This is just one of those most surprising movies I have ever watched that shocked me how good it was at the end, when I didn't know at the time how much I apparently liked ugly gooey gore displayed prolifically on bodies being killed. I diagnosed myself a sick puppy after watching that movie, when I rented it from Blockbuster many years ago.

I was set up across the aisle from Tom Savini at a show just across the river from NYC. We spent the weekend talking movies and models. I was there as a professional model builder and writer, later I became a prop builder, art director, prop master and continued building professionally until I retired.
Tom was one of the coolest people and told me about some of the effects he came up with. Many still used today.

That film also had Juliette Lewis in a very different role. Crazy movie, not sure how they'll feel about that movie though lol 😂
Now that they've seen this film, I hope that they decide to check out the El Mariachi Trilogy. While my favorite Tarantino character was when he played the poor Pick-Up Guy in Desperado (the second film in that trilogy), I think this was his best performance, he's really good at being creepy. The scene where he looks normal but his eyes are different always gives me chills. It's such a good little creepy moment, especially with Seth's tearful reaction. Solid acting by Clooney.

So, Fred Williamson, the "A Team" guy, started out as an NFL player, turned to acting. Bit roles in a number of shows (Star Trek, for example). Leading character in the movie version of MASH. Got cast in a lot of Blaxspliotation movies in the 70s. In the 80s, he headed over to Italy and ended up in lead roles in a lot of low budget Italian action films before heading back to have minor roles throughout the last few decades. 134 roles and counting.
Never actually was on the A Team. 1 episode of Fantasy Island though.

The humorous line, "No thanks, I've already had a wife", was improvised by George Clooney. Director Robert Rodriguez never intended it to be in the final cut, but after the studio included the line in a trailer, he felt obligated to include it in the film.
Salma Hayek has a real fear of snakes and had always refused to be near them. Naturally when she read the script, she knew her phobia would prevent her from taking the part. Robert Rodriguez conned her into thinking that Madonna was ready to nab the part instead so Hayek spent two months with therapists to overcome her fear.
Salma Hayek did not have a choreographer for her dance, because, according to her, you can't choreograph the live snake she wore around her neck. So director Robert Rodriguez just told her to feel the music and dance to it.
Rodriguez used the same tactic with Jessica Alba in Sin City (2005).
Green blood was used for the vampires to get the movie past the censors.

"This bar is for bikers and truckers only": If they only knew that he was trying to spare them, hahahhaa...
When the Queen Vampire is stalking the room, she is smelling out the people looking for the one that reeks the most of evil. That is why she hones in on him first. I think these vampires have a moral code, and that is why they only pick bikers and truckers hahahaa!!! Not saying that bikers and truckers are generally shady people, buuut....

I bought the soundtrack and recently, I bought the out-of-print published screenplay. Before the film was released on home video, a friend got me a bootleg VHS. I used to run it on my TV in the background, while I did homework or art. I know this movie backwards and forwards, inside and out. The feature-length documentary, Full Tilt Boogie is also a ton of fun. They went through a lot to get this movie made and I'm so happy it's getting the love and recognition it deserves.
