CGI that really holds up even 30 years later.

That is all practical. Check Babylon 5 for CGI at that time.

@@SilverlightliveActually, the battle itself is all CGI.
      Same with the wormhole.

In Star Trek Online, it turns out that the Dominion fleet wasn't destroyed, or didn't simply vanish. The Prophets caused the fleet to emerge from the wormhole about 35 years in the future.

And what's a crying shame is that they didn't make a TFO that would have a team of 2409-vintage ships take on that entire fleet.

That's gotta be a kick in the ass for the fleet, emerging from the wormhole to find their entire command structure gone from the alpha quadrant, their enemies far stronger and smarter than they were when you last encountered them, and zero reinforcements coming to help.

I really like that this show didn't abuse it. It can only be used ONCE. This is only show I know of that got away with using it twice.

And it did have consequences for Sisko.
He wasn't allowed to be with Kasidy after the war.
At least this is how I interpret the statement that the Sisko won't find any rest on Bajor.
And I interpret Sisko's pagh following another path as foreshadowing his decision to fight at Chin'Toka any marrying Kasidy against the prophets' warnings.
I guess the writers didn't have it in mind when writing SoA but this is my personal interpretation of all of this.

I always found it odd how readily Weyoun and the Founder accepted the "disappearance" of their ships.
Wouldn't they want to know how Sisko managed to pull it off, to avoid it in the future?

    • @TheBigExclusive

At the time the Dominion were winning the war greatly, and fully expected to replace those ships easily.
The entire Dominion in the Gamma Quadrant was building ships at a massive rate. They were in a war economy and war production. Even losing this fleet didn't mean much. They could probably remake that fleet in a week (remember the Dominion was sending large fleets through the wormhole every week before Sisko mined the Wormhole).
The Founder thought that they could still win this war even without reinforcements - even if it took a bit longer. And she was right. The Dominion came extremely close to winning. If not for a few things going wrong, the Dominion probably would have still won.
She was Immortal. No need to rush the war.
But Only when the Founder became sick did she turn very bitter, and her decision making became questionable. She used to believe since she was Immortal that she had all the time in the world to win the war. But then she got sick. So she wanted to win the war before dying and pushed her subordinates way too hard and alienated the Cardassians into wanting to quit the Dominion. Before she got sick, she was willing to take the war slow and grind down her enemies. Using her Changeling spies and agents to sabotage the alliance. It was the sickness that really affected the Founder's mental health.
Plus. I think the Founder didn't want to get involved or acknowledge the idea of the Bajoran "gods". She had a superiority complex and it would be admitting to her troops that other gods existed. She didn't want to contaminate the Dominion with such thinking. Only the Founders were gods and no one else was acceptable.
So she probably told herself they were lost in some freak accident, wrote off the fleet in her head, and moved on

      @dhinton1 2 месяца назад +1

The Founders NEVER viewed ANY solid as an equal .... so "alienating" the Cardassians was never their concern. The Cardassians, as far as they were concerned, were fodder for the conquest of the entire Alpha Quadrant. The Federation and the Klingons were the only ones that actually "stood up" to the Dominion the whole time (remember the Romulans signed a NAP with the Dominion, which Benjamin Sisko and Garak lied to get the Romulans to abandon it ... one of the only ways that the Dominion didn't trounce the quadrant anyway).
other than that ... this comment is virtually flawless.

They did it with TNG and it cost too much so I don’t think they will do it with DS9 or Voyager. Which sucks because it would be cool to see those two shows in high definition
