake, but it's not the best of remakes, Carrie enough said, Black Christmas haven't seen the video, both remakes are shit anyway, My Bloody Valentine 3D, shot for shot just recast and in 3D
Some remakes that I DO like ( a rarity ) - Invasion of the Body Snatchers ( 1978 ), Nosferatu The Vampire ( 1979 ), The Thing ( 1982 ), Cat People ( 1982 ), and Scarface ( 1983 ), but THOSE are OLDER ones and have nothing to do with this shitty current Hollywood remake TREND ( which I pretty much hate ).
A few of these are tolerable. Child's Play was shit.
Hey where's the Grudge
Black Christmas 2019 was complete ass
Yeah! That movie fuc#%ng sucks!!!! 🤬
Half these remakes were awful I don't know why she's lying saying they were good
@@romanbullard1630 I personally agree with many movies on this list! 👍
But… Black Christmas (2019)? Childs Play (2019)? Carrie (2013)? 🤢🤮
@@frankcortes6852 carrie was neither good or bad because it didn't change shit, it's just an updated version of the original that gives us the question: if you'll make a remake that changes nothing and it only has better quality, then why make it?
@Mark Lynn it sucks
I really loved the Fright Night remake. In fact I loved both the remake and the original very much!
Theres also a Fright Night 2

Definitely not your best list. Black Christmas 2019 deserves absolutely no spot on any list of best horror remakes, not even if it was a Top 100 list.
It's not even a remake
@@matthewbelcher5389 What is it then?
@@liampatrick3110 well its crap, its not a remake as it follows none of the original plot it is a completely different movie just using the title Black Christmas

The Evil Dead remake really brought my love for the franchise back to life
The evil dead remake was the best remake I’ve ever seen literally bloodiest movie I’ve seen
@@domgriffith6483 going to disagree....I like Bruce Campbell too much
Evil Dead is the only franchise i can think of that I like everything from the franchise besides the original movie. The sequels, the remake, the TV series, the comics the video games. I just don't care for the original movie. Found it boring. So the remake was a breath of fresh air.
@@RabidWolf1966 watch post credits... GROOVY!!!
The Evil Dead remake was sooooooo brutal. In a good way, of course.
John Carpenter's The Thing is a masterpiece 1️⃣
Right you are bud. My favorite horror movie.
The Evil Dead Remake was badass. I was really surprised.
I know. They went from horror-comedy to pure batshit crazy, piss your pants, nightmare fuel horror in the remake. The trailer alone scared the living crap out of me.
@@jarrettowens4215 When the trailer came out people wanted to hate the movie before release but it took many by surprise. Very good man. Very good.
Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness were horror- comedy, The original Evil Dead was a pure horror movie.
@@L3M0N4NDCH3RRYZZ Yeah I love those as well.
The Blob was the movie that started it all. I watched it in 1989 and fell in love with it and subsequently became a movie fan. Both The Blob and Nightmare 4: Dream Master made a movie fan out of me. I rem I was so impressed by The Blob when I watched it in theatre for the first time.
Great movie indeed.
Interesting that there are two remakes with Chloe Moretz on this list. She was also in remakes of "The Amityville Horror" and "The Eye" and there might be more. I saw one just this year where she was fighting a gremlin, though it wasn't a remake of "Gremlins." I guess I'm saying that she's prolific and I like her work
I think it's interesting that "Ju-on" and "The Grudge" had the same director. He essentially remade his own movie (which he'd already done before since "Ju-on" was adapted from his student film). "Ju-on" was good, but I think "The Grudge" benefitted from a drearier color palate which enhanced the visual tone and foreboding mood of the film and they trimmed one of the plotlines (the schoolgirls) for a more streamlined narrative (though their storyline was adapted in the sequel).
I like your eloquently put points! Ill re read them agsin soon to really sink it in, do you have a channel with related content? !
I like how in the beginning you guys showed a clip from Carrie and labeled it as IT (2017)
The Crazies remake really got snubbed when it first came out and it’s nice to see that it’s gained a good following now. It’s just a really nice classic style zombie flick.
Definitely! Plus it has Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell. It's really hard for me to hate any movie they're in.
It’s one of the few horror movie remakes that completely smokes the original
The Hills Have Eyes Remake 🔥
Why are there so little comments? Usually people are flocking to the comments. Lmao. Also, Nosferatu (1922) was an unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. They burned most of the copies but a few survived and have been released on DVD, Blu-Ray, ETC...
@Rich Perez Yeah.
Dawn of the Dead remake is amazing, especially the 1st 10mins
Unfortunately the black Christmas 2nd remake didn’t use its themes in a meaningful or interesting way.
The Fly and John Carpenter’s The Thing are both top notch candidates
2011's The Thing is actually a prequel, not a remake per se.
Also it was terrible. They didn't have to use CGI because the practical effects of the original still hold up exceptionally well.
Also the evil dead remake
@@ashmoz it was pretty awful - a two star movie at best. I just remember I couldn’t see a thing. The test they had for human or thing was clever plus the end was appropriate. I saw it just once which was more than enough.
I ironically loved the thing prequel almost as much as the original
@@batgurrl
Wasn’t there The Thing movie in the 50s?
11: Fun Fact; the director of Avatar and Titanic did the sequel to Piranha in 1981
He also directed Aliens and the first 2 terminators.
Just say James Cameron.
James Cameron
I've convinced myself that they just included black christmas here as a prank because no way that movie is good. I'd take rob zombies halloween ANY day over this!!!
Black Christmas 2019 was A$$!! 🤬
LOL Halloween was bad too but yea Id take Rob's film anyway too!
Black Christmas 2019 is considered one of the worst remakes of all times and a horrible movie in general. It's got a 3.4/10 on iMDB and a 39% by critics and 31% by audience on Rotten Tomatoes. The highest rating it got was as D+ on CinemaScore. The 2006 was more well received. Top 20 best remakes my @$$.
One of the best remakes ever
(if not THE best): 1978's
"Invasion Of The Body Snatchers".
It was good but the original was great in its own right
@@batgurrl
Some basic flaws in the original.
Optimistic ending (uuuggghh!!!)
Miles was away hardly even
a minute or two from Becky
before she changed.
Not very believable in the context.
In the remake, Matthew
is gone considerably longer
&, upon returning,
the transformation still hasn't
finished, which makes more sense
& it leaves Matthew trying in vain
to hold on to the last vestiges
of Elizabeth, who then crumbles
away in his arms, as the pod version
suddenly appears out of nowhere.
Also, it's just done better--
eerie effects, great score,
inventive directing, super cast,
finely-tuned script.
There supposedly were
arguments about the original,
how it should've had the more
shocking ending rather than
the hopeful one. Might've helped.
Again, THE best remake ever, IMO.
@@laustcawz2089 it’s been decades since I saw the original and it left no impression on me other than being forgettable 😂
And yes, NOBODY can replace REBECCA's VOICE. Sorry, but her voice gives this channel " sophistication ".
Evil Dead was my favourite by far.
The Thing DEFINITELY deserves #1... Kinda surprised that Friday the 13th didn't make it
I'll say it: Suspiria's 2018 is perfection and pure art
Let me In and the original Let the Right One In are two of my favorite vampire genre movies. The original with its build up to what really is going on and the faithful American adaptation. They were just great.
I really loved Child's Play, Carrie, Let Me In and The Ring. Child's Play kind of surprised me because they made Chucky more of a victim of circumstances due to another persons insidious actions...rather than being the killer himself. It made me kinda feel sorry for him in a weird way.
On the other hand I could not stand the Fright Night remake. I couldn't even finish it. It was just ridiculous.
The original dawn of the dead is my favourite horror film by far, the remake was way better than expected.
The remake might not be superior (it is in some areas though) but it is definitely still good
@@jakealter5504 absolutely. Best remake of a Romero movie for me
The Rob Zombie remake of Halloween was awesome. Very brutal portrayal of how a kid became more and more evil and turned into the killer. But his "Halloween 2" was a bit dumb.

Fun Fact "House of Wax" with Vincent Price is actually a remake itself. The original was made in 1933, titled "Mystery of the Wax Museum". Kinda makes you wonder how many movies were remade more than once.
Also...didn't they put the "Carrie" remake in their list "Top 10 Worst Horror Movie Remakes"?
7: Did you mistake 2013’s Carrie for 2017’s It? I know they’re both Stephen King adaptations but the stories are different
Both of them had parts from their respective source material they didn't adapt into those movies, like the towns destroyed at the end of both novels as well as that controversial gangbang scene from the IT novel.
Hell, even the TV movie remake of Carrie got the destroyed town part right, even though it was made with crappy CGI.
If anyone wants to adapt any Stephen King story, they need to do it justice or don't do it at all.
@@martinde-serres8724 I believe he was referring to 0:21 where a "Carrie" scene was shown but the little label in the bottom left corner was labeled "It".
It (2017) isn’t a remake.
@@LFAFGames idk y people don't understand this. it drives me nuts. yea sure tim curry made a wonderful pennywise but his was dumb down due to it being made for TV and not an actual movie. hell Steven king has even said IT 2017 was the best IT movie because part one and two are the only it movies
@@LFAFGames It is a remake of a miniseries
Evil Dead (2013) was ahhhmazing! Lightning in a bottle, mostly due to the last-minute casting of Jane Levy as lead character, 'Mia'. She absolutely crushed it. Honorable mention, DotD '04
I love The Thing. It's one of my favorite movies of all time but it is the very definition of a 'completely new adaptation of the source material.'
Exactly!
John Carpenter's 1982 "The Thing" IS NOT a sequel to 1951's "The Thing From Another World". No matter what anyone (including John Carpenter himself) says.
While they both draw upon John W. Campbell's novella, "Who Goes There?", there are few aspects of either film in the other. The only thing they have in common is 1) there is an alien that crashed on Earth, and 2) the story takes place in a cold clime. Even this has an important difference. The '51 film takes place in the Arctic (near the North Pole) while the '82 film is set in Antarctica. No character from either film are in the other. The alien in "Thing From Another World" is vegetable-based and needs blood (animal or human) to reproduce via seed pods (ostensibly to take over the world). The alien in "John Carpenter's "The Thing" assimilates the life forms it comes into contact with (ostensibly to eventually take over the world, other animal life included). In "Thing From Another World" there is a military presence as protagonists as well as a love interest for the ranking officer. Neither are found in "John Carpenter's The Thing".
Similarities: 1) An alien crashes on Earth; 2) The film is set in a cold clime; 3) Fire is used as the main weapon against the alien (moving to electricity in "Thing From Another World").
"John Carpenter's The Thing" is more faithful to the source material. But both films are very good, and should be looked at as separate entities. I think the idea "John Carpenter's The Thing" was a sequel came about because people are lazy and just abbreviated the title from "The Thing From Another World" to simply, "The Thing".
I just recently watch the evil dead reboot for the first time and it was great.
The 2019 Black Christmas is one of the worst films ever made. The message that it tried to get across was commendable, until they revealed that all the men were under some black magic control and had no real control over their actions. That's a yikes
glad to see NOSFERATU the vampyr in this list.

"Let Me In", both versions are brilliant!
I know people change their minds on things a lot but just pointing out that the "Carrie" remake was also on Watchmojos worst horror remakes list seven years ago...it's actually a bit refreshing to see a channel change their minds and evolve.
I love the friday the 13th reboot.
The first 20 minutes were badass!

The Child's Play remake was just super funny with hilarious jokes and then the Gruesome murders. It was getting scarier towards the end though. The Blob remake was incredible and I loved it! Also, the IT remakes were really awesome!

I disagree with the decision to exclude IT (2017); sure, there were differences, but the overall story was basically the same, and any remake is going to be at least somewhat different. Otherwise, you'd just watch the original.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 should have also been an honorable mention. Just sayin. 😒
It should've been on the list. It's still well regarded by most fans of the Texas franchise. Whoever wrote this list has a terrible taste in films...Black Christmas and Child's Play remake on here? For fucking real?
I agree with u wholleheartedly one of the best remakes ever
@Mark Lynn I would agree with you on that one. But the truth is, the Ft13 reboot is exactly what it implies, a reboot much less a remake. As I look back on and from info delivered on the Dead Meat Kill (Re)Count, that film is much more a combination of Friday's Part 1-4, basically the best of the first 4 parts before the pre-Zombie Jason era. 👍🏻
Whoever PUT the 2019 versión of Black Christmas in here was obviously HIGH
They should've replaced Piranha 3D (2010) and Black Christmas (2019) with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) and Friday The 13th (2009)
The remakes of A Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday The 13th and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre are way better than few ones of this list.
Texas Chainsaw and Friday the 13th remakes were both really good but in my opinion, the Nightmare on Elm Street remake was a hot mess. I hated that they cast Rooney Mara as a character as iconic a Nancy.
@Mark Lynn I agree. That whole "is he or isn't he innocent only to find out he WAS guilty " thing was a complete mess. Too complicated.
I’m glad someone else also thinks the Carrie remake is actually pretty good - even with its flaws
The prom scene and after got ratcheted up in all the right ways imo.
Nice to see House of Wax get a mention, it's way better than it's given credit for.
The Thing, Tom Savinis Night of the Living Dead, The Blob and The Mummy (99) are the best overall

#19 Although you can't beat the original, I like the actress Chloe Grace Moretz.
She was miscast at best!
You started with child's play and I knew I couldn't take this list seriously
I know, right! Most everyone who has spoken about the Child's Play remake has nothing but negative things to say about it.
Def some good ones here. Let me in, the ring etc. Only saw the new one but wow loved suspiria and it's awesome visuals! And We are what we are was def a random find for me while back, interesting watch to say the least .
Y’all are dead wrong for not only not mentioning Friday the 13th (2009) but also not ranking it HIGHLY. That movie was and, still is to this day, the scariest interpretation of Jason in the entire franchise and made him an actual intimidating threat. The movie was not bad by any means and even pays homage to the originals. Please consider that next time you decide to mention horror remakes. And of the same decade, A Nightmare on Elm Street was also missing. It may not have been as good but still deserves to at least be mentioning for reinvigorating Freddy’s character as well.
Dawn of the dead was an amazing remake !
I'm confused how The Grudge didn't make this list.
Yah me too
Lmfao ya'll really put the Child's Play remake on here?!?!
GTFO here.....it was a tasteless cash grab by a company and was completely disowned by Don Mancini, the creator/co-creator of the STILL ongoing Chucky franchise, as well as several others who worked on the franchise.
As flawed as it is, Child's Play was a helluva lot better than the House of Wax remake!
The ending of The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) will give me nightmares for a long time and to never take gardening as a hobby.
Well, i dunno friday the 13th the remake should have a honorable mention ,it was my very first horror movie=))

I think you accidentally labeled the Carrie remake as It.
I absolutely loved the Evil Dead remake.
My bloody Valentine was okay (never saw the original) but I felt the Era being very 3D oriented took away from what could have been an awesome horror movie
From my perspective, the movie that deserves a remake is Carnosaur, the original was bad, along with the sequel since it was nothing compared to the book. If their was someone to choose to direct the remake, it should either be Peter Jackson or Guillermo Del Toro.
True I've seen all 3 films and they sucked so a well done remake that is somewhat closer to the book would be awesome.

Psycho 1998
I liked your honorable mentions, especially Rob Zombie's Halloween and 2005's House of Wax, which tended to get a lot of hate.
The Last House on The Left remake is so much better than the original. The acting, the script, the cinematography. The fact that they toned the Sexual down to 20% and the violence to 200%. Like honestly, that bit with Krug being paralysed and knowing he’s going to die all while the doctor puts on his doctor voice, then as his eyes glaze over and he’s shoved head first into a microwave. I also liked how the main girl survived the end, made it so much less depressing than the original.
Also the characterisation of Junior was so much better.
