Hi MBMARS I had to play the beginning a few times. A runner ran in front of the 8098 it looked kind of close to me. I loved the close up of Norfolk Southern 8332 nice job. Thanks for the video I appreciate it .
WOW! Spectacular video! I never get tired of the close- ups.I realize the guy running in front of the U.P train wasn't really that close to it but it still seems dangerous...of course not everyone is a railfan.Had i been there i would have watched them roll by! LOL!
To mbmars01, I sincerely thank you for the videos of Meridian, MS and the surrounding area. Back in my young days, this was home. My father worked maintenance of way for the Southern Railway out of Meridian. I can recall the days of the Southern Railway Crescent gliding into Meridian resplendent in it's green and cream paint and the sight of SD40's running long hood forward in the Southern tradition. At the time, I thought that this was the epitome of railroading, little did I know of the vast world out there that dwarfed what I was seeing. I feel a strange urge to apologize that the area that I used to call home is now so subdued, a shadow of it's former self it seems to me. Well, enough ramblings about days gone by. Again, thank you for the memories. Gregory
Hi Greg, thank you very much for sharing your memories. I'm happy my video could refresh your impressions of the "good old days". It's true, some of the trackside buildings don't look nice, but many towns share this fate, which is unfortunate.
Yes, they are going to retire them into storage because of the Precision Scheduled Railroading program. Currently, 84 C40-8Ws are stored out of the 153 of them.
That's right. And since the rebuild program failed (the Dash 8.5s have various technical issues and most are out of service), their days are definitely counted on NS.

I don't think there was any danger. Not sure, if the gates were already down at this time. The train had just started up.

Lol, I agree. I don't run away from trains either, but like to watch them instead.
0:36 Just to be clear, Conrail 8098 was NOT sold to UP. LOL The lead unit on the UP train was 8098. BTW, awesome catch!
Right - and I didn't claim that. Thanks!

Nice video! I visited and found a great spot off 1st street where they perform crew change / refueling with KCS's Meridian yard right behind!
Thanks! I think I remember this spot, but I haven't filmed there yet.
Terrific catches/power!

Great catches! If you saw NS 9921 lead then you would have got to hear the RS5T horn that it has.
Thanks! Well, I'm not too eager to watch an NS Dash 9 leading. I've already seen too many of those lol.
Very nice especially for EX CR Dash 8
Thanks!
Great to see you on my home turf
I enjoyed being in that area. The entire trip was great fun.
mbmars01 mbmars01 glad to hear and I also was able to see NS8332 on the Meridian Subdivision just 2 days before you which was really neat
So it bounced back and forth for some time. Nice.

PEOPLE MAKE ME SO SICK WHEN THEY DO THIS 0:47 NOW IM ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It probably looked more dangerous than it was as the zoom seems to shorten the perspective and the train had just started moving.
@@mbmars01 Oh
Great video. Cool shots. Did u see any heritage units on your trip?
Thanks! I saw a kind of a heritage unit (but not NS)... Will be in one of the future videos :)
mbmars01. Ok thanks looking forward to it.
Was the rebuild program DC to act traction?
If you mean the Dash 8 rebuild program, this wasn't DC-to-AC conversion and it wasn't successful.
Does anyone know if ns is going to retire their c40-8w locos over half are stored last I looked

great video 8332 EX conrail!!
Thanks! It certainly would have looked better in blue :)
There aren't many dash 8-40 cw's left in service correct or incorrect???
I think most of them are being put into storage.
That's right. And since the rebuild program failed (the Dash 8.5s have various technical issues and most are out of service), their days are definitely counted on NS.
Ok thank you.
Good ole Meridian
I hope the passengers on that Amtrak were seated.
