    Get there Mr.Hugh thank for all you do. I just installed the new GoPro plug-in. When I add the FX to my Insta OneX 360 it makes the video black. And when I play the video it's upside down and in different colors. P L E A S E H E L P thank you for your time!

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  4 года назад

      Have you remove the Insta360 Premiere plugin and only add in the video file? Have you transcode it into ProRes before editing? Insta360 does not generate standard mp4 and lots of headache - standardize it into ProRes or Cineform before editing. And don't use their Premiere auto stitch.

  • @RasKitchen

    Thanks large for this tutorial! Is anyone else having issues with Premiere while working on the footage? I created pro-res files, made proxies (720p) so usually when I do that I can work with footage quickly and easily. When I add the GoPro FX Reframe plugin, it makes Premiere run very slow.....it drops audio, skips around, playback wont start/stop right away and basically seems like my system is choking on the footage. When I try to keyframe it seems to get worse. I turned the quality playback to 1/4 and it seems to improve, but then after a while it will start having problems again playing back. I'm running a 2018 Macbook on Big Sur 11.2.1, Processor 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7, memory 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4, Graphics Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB
    Any ideas would be much appreciated!

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  3 года назад

      Hey Ras, big fan! So Premiere GoPro FX Reframe is basically an After Effects plugin running inside Premiere - you will need enable GPU acceleration. But your 2018 Macbook pro GPU won't be fast enough - so you will neither need an eGPU or directly edit in After Effects. Let me know if you need more help. Feel free to reach out to us learning[AT]creatorup.com or hit me up on IG: hugh.hou - maybe we can collab and we can help edit your footage. Cheers!

    thanks for the video, would you recommend H.264 as a proxy candidate if you have disk space consideration? I have found that since the H.264 encoding is intraframe the performance is not bad but is your experience different?

    • @hughhou
      @hughhou  4 года назад

      Yes, don't use H.264 as proxy as Premiere need to decode to play back - so the better suggestion is get a bigger hard drive. You will get slower performance - slower than original if you use H.264 - not worth the effort.

    • @AeBlues
      @AeBlues 4 года назад

      @@hughhou Thanks. this was my original thought but for a long time of testing I found that H.264 proxies are preforming very well much better than original. especially with 4K highly compressed footage. I teach students with laptops so disk space for them is crucial. I have now just for test took a 4k equirectangle and proxied it to 1920x960 H.264 with 16CBR and it runs smoothly. the bar is yellow of course but performance is fine and much better. will keep testing taking all consideration into account.

    I’ve watched a lot of your different videos and have been working to get some 360 videos put together to play on the quest. Recently I thought I had figured out a good work flow (stitching in Mistika, importing into PP, using a proxy to edit, and exporting using aftercodecs) which seemed to be working, but all of a sudden now when I export in 360 from premiere pro (2020) in the video I am getting 180 degrees showing the video and the other 180 just black. Important: QuickTime 7 for Windows is no longer supported by Apple. New versions of Windows since 2009 have included support for the key media formats, such as H.264 and AAC, that QuickTime 7 enabled.

    I suggest to everyone to download Resolve 15 free (not the 16 beta version it's very buggy) and just use it to create proxies. It's SO MUCH FASTER than AME, I get 30-40 fps for a file that in AME renders at 5fps for the same settings. I use H264 because my computer can deal with it in ease. I wish Resolve had all the VR features in the CC suite and could export 8Kx8K (at the moment I can only export 5.7Kx5.7k, and again it's running super fast, like 10-15 fps). Working with the timeline in Resolve - I get no issues and very little lag working with 8Kx8K footage. It's only Adobe that's lagging.

      @@hughhou I plan to do a lot of videos on all the stuff I have learned so far :) I haven't tried Fusion 16 yet, I don't think it's free or that you can download a trial but I'll try! I am surprised they released a new version of it, as it was basically integrated into Resolve in the last version and seemed to have had exactly the same features and nodes, so I thought it would just be one product from now. I was always more into Stereoscopic stuff, VR is new for me. In Resolve 15 (and Fusion 9 which is integrated into it) it's actually much faster rendering-wise to work with your own stereoscopic workflow (cut the frame in the middle into two timelines and import them, sort of like you would pre-comp in after effects or nest sequences in Premiere) than use the Stereo tools/nodes they provide which are soooo slow but much more convenient. I understand that in 16 it's much faster and uses the GPU, so this is the first thing I want to check, but I am yet to test it - it took a while to get everything running even with the free version, it's buggy, I had to update my video drivers and not sure if it will support it.
      I have a question for you - in AE - do I still have to split my stereo VR footage to separate compositions to work with the Edit VR tools? It's very difficult for example when 'painting' over my tripod to copy it from the left comp to the right, because you have to put the 'angle' in the edit view exactly the same in both and I am not sure how to even control it. It would be so good if it was possible to edit up/down together.
