Swapping Michelin Power Pure SC Tires for Kenda KD1 on the Repsol Grom

Swapping out the Michelin Power Pure tires for something a lot stickier and more importantly the right size. I also discuss different tire options for the Honda Grom and the Honda Monkey. I had been running the 140/70 rear tire and it was too wide and was noticeable in the corners.

As someone who rips the dragon nearly every weekend on my grom. There is a significant difference between the Vee rubbers and the Power Pures. The KD1 and KD2 are definitely a better tire for that kind of aggressive riding. The Power Pures are my favorite overall tire, being that its dual compound its the perfect paring longer distance riding and performance when needed. Its really too bad they have been discontinued.

Bike are designed from the ground up. Changing out the tire sizes to something else is not different from swapping out the steering or brakes for some other size. The entire system is designed to operate as a cohesive unit. You could have some catastrophic results doing that.

Can confirm the stock vee rubbers are compete shit in the rain. But they do make loud noises when you lock up the rear brakes

The grom is a super flighty fast turning bike and found the roso 2 kd2 are brilliant but have pointed profiles, whith a flatter profile like maxis my steering flows and I'm lower and quicker...

The Power Pures are discontinued, The Ruck Shop bought up a large stock of them for the Ruckus riders. I have done the same as you and switched to the Kenda's on my Grom. Awesome video about tires for the small bore bikes.

I’ve been running the kd1 for years on my Grom. In the dry I have no issues getting my knee down. 😊

Need new tires for my Monkey. I’ve never really had a problem with the stock tires. I ride mostly on the street. I was planning on getting Pirelli SL60’s, but it seems they have been discontinued. I agree that the 70 series tires just don’t look right on the Monkey. I can’t find any other 80 series tires, so I guess I’ll end up with a new set of VeeRubber. If anyone knows of any other stock size tires for the Monkey, I would appreciate it.

I’ve put a few hundred miles on them, very sticky for street tires, great value for the money. I ended up putting them in my YSR50 too.

I love the mitas race tiers the grip is unreal
