The Calamity Mod is a large content mod for Terraria which adds many hours of endgame content and dozens of enemies and bosses dispersed throughout the vanilla game's progression. I think its a really cool idea for calamitas to be an NPC and to have such an interesting mechanic, the enchantments seem to be only useful in a specific time though but they do change some stuff up and make the mod very interesting.

Not really, Cal tells us exactly what she gives, while the Goblin Tinkerer scams you.

And somehow tinkerer is still my favorite npc XD
I personally think that Exhumed is perfect when paired up with a sniper rifle like Tyranny's end and you have the Daawnlight Spirit Origin, it leads to large damage from what I've tried!
Yeah, Ephemeral is best paired with slow weapons like Sniper Rifle!

If you think about it, exhumed weapons are actually the most realistic in the sense that you can actually take damage from them. Like how are you gonna stand in the middle of an explosion and be perfectly fine

@@user15121lIlIIll yes depends on the monster, but your comparing apples to oranges in this case. Two separate things. One is physics the other is more of a argument of power and force needed to subdue the large creature. Both can be valid, but both are on different playing fields.

These will be practically a necessity in the coming superbosses - I get the feeling that without the extra stats the enchants give us, Yharim (when he eventually gets added) will be impossible.

Ephemeral is especially good when combined with the scarlet devil which has such a slow recharge that the charge meter has enough time to almost fully charge. And if you wait for stealth strikes with rogue weapons it’s even better since stealth recharges slower than this enchantment.

Honestly, there are some good endgame builds with the new enchanted items, such as warbanner of the sun + any short-sized true melee weapon + bloodthirsty encantment. With right setup, it's a really powerful strategy for melee players.

Since Calamitas wields Dark magic, of course your enchantments are going to come at a cost.

@@godzillainhellgoji5299 It's Yharim and no, there was no mindcontrol, to the extent that Yharim had a precaution plan just in case that Calamitas rebelled against him (that's where the Calamitas' Clones come from).
Bloodthirsty gives up to a 75% bonus and only down to a 25% deficit. It seems pretty much just like a strict upgrade on average since most enemies move pretty fast and you will often be closer to them than further away. My guess is that you'd average 25% greater damage versus most targets without even specifically trying to maximize the efficacy of the enchantment.
3:46 Hey, a lot of these enchantment downsides can be worked around by using certain strategies. For this one, just use a piercing weapon, and there’s no downside.
Important to note: piercing, *non-homing* weapon. If it's homing, pointing will be a little difficult.
Murasama is amazing with this Enchantment
@@HappyGick Eh, you could still position the thing so that it's on top of your enemies. Like, have your target be halfway between you and the cursor, so that the thing sits on top of it.
I wish the improvements of the goblin were like that in vanilla ... but less exaggerated of course.
SCal's enchants can be outright OP with the right weapons and strategies, and she literally uses her occult powers for it
Unlike goblin which can sometimes cost more and does less, and just him hitting your weapon with a hammer
They reworked Goblin in 1.5, he only gives good modifiers now, and you’ll usually get the best pretty fast

I personally think that Lecherous is a very good enchantment, when used correctly. Some good weapons for it are the Staff of Blushie and the Murasama, as these weapons attack enemies in a certain area rather than in a straight line, which I feel like is how the enchantment was supposed to be used.
I think aflame is almost solely beneficial, 1 dps to you in endgame is nothing, and the burn effect on your target is a really nice bonus on top of all your other damage
Burn effect does almost nothing against what's ahead of you. What's a few more DPS going to do to Draedon or Yharim?

1 dps to you compared to 3k dps to them, average late game character has like 1k hp or some shit

If you wanna get specific then yeah probably not for you because with your attitude I don't think you'll stand much of a chance
The exploding minions enchantment is probably the best one since the end game minions are not expensive to resummon at all and the ramping up effect ends up just being a constant dps increase
Though the true melee one could be pretty powerful too, it essentially triples your dmg since it's you + the 2 arms swinging the same weapon, gives a swords 360° range instead of the typical 180° and the many true melee buffs you can get means you'll have quite the powerful tool in your hands after all is said and done, however the lack long range could potentially be problem with future bosses
At least Goblin Tinkerer isn't as scammy as before..

I think that Scal is not that salty about her defeat. But she is just a wicked person.
Lets be honest, she gone through some rough times. She had her whole family murdered, she has been betrayed again and again so I think its safe to say that she isn't wicked but her dark magic has downsides.. Which makes a lot if sense.
But I think she is good but doesn't trust easily.

Ephemeral is absolutely busted with something like the Scarlet Devil, with how slow it fires and how it was basically made for Stealth Strikes, ephemeral just ends up being a damage up.

@@cochin98a Imprisoning and abusing people (the Town NPCs) is just the surface of a Player's many crimes. There's also the warcrime of attacking a surrendering enemy (post-defeat SC), and attacking a faction (Yharim) without first declaring war.

Oblatory is very good for low attack speed magic weapons. Depending on the weapon you essentially get a 50% damage boost for free. Also leacherous doesn’t do much against piercing weapons.

I mean, basically in the death-malice mode, bosses can kill you almost instantly, and mobility is very important at most of stages of the game, since bosses have become faster after the draedon update, and you can't just afford more damage by sacrificing only your mobility, instead, you sacrifice your chances of surviving a boss battle, but in post moonlord phase of game we already have great mobility and extra damage won't be bad only if you want faster bossfight. I think that these enchantments are mainly used for fun or should be used for very special purposes.
Resentful and Bloodthirsty are the most optional enchantments.
Ephemeral is also usefull with slow weapons, such as Scarlet Devil, it is literally free damage boost with basically no drawback

Hey gitgudwo, the goblin tinkerer got reworked in the update, so you will always get the best reforge for a weapon/tool in around 5-7 reforges, maximum 12 if you're unlucky
For accesories, it's very common to get the tier 4 reforges in sequence(warding, lucky etc)

the enchantments that give you hearts or healing items can be a really big help if you make that item with the sole purpose of healing you. could be a great alternative to healing potions if your timer is going.

I feel the mechanic works and makes sense. This is at a stage where you are your strongest. And in all media we learn that when people want power beyond there limits it often comes at a cost and bites you in the ass. Perfectly fitting for the NPC that turned evil from power to offer that service
I figured out a way to get lots of money for enchantments. It requires the alchemistNPC lite mod, which I assume most people already have. Basically, after murdering Yharon, go to the Operator nor and buy Yharon treasure bags. Then resell them. I repeated this a lot, and it made me 890 platinum coins
You do have to open the treasure bags first
That is from another mod and is most definitely straight up abusing an exploit.
The best endgame money making method I found that is actually in Calamity and not an exploit is farming darksun fragments during solar eclipses. Get some chaos candles, zerg potions, solar tablets, and massacre the crapload of enemies to gather the fragments en masse. They sell for twelve gold each and you can get hundreds of them from a single eclipse.
if you are going to use alchemist npc to do this then just buy golden chandeliers from the architect
he sells them lower than the sell value for whatever reason so you can just do that to get about 50 plat per stack

I would say with the oblitory enchantment its downside can be basically negated if your regeneration is high enough. I would also say you get the best use out of it when putting it on a slow but very heavy damaging magic weapon.

oblatory on magic weapons can be really great if used correctly, with good regen accessories and oblatory you can never loose health, and it gives a 65% damage increase, so if stacked with mythical you can reach some pretty insane dps. Oblatory mythical dance of light hard carried me through exo mechs, i highly recommend it
I usually use like 3 diffeent wepons at a time (its fun and they have different purposes), so having the charge metre is nothing but a plus is you manage it well, swapping between wepons.
I feel like alot of these enchantments would be great to use when you activate rage or adrenaline.
Its a shame that these are all mega late game reforges, it would be great to try them out against earlier bosses and use them throughout a playthrough.
Some of the enchants definitely are purely beneficial for certain classes, melee benefits extremely well from the "closer you are the more damage you deal" enchant, and vice versa for ranger and the "further away you are the more damage you deal" enchant

this is super cool ive always loved rewarding skill by damaging the player if they do mistakes but buffing the items they use
How good the enchants are depend on the weapon you’re using, if you use true melee then the one that increases damage the closer the target is pretty good,the opposite is true for most magic and ranged weapons.
well you could think of adding the enchant that makes your weapon lose its progectiles adding it to a weapon that has no progectiles as "solely benifical"
Lecherous is really good for non-homing, piercing weapons, like Triactis' True Paladinian Mage-Hammer of Might, since the hammer just rams through t and hits whatever you're aiming at anyway.

These gave me an idea.
Why not have an accessory that gives a constant health-drain effect, but gives all of your weapons lifesteal.
Call it "essence of the vampire" or something similar.

Gotta say, I enjoy the new reforging mechanics for the Tinkerer - he at the very least can no longer roll negatives, which removes a lot of options and gives you better odds by default since the modifier pool is no longer cluttered with negatives and the rerolls increase in power for each subsequent try, to the point of getting high ranking enchantments quite often. Makes getting that sweet sweet warding modifier all the easier. :)
I think Menacing does more. Defense and DR won't do much against a boss that kills you in one or two hits, whereas you deal 24% more damage with all Menacing stuff, giving you a better chance.

Ephemeral is actually really good if you use multiple weapon. Usually my melee setup consist of Elemental Excalibur, Illustrious Knives, Red Sun, Murasama and Ark of the Elements, the charge of Ephemeral is seperated between each weapon and you can alternate between weapons too get the most out of it Enchantment effect.
Resentful on ranged is cool, because you're getting a damage bonus up close with most weapons anyway, so you basically have free damage

There is 2 more, both giving damage scaling over distance.
One makes your weapons do more damage at range and less up close, the other vice versa.

mot of characters life regen is so high (like somewhere around 70~90) that things that say 'you take damage while using/holding this item' mean literally nothing

I haven't beaten SCal yet due to my laptop not being suitable for large games and large scale mods, (like terraria and Calamity respectively)
edit: also my game keeps crashing every time I beat DoG, even with the lowest settings possible.

Bloodthirsty looks really good on meele since has no debuffs and boosts your meele damage

I found great success with oblatory heresy as mage, it shows great results at exo mechs if you are going for them post-scal.
Fun fact: lecherous can be put on weapons without the homing feature like Triactis’ Mage Hammer. Probably the only direct upside to an enchantment

Also you should look at flamethrowers with the shroomite armor against plantera and stuff they are broken af with the right stuff

Im glad they’re pushing for more ideas to further customize your characters equipment, but I would agree that some enchantments seem to be pretty bad. Then again, this is our first time seeing such a system so I do have high hopes with it in the future!
The SCal enchants are absolutely nuts.
But it requires you to have a brain to know how to utilize most of them.
One doesn’t give you the reforge you want, the other gives you a reforge that’s pretty good, if you’re a masochist
Metastasis is very good. You can cancel the buff to un-summom spechuler and summon it back to remove all the hearts
What i don't like is that she charges money. I think money is worthless to calamitas, if she wanted something she would just take it
I guess its a solid way to actually use the huge stacks of money the endgame calamity player has just lying around, but thematically it probably should cost some rare resource

I like Aflame because the Weak Brimstone Flames only do 1 damage per second, and if you pair it with the Crown Jewel or its upgrades, then that’s free defense and life regen for basically no cost, plus more DPS.
