Great question, Desmond! I cover a few boxing maneuvers to get on the inside, exclusively on fighttips (only requires and email to get access): www.fighttips.com/10-ways-to-close-off-the-distance-get-inside-range/
first of all heartiest congratulation for 1M SUBSCRIBERS! brother. You proved that a passion could be taken to the next level. There is No doubt! that other channels are jealous about you.I always feel positive on your channel & I wish you all the best brother.
Man ur fantastic, your so good with talking, explaining things good i fight my self and i took a lot of your advices in situations, And you know a lot m8! Greetings from the Netherlands BIG FAN HERE FOR YEARS.
Hey great video. I love your content. I've got a question though. For me personally most of the people I spar against or fight are usually shorter than me. A friend of mine uses a Mayweather stance (couldn't remember the actual name for it) and tends to throw out a lot of low leg kicks. When I try to come in to land a few punches he'll hit me with a leg check almost every time. After a good while it wears down my leg and I switch stances. Is there any way to avoid that defensive leg kick when you're trying to go in or should I try to bait it and counter it.
fightTIPS Shane I'm literally in love with you(no homo), you're so awesome and you reply to so many of us. your videos not only help me feel safe and comfortable when in public and keep me active shadow boxing every night BUT they also make my day(: awesome shittt bro!
Bretzlaf as in Bretslev/Breslov/Bretslov/Bretzlever??? If so, F***ing wow!!!! None the less, I'm 5'11" 195lbs (mostly fat). I usually train with my nephew, NAVY E7 ChralieBetaPeru, MCMAP (EMOS) 6'4" 225 1.5% body fat. So, now that I've typed 145M characters....I feel ya, and I'm not all that small!!!
Man Shane thanks, Im a boxer for Sugar Ray Leonard in Landover, MD. Im 15 and weigh at about 120 so I had to spar another guy from another gym maybe around 15-16 but he was about 6'1-6'2 and Im 5'5" and a half so I noticed he threw alot of 1-2's and had to slip my way inside to get a nice left uppercut to the body or set that up with feints , even sacrificing taking shots just to get inside , It payed off though but this really helps.
Shane can you do a video on fighting someone with better stamina than your self. there is a muay thai tournament in 2 weeks and Im in pretty bad shape because I have been sick and have not been able to train. but I still want to fight because I really want to win this tournament thanks.
Could you do a video on inside leg kicks? I feel that they're very underrated and are extremely effective. Maybe a video on inside leg kicks vs outside.
QUESTION: What are your philosophies on timing when to throw combos in muay thai? In other words; are there certain triggers that you look for that signal when to throw combos? I understand the concept of creating rhythms and then breaking them, but what tells you "go now?"
what if you're fighting someone using footwork who keeps avoiding backward or whatever when you go to throw punches? how are you gonna shoot in on someone who evades backwards?
I know it's dumb , but I'm a at home trained "mma fighter" wish I can get actual gym training , but wanted to ask where to get mats like that for the floors , want to further my BJJ and spar with friends
Hey Shane I was looking to buy your hybrid white sweet science boxing 16 oz sparring gloves but they are currently sold out. Do you know when you will re stock them?
+fightTIPS Hey, Shane can you please make video on what Ufc Champ Tyron Woodley, could've done to land more shots on Stephen Thompson at UFC 209. Conversely, what Thompson could have done as well. Btw great video!
why don't you do a video. ways to fight a shorter opponent that gets inside to much. I practice Mma and I'm more of a striker, little dudes be taking down really fast.
if you ask me... getting in close can be dangerous as well... i sparred against short people and when they close in i just grab them and knee them in the face. just my personal experience.
great tips Shane! in a real fight I'd be reluctant to go for a takedown. But the other tips look very practical. A few months ago I went to a trial wing chun class and we learnt this self defence move where you counter a punch. The instructor said most attacks would be a punch as most martial artists don't go round attacking people. But this just made think how naiive she is and probably never been in a fight.
The third one would become very difficult to do if your opponent was throwing traditional Muay Thai leg kicks, ie leg chopping downwards diagonally. If you put all your weight down on your lead leg and someone catches you with one of those it'll hit the muscle a little higher than normal but it's still cutting in to the leg and could be potentially devastating.
no disrespect, ive learned at a lot from you about the kicks. But i saw a lot of gaps in your boxing. Keep do what you do, you are very good with the legs.
Shane First off, you're f***ing amazing! I wish I could pick your brain. I know you have too many subscribers to reply to people personally, but damn I'd do just about anything to correspond with you just one time. Secondly, I'm not sure I understand the point. Example - a video regarding mma followed by one about street fighting: a bjj vid followed by one about how to fight an aggressive fighter in the street. This I find difficult to correlate. I don't want to grapple on the ground outside of a bar while my opponent's buddies kick me in the head, just like I wouldn't want to put on gloves and pads, get in to an octagon with a referee and clock, and try to bust out some Wing Chun. Enlighten me. Are the videos suppose to be cohesive? Thank you. The talent with which you've been blessed...wow!
Thank you Jeremiah! Not all of the videos build off of each other, however they are all packed with useful info on an individual level. No, you don't want to go to the ground in a bar fight, but if it happens you want to know how to submit/sweep someone. Just giving you all options, and different techniques to train :)
fightTIPS Dude! Thanks for responding. Made my week. Right after I posted my comment, I thought to myself "fightTIPS...hmmm... not STREET Fight Tips, or MMA fightTIPS...fightTIPS Dummy!". Thanks again. I'm stoked! Please, please keep em comin! Sincerely, Jeremiah
Brother as we all know multiple opponents! could be the worst case for anyone.Right,,What i found out that "NANCHAKU" works well if you are surrounded by minimum 8 guys .I used that against some hooligans & atleast got myself out of that voilent situation but only thing is, i dont know much about using that. You can keep that in your bag as a concealed weapon. What i want is you ,too make a video on how to use NANCHAKU find some expert...why? because there are plenty of idiots on youtube...& i trust you thats why! i am here... bro.
+fightTIPS it could definetly work i meant i wouldn't use it. they seem to risky to me but it could work it all comes down to training. i would try them sparring or in a ring
Can you do a vid on closing distance with only boxing against a taller foe? What would Tyson do against DeonTay Wilder?
Desmond Bailey bite his ear

Travis Nielson Right!?!?
Shane, you're the best
On the second technique, I like to do a heel sweep right as I throw that straight.
Thanks for the video. As a shorter person always sparring taller guys this helps a lot. Would love more.
Bretzlaf as in Bretslev/Breslov/Bretslov/Bretzlever??? If so, F***ing wow!!!! None the less, I'm 5'11" 195lbs (mostly fat). Shifting works wonders allowing you to chase down opponents keeping balance and power. Its common in Karate but rarely used in boxing.
thanks for this video! I often spar with taller friend and I had problems with closing range, I'll definitely try this:)
Man Shane thanks, Im a boxer for Sugar Ray Leonard in Landover, MD. Double/Single leg vs Trips/clinch takedowns, what is better and why?
Everything is good. If you are good in Double and Single leg, try to improve your cinch takedowns.
Hey Shane I was looking to buy your hybrid white sweet science boxing 16 oz sparring gloves but they are currently sold out. Do you know when you will re stock them?
awsome videos 👌
yo shane can u recomend a good youtube playlist to learn boxing? im completely new and i really wanna start learning it.
JT Van V

+fightTIPS Hey, Shane can you please make video on what Ufc Champ Tyron Woodley, could've done to land more shots on Stephen Thompson at UFC 209. Conversely, what Thompson could have done as well. Btw great video!
It's funny how I was just thinking about Shane need to make a video bout closing off the distance today to😭
why don't you do a video. ways to fight a shorter opponent that gets inside to much. I practice Mma and I'm more of a striker, little dudes be taking down really fast.
what about a how a tall fighter can fight a short fighter ?
JAB! But seriously, this is a great video suggestion ;)
I like to grab the leg and throw a high kick on the opposite side
if you ask me... getting in close can be dangerous as well... i sparred against short people and when they close in i just grab them and knee them in the face. just my personal experience.
Why you givin tips for short guys but not for tall guys we losing advantage here
We need moar.
You shoot with your rear leg?
great tips Shane! in a real fight I'd be reluctant to go for a takedown. But the other tips look very practical. A few months ago I went to a trial wing chun class and we learnt this self defence move where you counter a punch.

You got it; hope it helps!

i weight 135lbs & im cutting to 125lbs. is that a safe weight cut ?
Jaythekid
125 damn what weight class is that. I am in the cruiserweight division
That jab cross, since you are shorter than him, as soon as you get within his kicking range you are done.
How you fight shorter people
00:23 what a great way to get countered by a good boxer 😂
Good tip thanks but the taller opponent hits me with his punches! Guess I'm just to Slow :(
What about boxing? i'm pretty muscular 5'8 so my opponents are usually taller than me. (I'm 145lbs)
How To Hit Your Opponent Back With any Strike
how to fight someone with very fast punches
how to fight ur bro who doesn't know how to fight, becoz he keeps throwing punch randomly like a machine gun and force u to the corner
in the closing they looked baked
I know damn well that Shane looks just like Dylan of the Bates motel show
Where is Hunt? And what to do with shorter opponent? Why all these videos for "shorter", "smaller" etc?
but what if they use the second one against u when u try the third?!?!?!?!?!
That's why fighting is so interesting!
Shane, can you do one on how to fight a fat guy? Those guys are hard to fight cuz they got so much body protection lol
Dayum
Where's ant :(

Growing like crazy!
no disrespect, ive learned at a lot from you about the kicks. But i saw a lot of gaps in your boxing.

If Shane is 5'2, that means this guy is maybe 5'5. That's barely a tall opponent!
I want to be trained by you in real life
and he's big size
it went by to fast I feel like you should've went over them a little more
Be sure to check out the more in-depth version here: www.fighttips.com/10-ways-to-close-off-the-distance-get-inside-range/

he's like an inch taller than you....
An inch taller than shane? that must be one big ass inch lol
Still need to beat him up.
In the first position ideal way to a cracked knee in my face :\
Make those punches count! Get them heavy on their heels.
does beard protect your chin??
Nice moves but that big guy ''probably'' can kill you in a real fight, fuck size matters.
what about tall lanky guys? Guys that can be leaning all the way back and box.
Josiah Patterson body shots, faint to the head and smack the body then just demolish the body on the inside
are you belive you have a chance versus a sayajin male ,and without all those boring rules ! weird humans
U don't but your knee down for mma
Not for the street
Ever? Please explain.
+fightTIPS it could definetly work i meant i wouldn't use it. they seem to risky to me but it could work it all comes down to training. i would try them sparring or in a ring
