You said it. My new Prophet 10 Rev4 is being delivered at the end of this month. Wanted one for 40 years next Summer. Bucket list. My lifetime synth (what’s left of my lifetime at almost 59 years old) 😉
@@jptaylor I will turn 63 in 3 weeks.. I am taking the new, still in unopened box, P-10, home, from my hotel, where I live during the work week. This will truly be a THANKSGIVING WEEKEND...

My 4 month old son was giving me hell today, and I threw on this video to distract myself. Suddenly he goes silent so I look down and he's completely mesmerized by the synth demo. Even babies appreciate the beautiful sounds of Matt Johnson.
What i like most is how the p10 becomes an extension of his gentle, calm an focused character. It totally fits plus he is a master of subtility opening our ears to what this great synth can be - a real classical and sensible instrument.
Nice patches Matt! and of course, excelente video performance. Thank you very much for sharing with us. I really loved the parts of "Running up that hill" and "Lent et douloureux", amazing!!!
Yes, the warmth of this synth is unsurpassed. Therefore I ordered a P5 this week despite having a P6 and a Rev2. Still can‘t imagine a synth universe without Dave Smith. :‘(
@@payt01 I don’t think so, albeit one should never say ’never’. Yes, I like to play octaves with the left and 4- or 5-voice chords with the right hand. However, I can use a lot of other synths (P6?) for one hand. Or layer the P5 with the Rev2 which mitigates the audibility of voice-stealing significantly.
Thanks Matt. Made my day. Now I just need to get a real Vintage Vibe to play with my Prophet. Best I have is the Keyscape version. Love your sounds. Please come to Toronto again so I can see you play live.
So sweet to see this video of you playing the P10, Matt. It definitely suits you and your style. I thought so when Mr. Smith first unveiled it. It is just a basic performance synthesizer. You almost made me forget there are no modulation matrices under its hood. Again craving the tabletop module. I just commented below a Tony Franklin upload that you and he should collaborate. Not only would you compliment and add to each other musically. People would scratch their heads as to whether or not you’re related.
You absolute beauty Matt! You probably don't remember but you answered my question in a previous P10 video and convinced me to take plunge. As of yesterday I am now the very lucky owner of a Prophet 10 (my one and only keyboard synth). This preset pack is very timely :) Thanks again!
You showed it beautifully. simple feature set but sounds gorgeous. Like well prepared and baked Pizza Margerita, nothing can match the taste. forgot to mention: grateful for your sample pack! thanks
Hi Matt! Long time fan of Jamiroquai and you. Thank you for the wondrous sounds and video. Would love to hear your insights on the FX processing you have going on the dry signal of these lovely patches. Feels like I’m hearing a stereo chorus sometimes? They’re really tasteful.
I can't remember to be honest but yes I may have sometimes used a UAD brigade chorus which is like a Boss CE-1 pedal. That was the chorus pedal Peter Gabriel used on his Prophet 5 all the time and I really sound the combo of those 2 things!
i love the tech stuff and the style how you play your equipment. greatest channel, educative, touches my soul and give me great vibes to calm dawn! thank you
I made a simple Kontakt 6 instrument with the free multisample, something I've never done before. Interesting learning exercise, and nice sounds. Thanks, Matt!

Exactly, its not just nostaligia!!! This goes for anything we come up with thats great.. we still use the piano, how old is that beautiful musical invention that opened up worlds and still opens more and more... this synth is the same. Same goes for funk all the "styles" of music that have real integrity of magic and musicality... these may have strong connections to certain eras, but, "their is something about" this music!
Oh yes! I will definitely buy your sounds for this wonderful instrument. It's so rich. I have the table version, so it only takes up a little space in my studio room. 🤩
@6:39 such a great sound, sounds like the patch is going through an old lo-fi tape. And kudos for the reference to Japan's Canton1 (Though Richard had those sounds for sale with Native Instruments a decade ago)
Watching and hearing you play always reminds me that, whilst all this incredible technology and all these amazing synthesisers are undeniably wonderful things, the point of it all is expressing oneself through an instrument and reaching out to connect with the listener. Your playing makes me want to just play. For that reason you are the most inspiring of the syntheissts on RUclips. There's one other guy actually who's worth checking out. Different content and interests to you but similarly expressive. His channel is tiny, and I don't think he's particularly focused on growing it, but he's called Kris Lennox. Find his stuff on the Vermona '14. It's beautiful.
Matt!!! Good Lord mate….that lead at 13:50 made me feel like I had to chew on something it was so damn organic and candy like lol. You really push the limits of this board. Thank you…. made me get back on mine today!
Most beautiful sounding keyboard synth, that only comes with a mono output, in the world. Tied with Moog One ofc. You can get similar amazing sounds with epic modular set-ups, and people will say the OB-XA is better or as good. But the Prophet is just smoother and feels other worldly like other famous synths (TB-303, MiniMoog, Juno-60).
The right synth in the right hands :) I'm still amazed how nice thew P5/10 sounds! I mean I do have the P6 and it does most of what the P5/10 does, but I guess there's just something about having the real deal in front of you that's just inspiring :) Thanks Matt, wonderfull stuff!
For those wanting a nice stereo from this on a good budget, check out the Cosmosis Reverb pedal, it's outstanding. Check sweetwater for the review with the P5.
