Thank you.
I can't have flour, that's why I was watching this video, do you need the flour or can you use only the cattail?
@@crazyplantlady2403 just pollen will work . They won't rise as much
Do you let the fresh plant matter wilt a bit before adding oil? Just wondering about the water content from the plant matter. Thank you
@barblehmicke6097 Great question. Monarda isn't a plant heavy with moisture . I would allow something like touch me not ( Impatiens) wilt for 16 or more hours
Whats the one found near old growth hardwood at the end? Found a fresh one today I was going to keep an eye on and research.
@joshb.7905 the Wooly Chanterelle is not edible. Where are you in Michigan?
@FoundYouForaging the brown stumpy looking thing right? Oscoda/alcona county
@@FoundYouForaging I'm talking about the one at 13.45 james
@joshb.7905 ill watch and look at one you're talking about . Or you can send me a photo. 574 215 6197
ghost pipes are actually not a mushroom they are a flower that doesn't contain any chlorophyll
Epic species. I was wondering were you guys had been. Hope there’s more to come!
Good to see a new video n your ok..I'm gonna watch this later, I'm gonna head out n see if the chanterelles are up yet.
More to come . We've had tech issues . Hope you get into some clean fruitings
@@FoundYouForaging I've learned a lot from you n thnx
Does chicory root really have caffeine though? Or does it just taste similar to coffee
@@arielladooley5584 no caffeine
What about a road side?? My fiance has it and the city never cuts it. Since they don't spray it or cut it would it be safe?
@@totalglitch at least as safe as store bought veggies
thank you
1 tbsp of fresh herb to 1 1/2 cups of boiling water for 30 seconds then let sit for 5 mins then strain and drink with honey if wanted ( if using dried herb use 1/2 tbsp to the same amount of water enjoy
Nice video! I love picking trumpets. In WI the white oak are their favorite tree buddies. Moss and grassy areas..land yes in leaf litter too all near the trees. Just picked a bunch today…we have had a ton of rain here and they are a week early.
Would this grow well as a conpanion to raspberries/blackberries?
Yes but digging roots might harm raspberry
We can our Chanterelle mushrooms using a German Dr. Oetker recipe. The stock that is left over is absolutely amazing. Canning Chanterelles doesn't seem to be a North American thing. So happy my wife's father was a mushroom hunter and had this cookbook. This recipe looks great!!! I agree.... best mushroom soup ever!
This was cool, binged watched all 15, keep them coming, show some of the more comonly found edibles, i know those are boring, but they're interesting to me because I'm clueless.
If i could add anything to these videos would be a quick mention of possible lookalikes to avoid, unfortunately i know nothing about that, i do appreciate the time you put in documenting these finds
Pretty cool you document these finds
I grew up being told it was sassafras. Sarsaparilla is a thorny vine.
I just found this in my back woods with some blueberries
I planted some chicory seeds last year. This year I've got three 7 foot tall monster plants with lots and lots of flowers every day.
I like it's roasted root as a beverage
Why your video don’t take to see how you cook and to see what you do for the Cattails only see part of your self so we don’t know how you cook .
It's crazy; until recently, I had no idea cattails were editable, let alone the entire thing. I literally have a bunch of them that grow in my yard.
The fruit is edible. The seeds are supposedly toxic.
Is there a species with a red berry? I believe I got a big patch..
Berries are black . You might have bunch berry . Depending on where in the state you live
Red berries could be Aralia racemosa (American spikenard). Grows much bigger and has way more berries, but nudicaulis (wild sarsaparilla) gets a lot more positive reviews on the taste.
Does the barefoot ink cap have any benefits to the soil
It helps create soil yes
Excellent video Thank you!
Does barberry or goldenseal have more Berberine??
I'm not aware of any one who has made this comparison . From having harvested both and based on classification in taxonomy I have to assume Barberry wins . It's taxonomy links it to barberine . Great question . If I find any citations on the subject I'll pass it on
Michigan has awesome varieties. Also, don't bother making jerky from BSP, I have tried countless times in countless methods and it always came out like 💩
Thank you for the heads up with the jerky.
whats a fire trail? 3:02
Thanks for the info on how to identify. Going outside to check the leaves on tree. We get berries grouped just like the one you showed.
Excellent presentation
Just found your channel. Looking forward to watching and learning from your wisdom.
Good info
I just bought one today at a native plant sale. Didn't really know much about, but looked pretty. After watching this video I'm very happy I bought it.
Can I feed it to my snail?
Don't know
Mount Veiw Cemetary, They used to have these Trees were growing there when I was so young... There were a couple across the road going up the hill across the pond. His name was Bob Lot why don't people understand; put back what you take ??? The Birch Tree I'm never Gonna Rest & my Natives are Rolling in their Grave !!! 🤔
Thank You ! God Bless 😎🙂
"Hyacinth" is mildly toxic to humans. These are "grape hyacinth" or muscari, which are not true hyacinths, and which yield a forager's treasure. Please do not make these recipes using hyacinths, though!
got some in ohio. tasted great.
Are there tortoises in michigan?
Eastern box turtle are considered tortoise yes
I've had these things growing in my yard for several years and never knew what they were. Going to try these ideas out. Thanks!
Hello do you guys have to do like mushroom walks in Indiana I'm from Southern Indiana and there is no mushroom walks around me it would be really nice with someone with your knowledge to do and host mushroom walks
Join Indiana mushrooms on face book . At the top of their page they list several scheduled mushroom walks , foreys and mychoblitz to help with sequencing. Stephen Russel oversees a large portion of indianas Inat . I go to southern Indiana once a year at no scheduled date but enjoy Brown county and Yellowwood state parks . The next Dawn and I visit we will reach out and see if your schedule allows a nature hike
I’ve lived in da yoop for the last five years And just started getting Into foraging. I’m struggling to find Stands of ash and Elm. It seems like I’m just surrounded by coniferous trees, Any tips on how to find Good morel areas?
In Northern Michigan stands of aspen seem to produce well . Burn areas also produce the tear following the burn . The UP does have morels . I hope you find some this year . Don't forget Apple trees . Large mature Apple trees are great places to look .
Love the video! I'm just getting into foraging and this spring I have a huge patch of grape hyacinth near my apartment. I can't wait to try this!
Really enjoy watching your videos, very informative, a need to know in the times we are living in. Thank you so much for your effort and time. You seem to enjoy your craft, and that's always a good thing-❤😁🎯💯🔥☘️👍
Can the lemonade be saved for later?
It can be frozen yes
what a beautiful forest. Thank you so much. I enjoy your videos and hope to learn more about Michigan mushrooms.
