I was curious to see what their town looked like before this horrific tragedy. I'm sure everyone reading this is sending you all their best. Stay safe and we'll all hope this is over soon.
Prayers for the people of Lahaina, the island of Maui, and state of Hawai’i …. ❤️😭🙏 The August 2023 Fires were such a devastating loss…. I still cannot believe what I saw. The people, animals, plants, and places that are affected are on my Mind and in my Heart … This video is now a beautiful honor to what Lahaina was… and I ask people to put good energy and support as the community of Lahaina rebuilds ❤️🩹🙏
I've spent about four months on Maui over the years. Much of it on the West side. My heart goes out to the people that are lost, their families, and the people that have lost their home. Much aloha to you.
In the 90’s 12 of us stayed at Kapalua Resort for a wonderful golf vaca. We went to Lahaina and Kaanapali to eat many suppers during that week. Lahaina was a lovely, quaint town that was a highlight of our trip. Sad to see all the devastation there now. Praying for all of the families affected by this.
Visited Maui in 2016 and think it's the most beautiful place in the world! ❤ Thank you for making this video. It was a great virtual visit as we are quarantined because of the COVID virus. Good job! Aloha 🌺🌈
Visited in 2007, Lahaina, Kaanapali and Kapalua. My fav is Kapalua, the beautiful Golf courses and the Kapalua Beach Villas. "Lahaina Shores" was our main stay Hotel. I would love, to go back. Thank you for this great RUclips 👍💜🙏.
Holy cow! That's almost a half century ago. I'll bet there were much fewer hotels then. It's way overbuilt and over crowded now. I lived there in the early 80's. Was still pretty nice back then. You ever going back? PS. 72 was a good year...the year I graduated from high school! :)
Looks like a good place to visit. I'm at Cape Town, South Africa. It also has good beaches. And, what I've recently seen (September 2022 now), is that for instance when it is 10.30 am there, it is 10.30 pm here. Amazing.
Yes, at 1:08 we enjoyed lunch very much, great food, friendly workers, good price, fresh fish, waterfront dining with perfect atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Mahalo. This video has brought me some comfort after seeing the destruction of the beautiful town of Lahaina, which we visited in 2004. Mai ka luku ʻana e hānau hou ʻia. Hoʻouna aloha i ko kākou mau hoahānau ma Hawaiʻi nei. 🤙🏻
Which part of Hawaii had the mountain erupt and the lava invade peoples homes, a few years back? Unfortunately when I flew from Auckland to LA and stopped in Honolulu, that’s all I got to see Hawaii. But what I did see was beautiful. This was back in the mid 80’s. A long time ago.
You forgot Kaanapali Villas Kaanapali Shores The Royal Lahaina Resort which is right next to Kaanapali Golf Course And the El dorado just before Sheraton Maui. Kaanapali Beach goes from the Hyatt Regency to Kaanapali Villas. Then it’s Honokowai, Kahana, Napili and Kapalua. You did a great job of locating the smaller beaches within those sections. Very well produced!
Great video, I was in Kaanapali last April but spent most of time shooting drone videos. I'm scheduled to visit again next April 2021. Can you provide incite on Maui and the covid situation? Are a lot of shops currently closed? Basically is Maui opened?
Ironically Oahu is where I've been living for 52 years but do not shoot much here in my backyard. Maybe I might, depending on reactions to my Maui series, which will roll out in coming weeks. Oahu is a beautiful place with many stories to tell.
Splendid job! We had to cancel our 2020 trip there but hope it will still be there in 2021. I know it is a LOT of work, but if you are there on Maui, or any other island, why wouldn't you keep on making these? please.
There is a series of these uncrowded beaches 4-8 miles south of Lahaina on the west side, some like this with no facilities, no shower, no name, no toilets or food, so they are quite empty and wonderful. There are some beach parks, like Launiupoko Beach Park, with facilities.
We stayed in Kahana Sunset in 2019 and are planning to come back in August 2023. We just loved Maui and can´t wait be back next year. Can Anyone recommend a good and price acceptable accommodation. Mahalo from freezing cold Germany
Looks good. But, what they no doubt won't tell you, and is true, is that it's very hot and humid there. Thus, being covered in sweat a lot. It's no doubt thus better to go there in winter. I know for instance that cars in Hawaii don't need heaters.
In the summer, yes high 80s or 90, but no higher, and if the trades are blowing (most of the time) it is not humid, tolerable in the shade. Cool off in the ocean. In winter, much nicer, high 70s and low 80s, often breezy, not humid, just perfect. Humid days are Kona weather, maybe 15-20% of the time.
taking a tour in a small van would be a good way to see it. There are several operators you can find by googling "road to hana tours" Prices range from $200-$400, with pickup at most hotel areas.
You missed one of the prettiest beaches on the west. NAPILI BAY. It goes beyond what you decribed as Napili beach. Oh well. At least it wont be as over run as the beaches you mentioned.
I live in Napa, CA. Do you have any men’s XL items or merchandise from the Hula Grill in Lahaina? Or do you know anyone who does? I ate there and forgot to buy and merchandise, souvenirs. Apparel, short sleeve dress shirts, polo shirts, T-shirts, cups, mugs from the bar, etc. Thanks for the information.
So much buildings with wood, adding powerlines, that are for centuries outdated. And then they ask, why this place burned so quick to the ground. Where all those luxury hotels are, everything is still standing.....
Unfortunately as one with 100 year plus family roots Lahaina will be years in the recovery, and it's destruction beyond the human cost could cost the island as mainland wealthy and developers from the US, Japan and China rush in to buy up the destroyed properties with the result being even fewer homes for the real Hawaiian people and just more concert bunkers with mainland restaurants and high shops so the tourist can feel like they are home for dinner. Lets pray this is not the case but given the week government and the deep level of greed in government it could sadly happen.
That is a real possibility, especially considering the astronomical cost of housing, and high price for construction here. Our government has always been weak, as you say, but hopefully with Gov. Green, they can formulate a plan. I'm sure the displaced residents would want to return to new homes that looked like their old ones, but fortified this time, against the flames that will always lurk on those hills.

Unbelievable this beautiful town was wiped off the map. God Bless everyone there 🙏

Praying for this wonderful area and the wonderful people that experienced the horrible fire tragedy. God bless the island and prayers for all.
Ka Manaolana no ko Lahaina . Aloha ❤😢✊🏽
I absolutely love Maui, especially the West Side. We stayed in Kaanapali when we were there, and I'm cannot wait to get back.
What a great and now historical document 😪💔
Lahaina was Hawaii's best town, now just a memory, the most tragic event to hit Hawaii since the arrival of Captain Cook.
@@denniscallan your work deserves preservation in the Library of Congress imho

We explored so many of the western beaches. So gorgeous and can't wait to get back. Mahalo!
Thank you, you’re the best when it comes to travel videos period!
Just watching this video since we can't go this year, and my wife and I and one of our friends are in it! Kinda fun

Love a tour of the national forrest area
Great video! You have the perfect voice for broadcasting. Sending our love and Prayers to Maui! 😢
We love Maui and will be there soon.
Thumbs up from me! Great video Dennis!

Awesome! Thank you so much sir. Keep these Maui videos coming!
OK I will. Complete coverage will roll out in coming weeks.
Love this area of the island. I don’t just drive past those isolated beaches

Great content 👍💯
Good job, must watch again 🤓
Gracias por la información.. Muy valiosa para planear mis proximas vacaciones
Thank you for this video. Now there is a way we can still have some experience of Maui.😕
Yes, Maui is open in Kihei and Wailea areas -- the best way to help is come now and enjoy the rest of the island and help the economy.
Beautiful! ❤️. 👍
This was such a nicely done video. Mahalo for including us! Let us know the next time you are coming in.

thanks for the info buddy, i'll be there in March!! i will visit some of the beaches for sure
My husband and I took the submarine ride loved it
@Silvia Hoard sorry I looked it up but couldn’t find it, I do remember it was on a large bay not far from the airport,
What a shame. Wildfires have burned most of this down, today, August 10th, 2023. 😢
Nice video! Thank you. We are going in November/December. Wondering if the water will be too cold to swim in? We like the water to be in the 80's.
Water is never too cold to swim here.
Thank you

Maui Sunset in Kihei
Look at that sea of white, geezussah
I used to go to a restaurant in Los Angeles called "Back home in Lahaina". Now it has been renamed "Nothing left in Lahaina."
We have no idea where to check in?
Can you tell me more about the road that goes around the island?
My Hana movie is coming out soon, thanks.
Seems you forgot about Napili beach?
OK, there are many beaches there,k hard to cover them all in 15 minutes...maybe a sequel someday
Understandable. Thank you for your efforts.
I’m shocked how narrow the beaches have become on Maui and Oahu, compared to So. California’s beaches.

The calm Pacific Ocean (that specific ocean).
I was wondering if the ocean there is warm or cold?
mahalo!

Pretty sure that sunset is over Molokai, not Lana'i

very nice but house prices are through the roof..locals must be pushed out by the rich brats...

Shipping stuff to Hawaii is expensive, dude. They have to work with what they have.
