Poem dedicated to Grandfather. Written by Jacob 21. Sept, 2019 in Latvia.
This is the last part of short documentary series about Grandfather. The movie uncovers one day in his life that has been shown in 10 minutes. It talks about his daily routine and dedication to his down to earth lifestyle his fathers lived. His passion and love is horses. He is an old and experienced horse logger and is doing all the farm work all year round using only horse power. He is a hard worker and fully self-sufficient and independent. He has been living off the grid, before there even was a grid.

We all forgot how to live simple and meaningful life.
Not really, because it's not really that simple is it? Going and buying what you want from the supermarket is simple, which is why this sort of video will get a thousand people praising this way of life and it's lost idyllic romanticism who will then immediately return to their modern, bustling lives without incorporating a thing. This old grandfather is a champion and an inspiration, but it's a hard life, and people living in the past never shape the future.
You must be scared of old people, because hey make you work until you die.

I would love to be able to afford a plot of land i can live like this. Im glad my grandfather left me with the skills and knowledge how to care for and live off the land
There is so much knowledge, wisdom and skill with what he does, I implore you not to end this video journey here. Not only to preserve the ways of his (and your forebears), but to those generations of struggle ahead where your children and their children's children could learn to sustain themselves and their families living like this.

This is something i am trying to focus on. I am learning the craft of forging and woodworks, i try to take care of our farm and nature, i learn more and more from my father, my grandfathers, mother and grandmothers, they are all so full of skills and much to bring with in the future. I try but its not allways easy. I am deeply addicted by screens but i try, i work to get away from screens which is the biggest addiction of our generation.

@@dakotac9547 don't be fooled by these people. They usually look down to earth & given his type of work & age, probably is a very humble man. Why i say don't be fooled is because i am a banker, & these are the type of folks that come into the bank looking all raggy & depositing some ridiculous sums of $$. The balances on their A/C's always leave me in awe.

Yes, we have big machineries in countryside, too. But her grandfather is retired and have choose to live own kind of life. He lives and work like her parents have lived.

In New Zealand, my ancestors did this except they did it with big families and taught the children too. This is amazing but seems very lonely.

These videos remember me about my grandfathers...they lived a life just as the man in this video.
When I was a kid and I go to them I didn’t understood the connection with the Earth, but now as an adult I miss those days.

That’s the same way we used to plow up taters when I was a boy but we was barefoot 🦶🏽. We even stored them in our corn crib just like that. Nothing like the smell and feel of fresh plowed dirt.

You can tell about this grandfather life just to look his hands... This is hard work and not a simple life... Maybe some rich people kids need one week work like that to understand how hard life can be in the spring, summer and autumn if they want to eat in the winter...

I just stumbled upon this Grandfather series... And it never hurt me more like today. I just lost my grandfather a week ago and all the similarities in this videos just make me cry. He was also living to work and i just remembered all the things we did together... i miss him :(

Thanks to you and your grandfather for allowing you to film. He probably thinks it's just life though. This series brings back so many memories of when I was a child on the farm with my own grandfather plowing with the horses, all of the work by us in our family garden, etc. I'm so grateful to have lived this way until I left home. Wszystko tak bliskie memu sercu, i niestety w czasie przeszłym. Sceny i widoki zapamiętane z dalekiego dzieciństwa... a jakie owoce i warzywa - wszystko takie urodzajne, prawdziwe, naturalne jak bywało kiedyś. Szacunek człowiekowi pracy.

This man lives a very simple and full life without all of today's electronics and problems that they create. Many of us and our children and grandchildren could learn a lot from him. I hope he goes on forever but I know he won't but at least some one to carry on these old tried and true traditions and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. I hope this is not the last in this series but if it is it has been great.

God, i can remember digging potatoes with a potato fork, lots of work for a kid, my dad always planted too many, and, my sister and i had to dig them in the fall.
