@All Trains Great And Small... That unit you saw on the Flatcar was NS 9646 after it was stored in Altoona PA because of a Derailment it was in back in July of 2022
Thanks for the update Steve! It appears the first batch of rebuilt Ex CEFX units have been going through much more extensive testing than the other C6Ms would, but I know by now they’ll return to NS soon enough. I liked seeing that cool switcher moving 2 of the AC44s featured, not to mention a new CSX rebuild passing by.
Let me remind people although this NS AC44 are the same as CSX or any railroad you can think of they don't feature the new MCA system that are present in CSX and UP rebuilds they aren't gonna be called CM44AC no they are gonna AC44C6M although some might mistaken the NS AC44 to CM44 they're different in each other ( mostly having a raised radiator on the long hood forward)
The ones rebuilt in Fort Worth got upgrades to the radiators. That’s the only thing different between the 3900’s and 4000’s. I’d imagine these will receive the same treatment like the 3900’s sent to Fort Worth.
Absolutely amazing video! So nice that some CEFX units have come to Erie! I believe there are more to come as well since there were 10 in the initial move from Altoona. Also, very interesting on the 9646! Wonder if there are any other wreck units to come or if that was the only one needing modernization from whatever event took place. Also, any update on 2001’s shipment or readiness for departure?
@@stephankoenig5481 I know the trucks are changed as part of the rebuild project. But yeah maybe something to roll on until then, no need to send the DC motors I guess.

You are correct!
@@stephankoenig5481... Great also did they already made a Paint scheme for BHP 9001 yet or are they still in the Process of doing it?
@@zdthelehighlinerailfan5362 Its still in gray primer.
@@stephankoenig5481... Oh ok plus i did notice that Ex CEFX units are gonna be Rebuilt as AC44C6Ms for the end of this year or for 2025?
@@zdthelehighlinerailfan5362 These here are for 2025.

@@allohiorailfan6123 I assume so. There are now 5 of them here.
@@stephankoenig5481 what are the #s of the other two that aren't in the video above?
@@seangraham-white5816 3974 was the only other one I could verify. Also the 3 completed ones arrived today.
Interesting they would send the trucks for the 9646 considering they get replaced with the rebuild.
Looks like they were already prepped for rebuild. It could be just to have something to set it on once they remove it from the flatcar.

I only spotted 5 but the rest may have been hidden. RHB 2001 should be sent out by January 1.
9646 is being rebuilt directly into an AC44C6M. Interestingly the trucks on the flat have idler axles on them. No traction motors.
I think those trucks may have been sent just to have something to set the unit on once it is off the flatcar.

@Alcochaser likely so.

Wonder if any were originally built in Erie.
@@tonyansill3093 Basically everything before 2012 was built in Erie.
Still surprised that CP didn't buy out at least some of the units after leasing them for that long, anything to delay having to run tier 4 junk.
I am surprised too. Some of these were stored in really bad places so NS probable got them cheap.
Would be cool if ns ordered battery uints too 😆
