    THE MOST ACCURATE video yet regarding Panama. GREAT JOB! I have watched many videos and I often wonder if what is being explained is really their reality, or just "great content." You hit all 23 reasons on the nail. I wished there were more videos like this prior to my family and I getting our residencies in Panama. Panama can me a great place to live, but you definitely have to pack your patience with many of your 23 reasons. Just found your channel. LOVE it!

      I totally understand and it’s no way to know everything about a place before you come but just know that things will probably not be what you are used too, and also remember you are not a tree and you can relocate if the place is not working out for you. Wishing you and your family the best and thanks for watching!

    Hi, Mary, you may want to update the video to include these issues, if applicable to Panama: U can not flush toilet paper down the toilet. That's huge for us coming from the US. I first experienced this in Costa Rica. I also didn’t have a "hot" or even "warm" shower the entire month I was there, Lastly, my clothes had to be line dried. They didn't use clothes dryers. My underwear was hard and crunchy when initially putting them on. That was an experience. Thx.

    • @broady2
      @broady2 Месяц назад +3

      Thanks for the additional points. I can adjust to many, many changes, but not being able to flush tissue down the toilet is NOT one of them. Where the heck are you putting the ‘soiled’ 🤢tissue? This is a hygiene issue for me. But that’s just me….

    • @CharlieBrown0507
      @CharlieBrown0507 Месяц назад

      Not true at all. Maybe in apartment buildings. In Long Island, NY, you cannot flush the toilet down the toilet even in your own house. You can, but you will have to replace the cesspool more often. In Long Island there is not sewage processing plant so you have to have a cesspool in the ground somewhere in your property.
      We now moved to SC where we do have a sewage plant but guess what? the price for water is "a lot" higher.

    • @CharlieBrown0507
      @CharlieBrown0507 Месяц назад +1

      @@firewine It depends on where you live. I am Panamanian now living in the US. We never had/have a trash bin in the bathroom in Panama. Ever.
      Because there is city sewage. Same as in the US. But again, it depends on where you live. When we were looking for a house in SC. We passed on all the ones that had Septic Tanks. In SC most houses have septic tanks, in NY they have cesspools. Look up the difference on what they do but same concept. Depends on the type of soil. Clay (sc) vs sandy (Long Island, NY).

    • @Marysseasonedexpatlife
      @Marysseasonedexpatlife  Месяц назад +1

      thanks for watching, I have not experienced any of these things in the city, but maybe if you go to a rural area with a public toilet, you may not be able to flush the tissue, but not everyday life here in Panama

      I’m glad you said that. I was there about two weeks ago. If it wasn’t for my son being with me I would not have survived. My Spanish was not sufficient but my son’s was adequate enough. Fumbling around with the language app was not convenient. The traffic and the way people drive there kept me in a panic. Beautiful country though.

    When you get down to the brass tacks like you've put it, it is for sure worthwhile to think long and hard about the polar opposite lifestyle, particularly compared to SOME USA standards. Like everyone says, come visit a while before jumping into a relocation, but then there's those recurring thoughts of discounts & special consideration for Jubilados. Who can resist? Most expats on the channel have the same opinions as you, then you've got others selling the hell out of Panama like they getting paid, I'm feeling a twinge of damned if you do or damned if you don't. Almost comical.

    • @Marysseasonedexpatlife
      @Marysseasonedexpatlife  9 дней назад

      That’s why you gotta come see for yourself, some folks love it and others don’t, you definitely shouldn’t move abroad expecting USA standards that’s just setting yourself up to be disappointed. I get it I totally understand your point!

    Mary, I just saw a video with u and two other expat ladies where you mention racism. I've researched Panama for months and am in several Panama expat groups, and racism was never mentioned. I'll be there in a couple of weeks and will see what it's all about. I guess u need to add racism to the list of cons.

      In Panamá we have a large amount of black population in Colón, Atlantic side. That has nevera been an issue for us. They are citizens with all rights... In US they can be beaten and killed just for passing a red light. But if you choose there, then easy... just stay in your country and believe me no one is going to miss you here. PEACE❤

    • @guillermogouldburn763
      @guillermogouldburn763 Месяц назад +3

      @reneesanchezmiranda8588 I believe the lady in that video was talking about the neighbors in her luxury building in an exclusive neighborhood. Many of them may not even be Panamanians. The other ladies said they never experienced anything remotely similar to the racism in the States. Anyway, she was basing her observations on assumptions, rather than facts. No one has called her any slurs or denied her right to live wherever she feels like. It's a trauma some people have and it's very sad, but understandable, given the state of race relations where they come from.

    • @reneesanchezmiranda8588

      @@guillermogouldburn763 Got it! Too sad. We have an entire Province, COLON, which is full of black people whose ancestors came from the Caribbean Islands to built the Panama Canal. So, how can we be racist if they put their own blood to be part of our country. Welcome to all visitors and retirees.
