DELICIOUS Rockfish STREET TACOS with Pico De Gallo! Jetty Fishing Catch and Cook

  • Today we're out on the Oregon coast, Jetty Fishing with the plan to catch & cook rockfish street tacos. Rock Fishing for black bass, kelp greenling or lingcod. I want to fish each of the tides... incoming tide, slack tide, and outgoing tide with multiple jetty fishing rigs in hopes of being able to individually target Lingcod, Black bass, and Kelp Greenling.
    My usual fishing time on the jetty is an hour before slack tide, through slack tide, and an hour into the tide change. After that i call it quits because the current really gets moving through the jetty and it makes it much tougher to get to the fish without potentially losing a bunch of gear.
    I arrived to the coast fairly late and didn't have a whole lot of time to do much jetty fishing. I did make a quick stop along the way and grabbed a few clams from the bay for bait, which managed to catch me one of my rockfish for the fish tacos.
    After sleeping in my rig i headed back to the jetty.....after making a stop for a quick coffee at the R&R Coffee shop in Rockaway (one of my favorite coffee shops on the oregon coast) it sits right next to Lake Lytle, where i have done quite a bit of trout and bass fishing from my kayak.
    Arriving the next morning, it was basically prime time. The incoming tide was just coming to an end and slack tide started producing a good number of fish before the tide change.
    I did manage to catch another lingcod on a 1oz swimjig with just a plastic grub on it (Chartreuse). any day that i can feel the strength and fight of a lingcod is a good day.
    After the tide change things really started to slow down so i decided that it would be a good time to get to cooking.
    The fish tacos were absolutely incredible! Thanks to my girlfriend for making me some outstanding pico and hooking me up with a new bottle of Secret Aardvark Sauce.
    Overall this was another fun and successful trip fishing the jetty.
    I hope you all enjoy the video......

    Looks great! Small tip on the pico (I'm a retired chef). Dice the onions & immediately a quick rinse & dry with cold H2O. It washes away the Sulphur compound that gives them that sharp bite, and gives you better flavor.

    Hey man I struggle in the morning to catch fish. In your opinion is it better to start fishing as the sun is cresting the horizon? For example tomorrow sun rise is 640 and slack starts at 7? Or do you just make sure to hit slack regardless of sun? And then Aside from nautical charts whats some markers you look for a nice hole to sit in? Rock fish are by far my favorite fish to go out and get randomly in the week but I struggle with the morning bite.

    Where were you? Looks easy enough for me and my bad hip to get to fish. Also maybe my fishing buddy who uses a wheelchair.

    • @AnglingAddictsPNW
      @AnglingAddictsPNW  3 года назад

      This was barview jetty in Garibaldi. It's a pretty rough area, though...... if you get a spot close enough to the water and have a decent length rod, you can easily fish from the parking lot. A bait rig setup would be best for that distance. I'm not sure on wheelchair accessible areas on the coast since i've never needed to consider it before, but i will definitely keep an eye out for spots and pass along the info

      The store just as you turn off highway 101 has free ride chart booklets. Also, many other stores along the coast. And, here is the website that I've been using:
      www.tideschart.com/United-States/Oregon/Tillamook-County/Barview-Jetty/

      Tides for Fishing is a great website. I use it every time I’m out there, if you type in your location it gives great information on specific spots. Hope this helps!

    I haven't seen all your videos so you may have a video on it but I was wondering if you ever use the crab-loop whatever you call it things that you cast with a fishing rod and the crab gets caught in the loops of heavy mono? I use to catch a lot of crab off of Barview Jetty with those.

    • @AnglingAddictsPNW
      @AnglingAddictsPNW  3 года назад

      Lightnin Hopkins - I’m actually really surprised I haven’t used one yet. It’s a crab snare and I see guys doing it a lot at barview. I’m gonna have to do some crabbing vids since I don’t have any. I usually throw pots from my kayak, but have been thinking about getting a setup for the jetty.

    When you say slack tide. What time is that is that like a halfway point between high and low?

    • @gypsyfreedom9836
      @gypsyfreedom9836 2 года назад

      @Ben Adamson "slack" is refering to the time just before/after the high or the low. This is when the direction of flow reverses and as such the current is "slack" as in no or minimal flow.

    Fun video. How far out do you have to walk out on the jetty for a good chance on getting on to rockfish (old guy, lol)?

    • @AnglingAddictsPNW
      @AnglingAddictsPNW  2 года назад +1

      Here, depending on where you park, you can walk less than 100 feet or you can walk out on the jetty further, but you can catch them anywhere when they are around. No need to put in the extra footwork on the rocks to get somewhere “better”

      @Kryptonian541 yes you can. You can basically fish the jetty all year long. Spring and summer are typically better fishing and “safer” conditions. Winter fishing is usually cold, wet, windy, and slick.

      @@AnglingAddictsPNW sounds about right. It was my first time out at both. I spent a half hour at Barview, and a few hours over two days at South Jetty. There were Herring schools, warm temps, and colored water so I think that explains why there was no action except for one linger I missed on my first cast.
