I'd seriously consider the cross rope if it weren't for my handicapped right hand. It has a very weak grip. I'd have to duct tape my hand to stay closed. Lol
Excellent video. My best and longest time friends all went through suffering together. I’m 79 now and I have a friend of 67 years that we were on our high school wrestling team together. My second longest term friend of 56 years we served in Vietnam together. Working together really forms a strong bond.
I started practicing jiu jitsu 10 years ago (American, not BJJ). I did it to improve my cardio and self defense skills, but it is a great community and most of my friends group is made up of people from the dojo. We go to lunch every week and have monthly guys’ night out. (There used to be Ladies’ Night too, before Covid destroyed the fitness part of the business.) Find an activity you are interested or enjoy, and find a community built around that activity.
@@TheEndIsCumingthe kids classes are probably over 100 total. The adults class is probably 30-40. It used to be a lot bigger before covid. The HIIT program had over 100 weekly students and it’s closed now, and the adult program probably had up to 70 active students. This is a self defense oriented school that doesn’t do BJJ so it draws a broader audience than just bros who want to roll. We do some grappling and judo, but that’s one part of what we do.
@@mw66683 That is so real, I've been dealing with that. it's crazy that grown men don't listen but just want to talk and a lot of people can't form a genuine conversation and friendship
There was a time that I never had an issue making friends easy for me to connect with people. Now it's become a arduous task, I'm doing more the calling and reaching out.
By far the best video you’ve made yet. My best friends in the world are the group of guys I went through medical school with. We set the goal of becoming physicians and we pulled each other across the finish line to graduate. That’s a lifelong bond.
Did you say Wausau, WI? I’m in New London, a bit west of Appleton. I’m a new subscriber to your channel but have found it fascinating as I foray into upgrading my wardrobe into a more mature persona. Please keep these videos coming!
My two closest friends are two guys I met back in 2004. We all worked at a Boy Scout camp together. They were co-best men at my wedding and they're essentially uncles to my kids. Couldn't ask for two greater guys. We still hang out regularly. Great video.
The big problem with current clubs and gatherings, people go there to moan and relax instead of achieving goals and suffering. That's pretty much a purpuse of their jobs
Greetings Gentleman. You my friend have a very interesting personality. The wisdom you are sharing with the world is monumental. Thank you. If you could please let your whole crew that you all are doing an Outstanding job.
I did a few months of Crossfit a year ago after having my brother help me to his fitness coach and made some connections with some people there. It feels nice getting to just casually talk to both men and women that I worked out with. But right now I am preparing my requirements in joining my Fire Department here in my country. May not be the military or the police, but it may lead me to the proper connections beyond those of my family and people from my childhood.
That's weird, not only did I just have memories of my boot camp exactly when this came across, parts of this are surprisingly similar. I quit as a student in order to join up with the green berets, but returned to college a few years later (as a completely different person). At some moments the worst time of my life by far, but in the end the best choice of my life by far. 😎👍
Last week through my work I attended a confrence I met and spoke to colleagues from differnt areas of the business, some of which worki at other offices across the country . I spoke to a senior colleague who was looking to seek people who would be on the reserve list for work that is more high profile than the work I currently do when opportunities arise . Also I spoke to members of staff based at the same office I work from that I had seen but never spoken to.
I wish people my age at uni were better at greeting each other and being more friendly to people they don't know. Having said that, this shouldn't stop me setting an example and putting in effort to get to know others :))
Working on projects together provides opportunity, true; but without aligned politics or religious faith, whatever friendship you're hoping to build can fall apart as fast as placing a yummy cake in water.
It's funny how all the branches feel the same way about the 2nd Lt. "butter bar". LOL Like the old joke, what's the difference between a 2nd Lt and a Private? The private has been in longer.
after you pass 40 good luck making friends , when all your 20is 30 is friends , have change city , got marred , work all day ,or some are to layzy to get just dress and go out , or you realize they are ass holes , you realize than be alone is better option ,

"find a group of people you align with and commit to work and suffer together to achieve a common goal" I know you're coming from a military background where you found a group of friends doing just this, but to be honest, I don't think you need to suffer together through something to find friendship.

I do Krav Maga and have a very strong partnership with someone I trained with since we were in karate 5 years ago
That’s awesome. So happy this has happened for you. I have run a JJJ for 30 and can attest that some of my best friend have been in the dojo.
Why not BJJ?
Damn, most of us would be lying if we said we didn't need this video. Making new friends is hard as an adult.
Especially here in Colorado!

I'm terrible at making friends.
Most men are, and we get worse at it as we age. Hence the value of videos like this.

Thank you for this, I always seem to be choosing the wrong friendships. But some of these tips I never tried, maybe next time will be different

Thinking of starting pair dancing. Naturally it is to meet women, but I think it is a good arena to get new friends as well.
