One thing that really bugged me with that movie was the inclusion of the aliens. Like where did they come from? That was the first time aliens had ever been mentioned in the whole X-Men cinematic world of like 8+ movies, they felt like a very odd addition especially because we never even get to know what exactly their goal was. It's more frustrating because they were supposed to be a big part of the movie. I have a lot of issues with that movie (like that anti-climatic ending) but my major problem was with the aliens.

Wrong. Licensing is expensive, and they didn’t say anything, but also, the age of the characters used did not line up with the timeline. It was just a gag for the film. Though, Deadpool vs Wolverine seems to be doing some more with the licensing and story to correct this.
