Can you do a video on a Mercedes E-park brake? I took one apart this past weekend (2021 C-class) and it has small springs and tiny ball bearings inside the piston. I put back together the best I could and it cycled in and out but not completely sure I assembled it correctly. Thanks

I have a question, can i put the fully retracted side in no problem, or would I have to bring it upto the brake pad and rotor because one side would be extended and the other retracted? I also got a brake malfunction message, is this because the fluid had ran low?

Do you need to do this for both sides if only 1 of the pistons popped out? The other was able to retract by slowly turning and pushing pistons back in

If any of the pistons fell out, the brake fluid needs to be flushed in the whole system after all pistons have been properly reinstalled.
Here is how to change the brake fluid if this happens - ruclips.net/video/7W1w6Su0HAI/видео.html.

When reinstalling the pressure nut it was stuck going on and wouldn’t spin. Did you run into this issue?

No, we did not have this issue. I would check if the thread is damaged on yours.

Hey @MorozovAutomotive I have a couple of questions I was hoping you could help with.
    1. Once the piston extends that far, is it possible to just clamp the brake fluid line, remove the line from the caliper and drain it (Instead of disassembling the whole thing)? Would that help remove the fluid and allow the piston to go back into place? Or do you need to disassemble the whole thing to release the fluid?
    2. My piston extended all the way out but using a battery I was able to push it back in a little before it got fully stuck, is that because the brake fluid is in there and it can't go further back? The piston is still able to extend out, does that mean it's still working and going back to question 1, the brake fluid is preventing the piston from being pushed back in?
I just don't understand why it breaks once the fluids gets in.
Thank you so much for the videos!

Hi, the brake fluid does not prevent the piston from being pushed back into the caliper. It is controlled by the valve which allows the fluid to flow back into the brake fluid reservoir if you don't press the brake pedal. You should not clamp the brake fluid line. If your piston fell out completely, you need to lubricate the surface of the piston with the brake fluid and push it back in. You need to switch the battery contacts around to retract the pressure nut and then you need to push the piston in with your hands. Make sure that the piston sits on top of the pressure nut and the pressure nut is engaged with the spindle. Do it in small increments. Activate the epb motor for a few seconds, push in the piston. Repeat.
If the piston fell out, you will need to flush the brake fluid to remove the air from the system. We showed the process in this video - ruclips.net/video/7W1w6Su0HAI/видео.html.

For all those watching, if you accidentally try to get the rav into service mode while the break is off and have your piston over extend, it is not the end of the world! Every comment and thread out there says you're fucked. But thanks to @MorozovAutomotive you can fix it! I did exactly what he said in this video. Took off the caliper, opened it up and drained the excess brake fluid. Cleaned the inside before putting it back together like he did and then the piston was able to retract! After that I was able to install my brakes, bleed it etc. I still had the EPB malfunction on my dash, but I was able to hold my gas pedal and then hold the EPB up and it started working and got into place and fixed itself. I also had a 200$ foxwell scan tool, that I jimmied with so, I am not sure if that helped allow me to get the EPB back into place.
When I went to the local mechanic and showed them the picture of my extended piston, they said the caliper was shot and I needed a new one. False. You can fix it (as long as you didn't use too much brute force to break anything). I cannot express enough gratitude to Morozov for all these super helpful videos!
@Morozov do you have a patreon page that accepts donations, or is it through youtube? I just want you get most of the money and not youtube. Anyways thanks again! Based on everything else I read I thought I was gonna have to tow my car.

I neglected to release the break before beginning the break pad change and caused the piston to pop out. I’ve reassembled the piston From scratch along with bleeding ALL breaks clean.
Problem I’m having now is the electronic parking break is not activating. I’ve tried disconnect battery to shut down system and it will not work.
What’s the solution to get it to work?

I would try to reset the warning message with a scanner that supports the new gen Toyota RAV4 or use this tool: VCI J2534 Cable Fit for Toyota TIS Techstream - amzn.to/3WIResL. Normally it should resolve this problem.
