From AngelVA, here's some additional information from a developer you may be interested in! 3:32 - Xyk's Meld weapon reworks are absolutely incredible, and I plan on giving Empyrean Armor a rework as well. Keep an eye out in the Calamity Mod discord, I'll post more updates there. 5:20 - Aerialite's Whip will be called Skycaller Lash, and it's just one out of quite a few whips that are in development right now. The overhaul for summoner is still a huge work in progress, but it's something I think players will have a lot of fun with. Can't say any more ;) 5:50 - Even though the Old Duke and Providence will not be changing much in terms of their fights, both have received visual overhauls by the incredibly talented ENNWAY. Expect more fights to have similar overhauls as well. Quick note, Old Duke will very likely be renamed along with his redesign, but a name has not been chosen yet. 6:03 - I don't think anyone will be ready for just how large the Sunken Sea's new size is, it almost reaches to the Underworld and will have a massive amount of places for players to explore. Current public spoilers are just the tip of a very sunken iceberg! 6:32 - If you kill a Slugbun I will come find you. 6:53 - All Arsenal weapons will eventually receive reworks, we're just rolling them out in waves. If you love the Star Swallower Containment Unit frog, don't worry! It'll still exist in the game as a pet. 7:23 - If all goes well, Slime God may be coming sooner than you think! I can't promise anything at this time though, many things can change. Virulent Slime's addition is still up in the air at this moment - it's something many on the dev team would like to do but more important things are taking priority, and we're still not sure how or where it will be in the game at this time. Something that wasn't mentioned in the video but I figured the community will be very excited to hear about: Yharon's resprite has been making massive progress over the past few months. The three spriters (yes, three) that have been working overtime to make this a reality deserve nothing but the best and it's incredible to see it all coming together. IMPORTANT NOTE: This resprite is not confirmed to make it into the Sunken Sea Overhaul, as there are many things that go beyond just the sprite that need to be considered. Either way, something to look forward to! A quick message about Desert Scourge, since I'm willing to bet that many of you are confused about why it has received another resprite. The concept artist for the design has requested it be removed from the mod, along with engaging in horrid behavior that was absolutely unacceptable in any space. Those healthbar changes look absolutely phenomenal, and it would be so nice to have your ally's healthbars also visible without them being on screen! This is shaping up to be such an incredible update
im gonna be honest, despite all of these amazing kickass spoilers that im super hyped for, im weirdly most hyped for the new hud, it legit just looks SO SO good
So basically, they turned the comet crusher into that one sword that rained down ichor from the sky which was the first weapon ever removed from the mod.

I love seeing the Rubico Prime working just like it does in Warframe, in the game it has 5 rounds in the mag and does increased crit damage when scoped, very cool change.
for years the sunken sea biome has been my favorite part of the calamity mod, now thats its getting an update i can only jump in joy, its so precious seeing so alive in the new update :)

The Sunken Sea Update looks to be pretty good for the quality of the weapons. I'm glad Calamity has continued in the direction of quality over quantity. CV's Resprite looks stellar, more in line with its identity as a portal, rather than a black hole. DoG's resprite has seen noticeable improvement, but it could use a bit more spice. On the right track though. People really need to shut up about it "not looking pixelated." The Sunken Sea itself looks to be very elaborate, and I have every expectation for it to be an awesome first act to Calamity, both narratively and visually. From what I've seen and heard, it looks very on point. The Old Duke is an interesting case. Not the solution I would have gone with to his issues, but I'm interested to see if Calamity can stick the landing with him. Good stuff so far. However... The claim that Yharon's resprite has made good progress, something they said 2 years ago, rings a bit hollow after we've been waiting for that chicken to get his resprite for 6 goddamn years now. XD The Desert Scourge Resprite also looks fairly lack-luster, compared to what we had before. Given the situation, its clear they scrambled to make a new sprite after the Bird allegations came out. A heavy loss, but a necessary one. A good demonstration on how inconsistent in its content output Calamity has become unfortunately. Especially compared to where it was in its prime back in 2018 - 2019, where a major update came out once every season, compared to now where we're lucky to get 2 a year. The quality, however, has improved. Of that there can be no doubt. Looking forward to getting back into Calamity when the update drops in (presumably) Q1 2025.

As a long time calamity player, I do enjoy these new changes, but for me, I loved calamity a lot more when the weapons reflected characteristics of the base game. These new weapons are neat and all but like, it’s too much.
I mean I get it but when you have a content mod as large as calamity, it's hard to have weapons that aren't just completely the same from existing weapons other than just a numbers change.

calamity has become a mod that has triple the fan base compared to the base vanilla as well as triple the work then its base counter part (not shaming vanilla its an absolutely masterpiece from what it was) after 100 hours so far in just calamity regular game feels sooo short and slightly underwhelming but thats coming from fighting multiversal dieties then just a celestial one, the OSTs go incrediblly hard as well overall = { Terraria; Calamity and Stellaris; Gigastructures} are my all time favorite mods of any game ever the pure dedication and love is very nice to see

with all these insanely cool weapon changes, i wish they'd finally just fix the bladecrest oathsword already. the attack animation looks kinda goofy, and every other swing sends a projectile behind you instead of where you're aiming.
Just a tip a think would be nice, when showing the weapons, try to show them only on daytime on the game, or in case you're doing it nightime, set a very good bright, otherwise it's kinda difficult to see the weapons imo

Nope. Calamity never has estimated release dates, partially because that would only cause strain on the dev team, and partially because even the devs can't estimate when an update will arrive.
for any type of world generation (in this case the sunken sea biome is getting completely changed) yes you will need to create a new world. For weapon reworks, boss changes, and balance changes these will be automatically applied when the update is released with no need to make another world.

with all these insanely cool weapon changes, i wish they'd finally just fix the bladecrest oathsword already. the attack animation looks kinda goofy, and every other swing sends a projectile behind you instead of where you're aiming.

Just a tip a think would be nice, when showing the weapons, try to show them only on daytime on the game, or in case you're doing it nightime, set a very good bright, otherwise it's kinda difficult to see the weapons imo
i guess they're trying to highlight all the vfx details, but yeah I do agree it is quite dark

Nope. Calamity never has estimated release dates, partially because that would only cause strain on the dev team, and partially because even the devs can't estimate when an update will arrive.

for any type of world generation (in this case the sunken sea biome is getting completely changed) yes you will need to create a new world. For weapon reworks, boss changes, and balance changes these will be automatically applied when the update is released with no need to make another world.
