ShiftLeaf Temple and Forsaken City are probably my favourite platformer levels ever i love the style of "here's a mechanic, here's what you can do with it, here's a complicated room based around it, enjoy" edit: i hadn't beaten Flipswap Factory yet when writing this, but it is also a banger yes
Beat it the day it got rated. Was incredibly fun, and you did a great job at working with the left/right concept. Took me some time to figure out but was great after that.
This is extremely well taught. As soon as I hopped in I knew what I was doing on the first jump. You're seriously talented, and this level is definitely one of the best platformer demons right now. Congrats on the feature!
i am going to say this loud and proud: this was the first platformer demon level i completed. it took around a good 30~40 minutes to figure things out and speed-running this level was extremely fun. the decoration was fantastic and it honestly was a breath of fresh air. keep up the good work, tride :)
There's a youtube channel called Game Makers Toolkit, and the person running it is currently making their own puzzle game. In one of his videos, he described that a good approach to making a puzzle game/level, is to look at all the mechanics you can use, and figure out how to combine 2, maybe 3, concepts that were introduced earlier to make one puzzle. You made use of the left/right looking mechanic and dash orbs, and did so brilliantly tbh. The dash orb is pretty self explanatory, and how it can be combined with the left/right looking was explored nicely, although there's always room for more, such as by taking the dash orb displacement as a single mechanic and adding something else (that the player would likely know of) to it later on. From my experience, the best puzzles are the ones that seem easy at first, but have 1 or 2 catches that make it more complicated (in the last room, that'd be flying out the level with the dash orb displacement), so your clear path with a complication analogy works really well. Can't wait to see more :D
This level is sick tride i really enjoyed playing it and i also appreciate the fact you showed how to do it so we can repilicate it and make our own levels. Good work Tride!
you did a fantastic job w the puzzle elements! id love to see it developped further and i agree that the level feels short, but other than that what you do have there is flawless! looking forward to playing more of your levels
I LOVED THIS LEVEL, glad to see the creative thought process. I even put it into my Platformer highlights list "The Great Platforming"! I thought it was well paced and amazingly designed. It didn't overstay its welcome, but certainly left me wanting more. I hope to cover platformer designing some point in the future, and this level is most certainly going to be a prime example!
For the last puzzle where you had to tell the player to use the dash orb, you could have instead introduced a barrier earlier that could only be broken using a dash orb and put it there in the last level. You could hide the barrier from the camera and only pan to it if the player reaches that area without the dash orb.
I've played many puzzle games, and I am a puzzle game fan, but when playing this level, I did everything as normal, and I quite enjoyed it! But when i got to the final dash orb, i had absolutly no idea what to do, and after like 20 minutes i just looked it up, and i think thats because you didn't introduce the mechanic of doing that before, and when i saw how to do it from the video, i felt cheated, i didn't think, "Ooooooooooh, that makes sense!" I more felt like, "Bruh that's annoying, whatever." If anyone disagrees and thinks im stupid, tell me in the replies, thats just how i felt about the level.
As a huge puzzle game fan, when I played your level, I felt as though the difficulty was inconsistent. The first room is awesome, but as you said the first jump in the second was weird to get my head around… Then the dash orb section was a lot easier, but really cool. Finally, that last section was, definitely something. I felt very lost, and even after beating it, I don’t think I did it right. I guess what I’m trying to say is that is was an awesome level, but could have used a few tweaks to make it amazing. Maybe if the second room was nerfed and there was a room between the dash orbs and the last room. Idk, great video though.
@@Billi84-MaBoi ok, first of all, say "edit" in your comment, not in your reply. 2nd, everybody says "edit" when they get likes (don't do that, that's dumb). If you need to fix a typo, just fix it, nobody cares about it
I don't know if Tride will see this, but just in case I my experience adds something. So, I went to play the level before I continued the video, and it was incredible. I do think it could have had one more room, but also as you said it felt cool enough that it's a good thing to want more. Also, you predicted correctly that the last room feels overwhelming at first, but it didn't get to the point of really being annoying before I was able to think of what I needed to do, and when I figured that last dash orb shift, I did feel great. It is an incredible puzzle design in my opinion, and I would love to see what else you might be able to come up with in future levels.
I loved trying to beat this level. I haven't beaten it, mainly because the last room is too hard for me (skill issue). Great job with the level though! On another note, I recently discovered a level called flipswap factory, which I think you should try to beat (or even make a video on). I got up to room 10 before it got to confusing for me, but I think you could do it. Just a suggestion though.
Yeah that level is quite similar to shiftleaf and works really well! I love how you can accidentally stumble into the flinging before it is fully introduced!
@@Billi84-MaBoi tbh I found that out in the first room bc there was a suspicious ledge just sitting in the top left corner that you couldn't reach otherwise. I was kinda hoping for a coin tbh

I'm a puzzle gamer and in my opinion these puzzle rooms are perfect. It would be even nicer to add 1-2 more rooms. Although, I really enjoyed playing this level
This was my first demon platformer I think the mechanic at first is hard to get used to, but once you get it down it is a really fun level even for a mobile player good work Tride!
This was my first platformer demon and I really enjoyed playing it for the first time and spending time working out the solution path for each puzzle room, and I’ve only just now realised you’re the one who made it!!! Thank you so much - it’s definitely my favourite platformer level I’ve played yet
For me it was the exact opposite. The short length is the main reason why I DID like this level. I have played a 7 moons that took me 1 hour and 51 minutes: please don't do that, it is so bad. Not knowing when something is going to end and can't exiting the level without losing your checkpoints can become extremely frustrating. Fun mechanic, well introducted (I played the level before watching the video), cool design. Good stuff Tride
after i beat this level for the first time i thought to myself “damn that was a good level” and i went to see who made it, i didn’t look at the name before clicking and i saw your icons and i yelped irl
I’ve had tons of platformers that tell me what to do or how to do it, it doesn’t really feel fun because you don’t get to find out along the way, but in the case of this level it does exactly what I would want and I like that you intended that while creating
I beat It today together with Forsaken City (2 levels I saw a lot of people recommend), but I didn't look at the creator so I didn't knew It was you. Amazing level and an amazing mechanic
this is really well done for your first platformer, i remember playing this when it came out (didnt actually know it was made by u huge w) and was so intrigued by how the blocks worked and it was really fun. it made me feel hella smart when i figured out what to do for the last dash orb this level is layed out so well to get the player to improve at and enjoy the mechanic
ShiftLeaf Temple is an amazing puzzle level but in my opinion, it just feels like the whole level is a tutorial and it ends before it really begins you introduce the elements flawlessly but just don't use them enough otherwise I'm really looking forward to your upcoming puzzle levels as a big fan of puzzle games like portal and Zelda. Keep up the great work love seeing actual game design in this game :)
The first door can be used to skip the first right section. You just take it, and then you take it again you'll notice it launches you, enough to touch the green orb. And for the second section of the dash orb's inctoduction, you can skip the hardwork by cliking it without jumping.
hope to see more platformers from you, i loved this one! and dont be afraid to go harder on the puzzles, im down to sit there with no idea of what to do next for 10+ minutes as long as its for a demon level
That’s a really good level like can’t figure out how to use all of this 2.2 blocks and triggers yet so good job on doing that you’re a really good creator so keep it!😁
I found a skip in the second room: After the checkpoint, walk off the platform then jump using the new coyote time, but as soon as you jump move backwards. You end up on top of the shiftleaf block right above the blue orb. After this, you can hit the blue orb and continue with the rest of the room as normal. Nice little trick to save a little time.
I absolutely loved playing this level. But it genuinely felt too short. Can't wait to see what you cook next. This level was very intuitive and creative. Keep it up 🔥
