I absolutely love lactarius hygrophoroides- one of my absolute favorite edible mushrooms! glad you covered it! the lack of rain in Southern Ontario sure didn't bring up a many this year though. great job as usual!

I started seriously hunting for mushrooms in 2020, and we have been collecting lactarius thyinos a bit north of Cadillac for a few years now. They cook up quite nicely, especially with onion!
Spring of 2022 was tough with how cold it was almost through the end of May but fall this year was somehow worse; we didn't have moisture almost through the entire month of August and when the rains finally came at the beginning of September the temps fell to the low 40s the same week. The only thing we found in extreme abundance were Suillus granulatus and Suillus grevillei.
I have seen a few Shaggy manes, Rosy Russula, and a nice colony of Hemlock varnish shelf. Those were my favorites this year!
