you know... this amv actually gave me a new perspective on this entire matter. since the books came out, i heavily judged and resented yellowfang and spottedleaf for encouraging leafpool to keep her relation to the three a secret, but now i think i understand. yellowfang had "illegal" kits, and her openly admitting to her and raggedstar's relationship costed wishkit and hopekit their lives. as yellowfang stood there, staring down at leafpool in a near-identical situation as she was in all those moons ago, she saw herself in leafpool and decided that she wouldn't let these kits have the same fate as her's. so despite the negative effects on leafpool's mental state and the stress the lies put on those who knew, she encouraged her to keep them a secret, to spare them a potential untimely death at the claws of someone who disagreed with her actions. yellowfang may have inadvertently caused a lot of the issues that arose in the future due to these secrets, but for a little while, she kept those kits safe, alive, and happy, and that's all that would have mattered in her eyes.
i love this video and yellowfang as a character, but i'm either hugely misinterpreting this comment or it's entirely incorrect? Yellowfang never admitted to her and raggedstar's relationship. it was kept a secret, that she only revealed to Brokentail as he was dying to the deathberries she gave him. on top of that, to keep the secret safe, she had to kit alone, without the assistance of another medicine cat, which could've saved the lives of her kits. you could go as far as to say that admitting to her relationship would've actively improved their chances of surviving.
I like Yellowfang, but there's no excuse for what what she told Leafpool to do. In fact, she told her to do EXACTLY what she had done in Brokenkit situaition, which had tragic consequences: to lie to everyone about the origin of the kittens.

that little motif of the slow pans up to the sky, and how the cloudiness there after her kit's death represents a clouding of her faith in starclan... and the subtle way squirrelflight is introduced with her back turned, so even an audience unfamiliar with warrior cats is immediately reminded of firestar and therefore makes the connection of them being related, and the emotional significance of that, after seeing her white muzzle... just... these little examples of your masterful composition always shine through and make viewing these AMVs a real pleasure. i could write fuckin ESSAYS - dont even get me started on your beautiful animation and pacing understanding of weight this comment is already too long!
I know I’m late to the party but I absolutely love the subtle detail of Wishkit and Hopekit looking like Fireheart and Cinderpelt, reminding Yellowfang of the kits she never got to have.
It may actually be more emotional if you don t know the entire story and how dissapointing it is (this is how warriors is, it has good ideas but they re writen really badly, good we have the famdom to fix it)

I think a lot of people get mad at Yellowfang for lying to Squirrelflight and setting up the whole “they are not my kits” fiasco, but seeing it from the perspective of how punished she felt for having half clan kits and how she wouldn’t want that to happen to Leafpool it makes her more sympathetic. Really well done :)
Add that she knew Squirrelflight would be a good mother and would raise heros, not monsters. Poor Yellowfang felt she was giving leafs kits the chance hers never had

(Orange, diamond shaped pupils) and as she looks down at Brokenkit, he looks up at her with those eyes and dies with those same eyes. When Yellowfang looks down at Leafpool, those same eyes stare back at her :,) since Yellowfang wanted Firestar to be her son, I could see this as referencing how Yellowfang might have wished that Squirrelflight and Leafpool were her granddaughters. yellowfang's struggles were a lot of my interest in the first series. she was very interesting when introduced and did provide a new perspective not seen in thunderclan thus far. her death will always be unique and special.

the thing about yellowfang is that we know people like her. there are countless older people who live on this planet that are grandparents, great grandparents, and they have wonderful involvement in their families, but they've been through horrible things that we would never even know about. i love yellowfang so much, she is relentlessly caring about those around her despite what she's been through, just as a grandmother would be.
This is beyond fantastic. You infused the animation with such amazingly powerful emotions, I’ve rewatched it over and over and I still hunger for more taste of this masterpiece. What do I praise first? The part with Brokenkit/Brokenstar, the part where she looks beyond the Thunderpath, the ending in the snow with Squilf and Leaf...? Everything is so tasteful and satisfying. I’m sure that this will become one of the top Warriors AMVs in no time. Yellowfang has always been a favorite of mine. She’s just such an interesting cat. Her personality is one of the more unique ones, and I was especially drawn to her story arc. She may not be the most chivalrous or best cat, and she may have made some questionable decisions throughout her life (and afterlife!), but the way her personality and backstory affect her decisions makes me so incredibly satisfied with her character as both a reader and a writer. I’m SO glad to see more of her! :D

man, thank you for making this emotional and yet so soul cleansing Yellowfang PMV too many people tend to only show Yellowfang in the bad lights she put herself in well after death. but when she was alive in the first series, she was my absolute favorite character. I do not blame people for only showing bad sides of her, because in all fairness we see her primarily well after her death, and the quick deterioration to extreme paranoia that came with being dead. but from what I always gathered through reading her character, including Yellowfang's special edition, she was just a very flawed cat who made very bad decisions. and I'm glad you made this video to showcase the solemn sorrow and regrets of her failures. but man, what esspecially hit me was the end scene... the obvious genetic similarities between Firestar and his daughter, Squirrelflight, and her unspoken understanding as she gazed at Leafpool... This AMV is so beautiful. Yellowfang has so many layers to her and I love her to death. Her tragedies were so bitter, but she never truly gave up. She sees herself in Leafpool and Squirrelflight, two she cats entangled in a forbidden, medicine cat kitting, much like herself. A fate all too familiar. It gives me chills with the final scene. Past mistakes echo into the future, and unlike the past, there is someone to guide them, instead of being completely and utterly alone, like that cold night on the border of Shadowclan territory
I cannot tell how many times I’ve repeated watching this video. Prob 50+ or more. Its not even the animation that makes this so delicious and immaculate, it’s just the song itself and how it fits. I applaud you Ursiday for this work of art.

There is such a surreal sense of irony surrounding the idea of Yellowfang acting as Leafpool’s guardian angel of sorts. They’re the same: Two medicine cats who gambled on love and broke the warrior code and now have to pay for their sins by watching tragedy befall their kits and their clan as they watch helplessly. At least Leafpool had two kits that lived long, virtuous lives. What did Yellowfang get…?

Yellowfang has always been my favorite charter and seeing this is all the reason I love her. She was like a mother to Fireheart at the same time a friend.. I cried when she died and this is the reason why.

gosh this is so beautiful. one of my favorite christmas songs too. yellowfang is such a sad character and you pictured the gloominess of her life perfectly here. the low frame rate really adds to it. so moving!

i do not often cry but this video made me tear up for real. the music is perfect, the framing of all the shots is excellent... i think the part that made me tear up most was the end with squirrelflight facing away from the camera and then turning to look - definitely nailed the 'this is firestar's daughter' implication. yellowfang is one of my favorite characters in the og series and this was an excellent homage to her life!

Non-StarClan Yellowfang was and will always be my favorite warriors character. Such an amazing arc and hard life she had.

This AMV is so beautiful. Yellowfang has so many layers to her and I love her to death. Her tragedies were so bitter, but she never truly gave up. She sees herself in Leafpool and Squirrelflight, two she cats entangled in a forbidden, medicine cat kitting, much like herself. A fate all too familiar. It gives me chills with the final scene. Past mistakes echo into the future, and unlike the past, there is someone to guide them, instead of being completely and utterly alone, like that cold night on the border of Shadowclan territory
I cannot tell how many times I’ve repeated watching this video. Prob 50+ or more. Its not even the animation that makes this so delicious and immaculate, it’s just the song itself and how it fits. I applaud you Ursiday for this work of art.

There is such a surreal sense of irony surrounding the idea of Yellowfang acting as Leafpool’s guardian angel of sorts. They’re the same: Two medicine cats who gambled on love and broke the warrior code and now have to pay for their sins by watching tragedy befall their kits and their clan as they watch helplessly. At least Leafpool had two kits that lived long, virtuous lives. What did Yellowfang get…?
This is amazing, I noticed that when SquirrelFlight turns to YellowFang she has some facial similarity to FireStar so non-warrior cat readers understand that that's Fire'Stars children

i do not often cry but this video made me tear up for real. the music is perfect, the framing of all the shots is excellent... i think the part that made me tear up most was the end with squirrelflight facing away from the camera and then turning to look - definitely nailed the 'this is firestar's daughter' implication. yellowfang is one of my favorite characters in the og series and this was an excellent homage to her life!
