    The fact that 99% of these highlights are mid range jumpers, fade-aways, and pull up’s is INSANE. All are considered “low percentage” shots in today’s era 🤣🤣🤣 The footwork and fundamentals were off the charts as well. This 97 version of MJ avg 37ppg today, EASY.

    • @Mjumbojetpresdent
      @Mjumbojetpresdent 4 месяца назад +25

      37????! Over 40 easily if he wanted to. If Trey gives you 28 ppg a season, then Jordan (who is at least 3 times as good) gives you 40. So much space he’d have to work with with everyone jacking threes and spreading the floor these days. Plus he’d have his 3 ball polished.

    • @studentofthesaviors.o.s
      @studentofthesaviors.o.s 4 месяца назад +17

      I said he would average 40 maybe 42 PPG. Harden was averaging what, 36 a game? Michael was averaging 37.1 a game back in his era. Now it's just easier to get to the basket, everything is a foul so he would rack up a bunch of those plus he was like a 83 percent free throw shooter he'd be stacking up those points, and undoubtedly he would be a decent 3-point shooter. And who's stopping Michael Jordan at The Rim, Rudy gobert? Yeah right, Myles Turner? yeah right, maybe someone like Giannis from time to time? and there is no shooting guard that is defending Michael Jordan...

      On a team with other great players, think Jordan would average a hyper-efficient 37 points a game today. On a team where he has to carry he would probably average around 42 on still great efficiency. In both situations, all of his scoring would be helping his team win. You can't forget, Jordan DID average 37 in 1987. The game was very different in 1987 (less 3 point shooting), but the pace was actually quite similar to today. This Jordan, 10 years later in '97 would have still great but not as good endurance, and great athleticism but only in spurts, but even BETTER footwork & midrange. You also have to consider if weather or not he would get modern high usage superstar minute restriction treatment. He would also have to adjust to the heavy help (and even zone) defense which makes getting to spots on the mid-range really tough. However, there are barley even handful of players who play hard enough on defense to even TRY to stop him one on one, and none of those defenders are good enough to make him work on the other end. Plus plenty of players today don't even lift weights, so a stronger '97 Jordan will EASILY bully them in the post which will make his mid-range even easier to get off. It is interesting to imagine, because you don't see many players with two-motion jump shots anymore, so Jordan would have the (now) unique ability to get to his spots very easily, and pull up without his feet set or balanced, because you only need to square your shoulders & get good elevation to shoot with a 2 motion. Also Jordan this season shot 37 percent on threes but with the shortened line. I would also bet my life on a 34 year old Jordan winning DPOY in the NBA today (maybe he loses to Giannis). Lastly, he would also be by far the best at finishing through contact in todays NBA, considering he came from the era where there was far more contact around the basket. I am a Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, and Kobe fan but I respect Jordan's greatness and love watching his game.

      @@DaShamGodDONFrankBatista347 I like what you’re saying here... well said.
      I’ve grown to appreciate Jordan more over the years. Maybe because when he was playing, he was usually killing my favorite team.
      One thing you said, about how his playing time might be different in today’s league... I think that’s one thing that private couldn’t be changed. Jordan knew the fans came out to see him, and he didn’t want to disappoint them. And his competitive side would be hard to keep off the court too.
      Quick story... my favorite player was Kobe. I can’t remember the year, but it was the game when Kobe elbowed the Spurs Ginobli? In the face on a jumper. I flew all the way from North Carolina to California, got tickets for me and my son. We sat in last row, upper deck under all those champion banners.
      They lost that game, but still a great memory for me. I also bought Kobe’s #24 jersey at the Staples Center that day.

Jordan's 50pt game against the Heat was the 2nd highest scoring game in this season(tied with Iverson), just behind Jordan's 51pt game against the Knicks(Con game). Yup, only 3 50pt games in the entire season. Jordan still managed to averaged nearly 30ppg on great efficiency and lead his team to 69 wins while making the 1st defensive team. In the playoffs he averaged 31.1ppg and nearly 9 rebounds, despite teams averaging only 94ppg. Underrated season.

    The GOAT 🐐
    MJ was the most entertaining player to watch on both ends. Offensively he never wasted ANY movements, almost as if he was always 4 steps ahead of the defense. As soon as the ball touches his hand.. it’s 1 or 2 dribbles to get to his moves nothing more. Now a days guys stand on top of the key & dribble the Wilson off the ball & shoot when there’s 3 seconds on the shot clock. Or just shoot 30 foot 3’s all game long & play zero defense. The game now is boring guys are far more skilled in shooting the ball from deep but that’s about it.

      What a great first season to see from MJ. This is the year he carried the Bulls like never before. He only had one teammate average in double figures in the playoffs and Finals that year. One teammate scored 10+ ppg in support and he led them to a championship.
      That was the Finals he started off with a buzzer beater game winner in game 1, then had the ‘flu game’ in game 5 on the road when the series was tied 2-2, then finished it off with 39 points in game 6 and had the series clinching assist to Steve Kerr which was a play he ‘drew up’ in the huddle right before. Thank you for uploading 1996-97 which I think might be MJ's most underrated year. It didn't even get featured in the Last Dance documentary at all except for the Flu Game. I really think this season is overlooked because MJ didn't win MVP (second to Malone), averaged just under 30 (29.6) and the Bulls didn't win 70 games (they won 69). It was really only the last month of the season that cost MJ the MVP award because through the first 64 games, MJ was averaging 30.8 points (.491 FG%, .374 3P% and .838 FT%) 5.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.7 steals and the Bulls were 55-9. Had they been able to win 70 games again and MJ kept his average above 30, we may be talking about 1996-97 as one of his greatest seasons ever.

      What’s messed up is they tied the previous winning record of 69 wins. If they didn’t win 72 games the previous season everyone would be talking about how they tied the best record of all time. How Mike didn’t win MVP that year was insane. Karl Malone had a great year, his team won 64 games, MJ was hands down the best player on the best team. Most of those games Mike was on the bench in the fourth quarter cause they were stomping teams by 20 after three quarters. And Rodman missed about 27 games. 15 for kicking that photographer, and the Bulls didn’t miss a beat. Also, Kukoc missed 25 games and Longley missed 23 games. There was no way they should’ve won 69 games that year with all the missed games from three crucial players on that team.

If you wana stretch it and cover his playing style at a certain point then really just any point during his first 3-peat. 1990-1993. His late 20’s.

      @@GODMC87 Lmao, nah not even slightly. You’ve clearly never seen him win the MVP, scoring title, all-Star game MVP, dunk contest, AND defensive player of the year all in the same season in 1988. Putting up 35 pts a game. And then the next year he averaged almost a triple double. And he wasn’t even at his peak yet at that point... No, 1990-1993 were his best seasons by FAR…. He was already 34-35 years old in 1998. Way past his peak by that point. He put up 28.7 pts a game and only shot 20-somethin percent from 3. And didn’t even shoot 50% from the floor. Only averaged like 3.5-4 assists a game that year... During his first 3-peat he averaged 32 a game, 6.5-7 rebounds, 6 assists and over 2 steals. MJ had zero weaknesses in his game during the first 3-peat. Zero. In his late 20’s and still had the physicality he always did but also had the post and mid-range game of his later years, plus the long range whenever he wanted to use it. He shot 37.5% from 3 in 1990 and 35% in 1993; that period 90-93 was his prime. That was him at his best. It’s not even close. He’ll tell you that himself. MJ circa 1990 and 1991 would smoke anybody that’s ever stepped on the hardwood.
