That's because originally this was the model for Death Knight. If I remember correctly Reverents were listed in a book that came with buying the WCIII pack as deceased Paladins who were not bound by the scourges magic and may have had a sense of aggressive honour about them. Obviously they've since been tied primarily towards the elements, however I assume this was the original idea.

Uther say "we defeated their demons along time ago". So burning legion was still there but with orc. And frostmourne must have been stolen when he getting prison thing. And it here now. And all that must be nezul plan since kelthuzad said nezul chose arthas before scourge begin which very long time ago. So being prison was his plan and knew he fail before. It my theory
If you mean those few that aided Arthas and Murdadin before Arthas finds Frostmourne they just disappear even if they don't all die to monsters between gateway and during Guardian fight. Personally i always assumed they died during Guardian fight and only Arthas and Muradin survived, tho if you play your cards right they can all survive. But will still disappear.
@@Zero60133 OR, he did killed all of his escorts (riflemen and knights) after he claimed Frostmourne in order to prevent them from telling Captain Falric on how Muradin died on the hands of Arthas (though he was later found out to be alive).
The ice that encased Frostmourne got broken and splashed in front of him. Later on, it was found out that during the time Arthas claimed Frostmourne, Muradin was alive though unconscious.
