Wow! I love Jordan Peterson, has his 12 rules book and had noticed his custom suits before. But never knew the details of his suits. As a lover of custom suits myself, thank you, Antonio, for bringing this great story to light.
I used to work for the company who made the suits. Imperial jade means they crush the Jade precious stone, and the dust coming from it, it's mixed in the process together with the fabric. Making it extremely valuable and luxurious.
Designs are a bit wild, but he always advocates to dress well, he says it reflects on personality and on life, because putting care into dressing spills over and people unconsciously put more care and effort into other things in life as well. Anyway, as one of his 12 rules goes: never forget to pet a cat when you encounter one in the street. 😄🐱
Or a dog! I always keep treats in my pocket for the neighborhood dogs being walked by my house. They think I'm the bees' knees and automatically "sit" when they see me!
So did some research into the lining of JP's suit for rule #4: For anyone interested here's who those faces are: Top Left = Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Middle Left = Bottom Left = Karl Jung. Top Middle =Fyodor Dosteoevsky Mid-Bottom = Friedrich Nietzche Top Right = Jean William Fritz Piaget Mid Right = George Orwell Bottom Right = Eric Neumann No idea who the mid-left one is though? Basically it's a list of all the people Jordan looks up to, which is why its for rule #4 Compare Yourself to who you were yesterday, Not to who someone else today.
The two colour suit reminds me a little of Two-Face from Batman. I also own one Safari/Adventure style jacket that in made from linen. I did purchase the regular style peak lapel jacket that matches the pants. That jacket is Safari jacket is super versatile as I can get away wearing it with Jeans. I did just purchase the 12 Rules for Life book. Thanks for the suggestions and video Antonio
Rule #8: Why the embers? Jordan talks about how searching for and developing the true parts of yourself requires you to burn the dead wood from time to time. Otherwise you will be all dead wood and a fire (a crisis) will devastate you completely. So perhaps the small fire symbolises constant regeneration which is synonymous with practicing to always tell the truth. 15:36
Love it. As a dressmaker myself, a bespoke suit allows you to make clothes that are meaningful (think Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors). For years, I've overhauled wool coats (sometimes old enough to have been made in the USA) with beautiful new linings and interior detailing. Jordan's new wardrobe inspired me to take an 100% camel coat and restyle it on a "John the Baptist" theme, the bodice lining in a wilderness print, the sleeve linings and details in bronze satin.
Im pretty certain that the grid pattern on suit number 6 is meant to symbolize order, since its on a suit, it is the immeadiate surroundings that you set in order before you criticize the world
For what it's worth Jordan's wardrobe helps haters and curious folk keep chatting about him. Thus helping his advertising department rake in more online ad revenue
I only recognise a few faces on the inside of the jacket: Bottom row in the middle is Friedrich Nietzsche, on the left is Carl Gustav Jung and in middle row on the left with the glasses is Viktor Frankl.
THIS IS AMAIZING !!!!!!! I Love this. I Love JBP and all the thinks he teaches, I I Love your channel Antonio, This has been a treat for me. You should do a podcast episode with Jordan talking about the importance of dressing good.
I have to admit, I had my expectations outlined after the first jacket (which made me think of a Medieval Court Jester), and firmly set after the black suit (it looks to me more like a bastardization of Black Tie, because of the multiple buttons closing the single breasted jacket, and the vest cut far too high for evening wear), *however* I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the rest of these! I'd definitely go for more conservative linings, but I really like the basic colors, fabrics, and cuts of these garments!
I like JP and listen to his videos a lot. Great video Antonio, and I admit, I never thought anything about his suits except they are 'out there'. Now, I know what they are about!
Definitely an interesting video on his suits and jackets. Much appreciated. Peterson flourishes by saying things that sound very profound to the uninformed.
Yes, I saw him in one of his own videos I believe, where he explained that the suit company approached him. They asked him if he’d be interested in some suits, he said sure why not and the company designed them for him. This is my understanding.
8:02 Concerning the lining of suit #4: I don't know whether somebody in the comments has already identified the faces, but i thought i'd just list them for those who would like to know. Top: Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn - Fyodor Dostoevsky - Jean Piaget Middle: Viktor Frankl - George Orwell Bottom: Carl Jung - Friedrich Nietzsche - Erich Neumann
WOW I always thought that some of the fashion was cringe but I didn't know it was off from a Book he made, and the suit and book gives so much meaning. Incredible work you did here Antonio. I think it one of you're best one, and I got to say out of all my favorite I think the last one was the best looking one. I love anything with Seersucker, especially living in South Florida, Seersuckers are simply the best!
Jordan Peterson's suits are Brilliant. He was made to wear those suits. He is tall, slim, good looking, and the suits are well tailored, interesting, but they do not overpower his presence. They make him even more interesting. Pleasant to watch.
I actually really like safari jackets. They're great to wear in warmer weather, especially in the more lightweight fabrics like linen and seersucker. I think it can bring a really cool militaristic element to your wardrobe, and if anyone can pull off the safari jacket, I think it's Jordan!
The fact that several people looked and said "I have an idea for a new fabric!" Shocks me. Then to have someone look at it and say "lets make a suit out of that!"
These suits are Beautiful . They are works of art that tell a story. The fabric reflects what the suit stands for. Excellent video. I never thought that Men's fashion could be so interesting.
Hi Antonio, thanks for this video! I really like those "crazy" personalized linings in P. Jordan's suits 😄 I'd love to get some lining of this kind for a bespoke suit. Checked online, but it is surprisingly hard to find places offering these, i.e. print customized linings. Since you are well connected, would you have any suggestion where to go? Much appreciated! Best Regards eddie
Good afternoon Mr. RMRS. I am wondering if you wiling to do a review on x-suit. I travel for work quite often. I would love your opinion on this due to you being well versed in this subject. Many thanks
i would LOVE to start wearing suits, but i am not in that income bracket. i also get hot and sweat easier than anyone else i have ever met, and i am not a heavy guy i am a quite tall and quite thin guy. which al also an issue because nothing actually looks particularly good on me because i have weird lanky proportions.
