Fabulous. One revelation after another, ceilings to walls to windows to floors. There will be a rush for "old glass", employing the "reverse" pattern of upholstery and curtain fabric, toile "faux silk", sewing together the border fabric, etc. What a great interview. Mr. Stein's attention to detail is so inspiring and humbling. The eye of an artist combined with the training of a scientist. I am so taken with the colors. Thank you, Stephanie. A visit to La Mirande is now on the post-Covid dream list.

This was MAGNIFICENT! Beyond opulent, rich, and beautiful- yet refined. Not gaudy whatsoever. I can imagine myself ordering at the bar, maybe a gin and tonic, and sitting in the alcove looking out to the historic buildings or into the courtyard. The corridors themselves make me want to pull up a table and have biscotti and espresso or affogato within them. This is one for the memory bank, Stephanie! I hope to visit here someday. The blown glass used throughout is another detail that takes the mind to another place in another time, or dimension.

The painting you admired at the 21 minute mark was something that caught my eye, also. I think the placement on that wall is what is really striking. It's a window wall and there is a window in the painting, but it's almost like you're looking into the next room--a hidden room--where she's sitting by the window. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it well, but it really is intriguing.

The antique, hand carved paneling, of the highest quality, was a work of art, to be being installed in someone's offices, or a residence, I forget which, but the fact is that it was "saved" gave me a great feeling. Another set of paneling has been saved and moved to it's third installation. The buildings may fall, but the paneling lives on.

STUNNING! Interesting concepts, techniques, vision demonstrated. Stephanie's home has similar vision and attention to detail. It is obvious when I see other updated château that end up looking like "vanilla" magnolia pallete.
    Thank you.
My old bedroom in a 120 year old home had huge cabbage head roses. It was a pleasure to wake in that room.

Dear Stephanie, I would like to request a vlog. Could you please at a later time do a tour of Fountain Bleau? I would love to to see the interiors of that palace and with your knowledge you could tell us the history and show us the textiles. I know the Kings of France and the Napoleons lived there and I've seen bits and pieces, but it's not enough for this lover of French design. Think about it, maybe? Loved today's video.

I love the simple mirrors in the baths adhered by simple brackets. It’s how my mother hung mirrors. Also love the ceiling decor and original floors. I always thought old wavy glass was damaged but now I see it differently.

Yes it is very expensive but the French patrimony is honored by this restoration.
Stephanie do a great job in her Château de Lalande. I hope she will be rewarded by a Legion d'honneur medal. It is the minimum France could to a person who save a part of the French history like Stephanie in Lalande

Thank you Stephanie, La Mirande is indeed beautiful beyond words, a very special hotel. I have used a few of the design ideas myself, framing the walls with a border that matches the walls - not my idea, straight from the wallpaper book - it was midnight blue with tiny pink and blue flowers, it looked wonderful and made what was a small room look much larger. The hotel also has the most beautiful floors, the timber design is my dream floor, reminds me of a beautiful restaurant in New York.. The Box Tree... sadly now gone. I'm so glad this has given you new ideas for Lalande. 🏰🦘
