Wow best RUclips video on how to use a product. Nice verbal description of the simbols too. thank you. Just bought this thermostat for when they put in my new system tomorrow.
An excellent tutorial, the best that I've seen on this thermostat on RUclips. One suggestion, could you expand a bit on Alexa voice commands? For example, is there a voice command to set the fan mode? (i.e. : set fan to auto OR set fan to circulate)
The best explanation of the operation I've seen yet. Covers both the touch panel and app. Very thorough and great pace + additional insights into overall HVAC operation. Well done!
Can you lock the thermostat control so that others cannot mess with it? We are looking to put these in our church and would like to be able to run them on a schedule. I would also like for people to be able to adjust within the range, but also have the unit run back on the schedule after they are done if they forget to reset it. Our current units are not smart thermostats and they allow us to set a program but people can also adjust the thermostats. After 4 hours they reset back to the program. Do you know if this unit works similarly?
Should have an option to disable the fan mode. Likely most wont use it or will turn it on inadvertently. Adds too many modes to toggle though. Just the fan consumes ~5A, that's not insignificant. And absolutely affects it's operating life left always running.
Hi there. According to Amazon description, it is "not compatible with 110-240V HVAC systems". However, can I use it to set up the temperature to activate an external switch that is connected to my electric floor heating system?
Thank you so much for the intro.--any chance you might update to make current with the way the app works now? They've split up the commands into different menus, etc.
Hi this video was very useful. The instruction the amazon thermostat came with did not help out all. question ? Is there a way I can setup so I can see the temperature inside the house and the set temperature both at the same time.
Interested to know the complete list of parameters in the Alexa mobile app that actually map to utterances that Alexa will understand? Fan mode? Setpoints?
this is great and probably works in 90% of applications, but here in the northeast, we have gas boilers and baseboard heat which means no control board at the boiler(instead we have an Aquastat). In my application, the smart thermostat will be controlling both the heat and the AC (R1&C used). I have extra wires (3) coming to the thermostat and a 24v transformer near by boiler, the question is where to connect the 24v to the device?
Excellent! Thanks a lot. Spelling out the name of the app rather than saying the name/word was brilliant 😉 The miles and kms may have been provided to use when setting up away from home ?
Hi. My thermostat has a red light next to the number and does not turn off. How to correct this? Also when I place the off button, it does not show the little symbols
Yes but I wish he would have showed how the turn the fan from automatic to run using just your phone? I still can’t get mine to do that. I can do it at the thermostat but I need to do from my phone HELP !
I can't get schedule to use the right temperature. I don't use heating I live in hot climate year round. I want to set AC to be at 73F during time at home and lower it to 70F when I go to sleep and turn it up to to 73F again when I wake up at 6am and 75F at 5pm-6pm while I eat I don't want my food to get cold. the schedule give me temperature that aren't correct it puts AC at 75F when I am at home which not right and when I am away it sets it to 76F and when I am asleep it's 73F.
The thermostat is pretty limited regarding these types of settings. What you need to do is first set your preferred temps. In your case it only makes sense to use 2 out of the 3 available (home, sleep). For each preferred temp you will be setting a range that you want to be maintained. Since you are not using heat just set that number to something very low and the heat will never come on. Set "Home" to heat=58, cool=73. At that setting your day time temps will be maintained between 58 -73 which means just the AC will ever come on when necessary to hold the house temp at 73 degrees (the house will never drop to 58 which would trigger the heat cycle). Next set "Sleep" to heat=58 and cool=75. At those settings your AC will keep the temp at 75. Forget about the change of temp while eating. Doesn't really make a lot of sense. If you want to change the temp at any time you can simply enter the "Cool" manual mode and set it temporarily to anything you want. Now that you have the "preferred temperatures" set , you need to set up the schedule. Lets say you wake at 8am and go to bed at 10am. Set up two schedules, the first will be set to 8am and use the "home" preferred temp you setup earlier. Then set a second schedule at 10pm and use the "sleep" preferred temp. You can then choose "copy schedule to another day" and apply this same schedule to everyday of the week if that is your choice. Set the mode to auto and you are done. The result when you are done.....8am -10pm the temp will be kept to 73. From 10pm to 8am the temp will be kept to 75. And again any temporary changes can be made by simply using the manual "cool" mode to pick a desired temp. Just flip it back to auto when you are ready and the schedule will continue. This is not hard but somehow not intuitive. I had to mess with it a while to get it working. Also just to be clear, do all of this through the Alexa app on your phone
Will you PLEASE be the only video on this thermostat to explain the exclamation icon!? You have at least 3 comments asking about it that you have not replied to.
Never have been able to get mine to work properly. The best it does is heat and cool but the fan stays on at all times. Even when there was no fan symbol on.
This video assumes you have a forced air heating and cooling system. This thermostat can also control hot water radiator systems controlled by a boiler. In that case the fan operation would not apply to the heat mode as there is no fan on the system.
my dad passed away and his settings Im sure were on his iPhone h0owever he does have the Alexa base unit the large one since im in hot Florida i hate the heat lolol well for all you woman out there you understand my room is right next too the AC unit its brand new basically maybe a year old seems i may have ruined the settings on the amazon temp i have the snow flake no tree at the top personally we never used the heat mode but normally like if its in the 90s outside our main floor is upstairs naturally i do not have the kitchen fan running when the Alexa is but i can use my voice to set her however i just ask Alexa what is the Thermostat set at and it says like example it seemed too be cooler the other day i have it on 73 and it got cool in my room and now i was messing around with the hand settings outside my room, on the thermostat now it seems that i have it 0on just cool and not on automatic help dads not here anymore so the hall is now reading 73 so when should it turn back on at 74 or 75 seems now its going on at 74 is that correct i was afraid to start fooling around since i dont have the app on my iPhone its ok ? to walk up too it and set it on it i dont have the fan on should i ? I dont want to put wear on the unit having it running is there away too have it just go on when the setting is met?
A manual is a printable paper document, not a video! Not living the phone life is a handicap. Can't remember a whole video. I'd have to watch it multiple times. I know it's not your fault, but I did search for a "manual". It's Amazon's fault. But you did do a good job too. Looks like you've reduced the blue output of your once or twice dropped phone. Which is why I don't carry one. I'll have to record this too. For easy access.
He was explaining what the 'FAN' icon and it's operating options are: Auto/On/Circulate Manual doesn't provide any operating details and UI isn't intuitive.

Excellent video! But I have a question, when I use the temperature is above the 68F, there is always "!" light flash, what is this meaning? Thanks.

So with this amazing thermostat how do you turn the fan from auto to constant just by using your phone?
How would I get the device to operate in manual mode off the wall?
Battery icon on.. how do I fix/ replace battery
Excellent! Thanks a lot.

Mine is currently blinking a red exclamation mark on the left side. What does this mean?
I accidentally put forced air instead of the other option so I can access my air. Can you help please!
Very helpful video!

How do you turn off eco mode?
This would work even if I don’t have central air right?
Yes
Would someone please tell me why my thermostat has a yellow flashing light? The heat and air works, I am unsure what it means.
I installed mine but its stuck on set I don't have wifi in my house yet.
I don’t know of a way to set it up without wifi.
Temp fix is to use the Hotspot feature on your phone to complete setup. Basic functions will work normally after w/o a network connection.
Never have been able to get mine to work properly. The best it does is heat and cool but the fan stays on at all times. Even when there was no fan symbol on.
I can no longer set holds in 15 minute increments. Hunches are disabled. I'm on schedule mode.

I’m told that there is a way to lock the thermostat screen. Anyone knows how to do that? (My kid keeps playing with the buttons)
This is what I’m trying to figure out! Have you been able to lock it?
Where’s the link
I have a blinking red light on left side of thermostat
Tiene idioma en español?
I was just looking at this today…is Google spying on me? This was in my feed just now.
yes they are, so get the thermostat so amazon can know how hot or cold you house is.

The printed "manual" is pathetically oversimplified.
How do you turn off the fan? It's very annoying and I don't want it on.
Need to keep toggling 'Mode' button so fan icon not visible with Heat/Coll selected.
The one button UI makes operation confusing and tedious.
The schedule features is the most intentionally not user friendly shit I have ever seen.
You completely skipped over the setup options.
Separate video, he states that at the beginning of this video.
You have to have the fan running anytime you run your ac or heater..... Duh. Why would you say something so dumb
He was explaining what the 'FAN' icon and it's operating options are: Auto/On/Circulate
Manual doesn't provide any operating details and UI isn't intuitive.
There's no way to simply turn your ac /heat on and off by a simple schedule... Piece of crap
Scheduling is done in the app. As with any other smart device.
