Everyone is acting like he is having this very horrible season and starting to doubt him. Like he has 29p in 34 games on that absoulute ass of a team. + he is starting to heat up. I think he still finishes around point per game.
30 in 35 as a 19 year old on a bottom 3 team in the league looks pretty damn good to me. He was never going to be Crosby or McDavid cause of the physical attributes. Think Kane with a better shot is more likely
@@Kyle-rq1yn That's a very good way of putting it. I know he was a generational producer in junior's but I don't think he has nearly the skill level due to physical limitations of actual generational talents.
@@jfkst1i mean in terms of physique, if u compare crosby to bedard at the same age, Bedard is actually quite a bit more muscular ( atleast definitely upper body) however in terms of play it’s not even close. Crosby was all over the ice from Day 1

All of last year, watching him for the hawks, I had a feeling he was more of a playmaker than a goal scorer. He’s genuinely the right handed Patrick Kane in the making. And I think he’s hurting from the hawks front office not recognizing that he needs a goal scorer that is a genuine threat to play alongside him. If he did, the other team would have to defend him differently. Right now, the strategy is to just smother him and cover the shot lane. And he’s been very vocal about how he won’t shoot if it’s not the right play, which with how he’s defended, rarely is shooting the right play. He needs to use his linemates, but his linemates make a lot of dumb plays that don’t work with him. It’s frustrating as a hawks fan seeing this. Also, he, analytically, has a very average shot. And is a very average skater, which most top players are elite skaters. He really needs to work on that. His first 3 steps are some of the worst in the league, he hardly builds up any speed.
MacK suffered in Years 2-4 bc he lost Stastny (an experienced distributor & faceoff winner) and he was 2nd fiddle to golden boy Matt Duchene (a selfish & jealous player who forced ROR out). Once Duchene was traded, MacK became #1 & flourished.
Yeah I can’t help but be a bit underwhelmed by this too. Even with poor linemates and roster I would expect a little more in his sophomore season. He has the exact same amount of shots on goal as rookie Celebrini has despite Celebrini playing 10 fewer games.
@YuseiFudo52 Good things happen when you put shots on net. Paul Kariya used to lead the league with like 400 shot seasons using wooden sticks. Let that rubber fly!
@@doodlebob2023They aren't the same kind of player. MacKinnon has turned into an all-time great so of course chances are against it but I absolutely believe Bedard could be an offensive force if/when the Hawks actually ice an NHL caliber team. Time will tell. He has the potential but he's small. I prefer Celebrini by quite a margin to be the next big thing though.
it Snot the same! MacK was stuck behind Duchene, where Bedard is unquestionably the Main Man. Therefore, it falls on Luke Richardson for not helping Bedard adjust & improve his game, and put him in positions to succeed. Taking 270 faceoffs with a 30% win rate is all on the coach.
@@petrpumpkineater taylor hall is an nhl hart trophy winner. teravainen, bertuzzi, foligno, donato, etc. he should be tearing it up. look at macklin celebrini. is he surrounded by a great team? no. but hes the real deal.
I'll respond to the 2nd part. You can't fix several weaknesses at once; you must focus on one at a time. IMO, NHL faceoffs are the hardest skill to learn for young Centers & I'd take him out of the dot immediately. Bedard has ~270 FOs taken, which is 3rd on CHI. A poor FO% might be 40-45 but to have 30% taking 3rd most is blamed on poor coaching. Hopefully the new coacch lets Bedard's winger take draws for the rest of the season.
@ That’s fair but my comment was that the work on D zone play should have been done while he was in junior. Which speaks to your point: if it had been done then, there would be less work to put in now and he could focus on faceoffs, or whatever.
This video is a lot more negative than the Celebrini one but it’s worth noting that Bedard is still a generational talent. Time will be the biggest tell of just how impactful he is on the history books.
He's really not. Generational talents don't develop - they're already developed. The go straight to the NHL and skip the farm team for a reason - they are ready. Bedard is not. He refuses to play a 200 ft game. He leaves the zone early. He floats around. He has a great shot, but goalies and Dmen have figured his one move out. He's a good player, but he ain't no generational talent.
Do ya think he'd do this in Vancouver? if Chicago received Petey plus prospects. I AM wondering if he's gonna go to Vancouver for cheap instead probably after his contract year the next year after then be generational in Vancouver wouldn't that piss Chicago fans off he'd be a public enemy to the hawk fans lol.
I think we’ve honestly de-valued the meaning of “generational talent” over the years. It literally means once in a generation. They are above even “franchise/elite talent”. These are extraordinary players who literally take over the league once they step in and have an “it factor” that separates them from the elite level class. Look at Crosby with his insane IQ of the game since he broke into the league and McDavid who’s a class above everyone in terms of his speed and being able to make high quality plays while at full speed to his will. All Bedard has shown is his shot and even then he isn’t all that spectacular. He is definitely a franchise level talent. I’d say you could compare him to someone like Auston Matthews. But he is a class below the top, top dogs.
Dude the recency bias is insane. he struggled for like 13 games and he was still putting up points. That barely qualifys as a slump. He five points away from being point per game as the second youngest player, and everyone is starting to doubt hom and glaze celebrini to the moon. This happened to crosby and mcdavid, but we dknt like to talk about that because its trendy to hate Bedard for some reason, goofballs
Bedard is just an overglorified 1st overall pick. He SHOULD be a PPG if he's generational, Celebrini is close to Bedard even though he missed 10 games.
@deathmachineyt3254 Dude you're an idiot it's not a full season, he's heating up and he already nearly is. And no celebrini is not close to Bedards point totals he's like 13 points behind
This video already didn't age well. Bedard has 10 points in 8 games under the new coach. If he continues at this pace, he'll have 89 points for the season as a 19 year old on a pathetic team.
Idk where all this hate is coming from, posts like this could’ve been used in November when he was actually slumping. He has 13 Or so points in his last 10 games (which is when Luke Richardson was fired).
People are so braindead when it comes to Bedard. Blackhawks are another bottom 3 team in the NHL. Get some actual talent around him and see what happens.
Spot on on the facts, yes hes slumpy now but he's learning and still developing he will get their at full potential. Right now baby steps and reinforcements are coming from our pool of prospects patience will pay off
While I have never been high on Bedard as an elite NHL level player, I'm sure it is probably a sophomore slump and he'll boost his scoring eventually I bet. Unless he keeps getting injured but I think he'd be better as a winger over Center. Mac C is the Fu*kin Truth and I've been saying that he's the next Crosby since he played prep @ Shattuck!
In junior, Bedard would just skate around everyone and beat the goalie with raw power and accuracy, but he will have to adjust his style to the NHL. The NHL is a one timer / shoot-off-the-pass league. The best goal scorers are the ones with elite one timers and the IQ to get open. Elite goal scorers usually aren't holding on to the puck for extended amounts of time and stepping into a shot. Goalies are simply too good at squaring up to a shooter. Also, getting an elite playmaker to find him in high danger areas would help a lot (cough Demidov cough)
Richardson had them playing way too passive, and Bedard has 11 points in 9 games since Sorensen took over. Small sample size, but a good sign. Subjectively, you can see that he's been a completely different player the last couple weeks under Sorensen. As a Hawks fan, I'm terrified that Richardson's "system" stifled Bedard's development a little. It seemed like his goal was just to make sure the Hawks weren't getting blown out every game, but the offense just didn't exist. Between that and the line shuffling, the whole team full of new players is just starting to build chemistry 30 games into the season.
Loved this video. Very well put together and analyzed the topics most people don’t notice when watching hockey. Awesome how you laid out the things he can work on from an analytics standpoint as well. Cant wait for more big head videos in the future!
There was a LOT of doubt about Bedard leading up to the draft. I think many people were just looking for hope since the last generation has still failed to save their teams from cup droughts. We're tired of Sid and Ovi being the megastars & Matthews and McDavid being hyped up as the next big thing for a decade. McDavid and Drai are going on 30. 😱
Conner Bedard player comparison maurice richard. Mack I'd say Steve Yzerman. I watched Mack game recently the Edmonton one when he did that stupid deke in ot was dumb rookie mistake but he gives me chills if he hits his ceiling. He's Franchise Player so is Bedard but they aren't Generational Talents. Tiers Generational Talent >>Franchise Player >>Elite >>Core Player >> Role Player.
Hey thanks for putting these out! I really enjoy your content all around and the Sharks videos helped me bring my partner into the fandom and understand the tragic Sharks legacy.
The chatter about Connor Bedard’s “second-season problem” seems misplaced-it’s less about him and more about the Chicago Blackhawks. Fans set sky-high expectations, hoping for the next McDavid or Crosby. Instead, Bedard’s game leans more toward a Mitch Marner style: exceptional vision, elite playmaking, and high hockey IQ. That’s hardly a disappointment. The real challenge is trying to thrive on a team still mired in a rebuild.
Ovechkin was a center at the world juniors then he went to Washington and they made him a winger and kept him there, I would consider bedard in that mold. Not to many rookie centers playing center right now, its a tough position with alot of responsibilities.😊
When your top 6 high danger passes per 60 include Pat maroon Criag smith and Joey Anderson in it no wonder he can’t score he has no one to work with. This Blackhawks teams just sad. As a 19 year old myself I couldn’t imagine what that man’s going through rn.
The kid's only 19. He is still the 2nd youngest player in the league. Hard to compare to other former greats when they were older coming into the league. Give him more time!
So Connor Bedard seems to have in regular-season play cooled off a bit on the point production. last season he put up 22 goals among 61 points over 68 games, resulting in respective averages, rounded to the nearest 0.001 point, 0.897 and 0.324. Nail Yakupov, who like Bedard was picked first overall by his NHL Draft team, put up in his rookie season 17 goals among 31 points over 48 games, translating into respective per-game averages of 0.646 and 0.354. Yakupov, during his sophomore season, scored 11 goals among 24 points over 63 regular-season games. Bedard, over 35 relevant games this season, has scored nine goals but: - before the February 4 Nations Faceoff, should at least equal, during his sophomore season, the 11 goals that during his sophomore season, Yakupov scored - has already: - assisted on almost as many goals (21) as during his sophomore season Yakupov put up points (24) - put up, in non-preseason play, put more points (30) in fewer games (35) than during his sophomore season Yakupov (24) ever did (63 relevant games) Bedard may not yet be a superstar, but he sure isn’t looking like the bust that during his sophomore season Yakupov would end up being well on his way to becoming.
There isn't much to fix. He is just a very young player and he knows what he needs to do. Early in the season he was a bit snake-bitten on chances/shots and also suffered under the low offense style that was coached by Luke Richardson. Since the coaching change the mindset of the team and their approach on the ice has been more friendly to Bedard's strengths offensively in those games (9 games) he has produced at a 36 goal and 100 point pace. They just need to give time for things to settle under the interim head coach and see how he continues to perform. In all likelihood he will continue to put up near a point per game pace after getting out of the sit back and defend style that the previous coach had the team playing.
Just gonna say it, the days of generational talents are basically long gone. The sport is getting harder, which means to find those talents, the search needs to be wider. I kind of think that it's more rare now than in the past due to sedentary lifestyles, you're gonna face an inevitable drought in a time where those hidden gems are actually more likely than ever to grow up with a beer gut and an anime addiction than a hockey addiction. I think my age group was the last to be outdoor kids, generally. And we began changing somewhere halfway through our young adulthood. Only a couple years after I finished high school, everyone's face was glued to a phone screen. Scary stuff. It's great to see a Conor Bedard, but imagine what he could have been had there been nothing else to do growing up lol
9:25 I think his best option is to stay center. He is better defensively than he was last year, which shows that he is more responsible. Slightly, but more. He's not going to get better at faceoffs and tracking the puck as a center if he plays winger. He doesn't cheat offensively as much as he used to. The goals are going to come. I think he's going to score at least 25 goals this season, and maybe reach 30 if he has a good stretch after the All-Star game. He is passing the puck too much. Something is off, it's not just his skating. I would tell you to put him with Bertuzzi and Hall, but they both don't pass the puck to Bedard. It's like if Bedard is passing the puck twice as much as if he was trying to show to his team he cares about the team and the others. It's like he is trying to win their respect or something. I think maybe Bertuzzi and Hall are bad veterans. Maybe they care more about themselves than the team and Bedard. If that is the case, CHI should get rid of the bad apples and make a trade to get a winger in his mid-20s for Bedard. A guy who Bedard will have chemistry with, though that is easier said than done. Not every random trades end up like the Winnipeg Jets Selanne trade to Anaheim. All Bedard's team should play hard on the boards to clear the center for him. They should try their hardest to play a protect the puck style to draw penalties. Then on the PP, they need to sit the F down in their position and let Bedard skate in the zone. Let him make the plays, let him skate from a side to another to get himself good angles from the middle. Right now, it's not his strength to shoot while being static. He needs to be skating so he can use the whip in his wrist shot. CHI has a better team than SJ on paper but who's at the bottom of the standings? It is CHI. So he's on a sh!t team. Considering they only have 12 wins in 35 games and that he's first in his team with 30pts, I wouldn't call it a sophomore slump.
I have no clue why they are playing Teräväinen in the third line, he's the only one who has good chemistry with Berard and the best playmaker in the team
Richardson’s line shakeups and the overall (lack of) talent really hurt Bedard’s confidence. His skill set out of the box was good enough to be a difference maker. In the NHL it’s not. And I agree that he needs to work on his face offs. We were spoiled by Towes’ willingness to improve his work at the dot, and he did it quickly. He needs someone to look up to because he’s clearly frustrated trying to be Jesus in Skates.
Mackinnon didn’t have a breakout year until his 5th season! He’s already putting up better numbers than he did in his first two years. Is mackinnon a generational talent? You tell me. He will be fine, once he gets more team around him and a legit top liner scorer playing with him.
I’d guess his speed is lower now because he’s clearly being coached to focus on his positioning. You can only really skate at full speed when you know where you’re going. A split second of thinking about where he needs to go means he can’t gain speed during that split second.
no rush man. he just need to put nose to the grindstone, keep getting stronger, keep getting better all around and be patient, the team will get better. a successful team needs a #1 that has a good 200ft game. needs better mentorship
2:15 Come on, man! 🤣 I agree that he could have tried to move the puck and his body a little more on that play in order to be more deceptive, but I think most of the critique should go to the other player who couldn't even lift the puck and score with that super easy pass. Moreover, he had enough space to slide it back to Bedard in front of the goalie for an easy goal. So it's kind of unfair to critique his play if you're not going to say the other player was even worse in his.
I am willing to give him time. Sophmore slumps are common. He is playing with a struggling younger team and they are experiencing growing pains. Bedard has skillls and smarts but he is not a generational player. He will never carry his team but he will be a great contributor especially when the talent pool arrives.
Has a 76 year old who played the game for over twenty years, not at the pro level, who has followed the game since the late 1950 s,the generational tag,was not correct,I agree with several of the comments, that generational, means, polished, and shined, right off the bat! This is not Bedard,it just ain’t!He is good, very good, but to many flaws,to be considered generational! The NHL,and Chicago, media, did all of us hockey fans a dis service ,by the hoopla and hype, his face of lack of process is alarming, not that fast, size is a detriment, grit grade C,will he get better,Damn it he better, but generational,is to me far fetched!
He will be a great playmaker with the right players...perhaps on the wing ...but Bedard is small for upper-elite-open-ice speed on the rush. All of the players you mentioned are at least average NHL height, slightly over 6ft. Re-D, length really helps on the back check. No way he ever matches Kucherov who is one of the most creative players.
there's a reason they are called the 'Chicago Bedards.' He's the main focus of every defense that he comes up against and he has almost no one to rely on to distract the defense in any meaningful way. It's a huge order to ask him to generate most of the offense himself and play the highest levels of defense as well. Celebrini has some good linesmen to help keep the defense thinking (Will Smith, Granlund, Eckland, etc).
I love how people are teady to gove up on a 19 year old with 11 points in his last 10 games. While i do agree he os not a generational talent, franklybthat moniker doesnt mean anything any more. He will be a great player, top tier in the league. Will he live up to the hype? Unlikely. But thats ok cause the hype was absurd anyway.
If I had to guess, I would think he's overworking himself in the offseason, and he's losing speed as a result. Your body needs rest in order to improve
the problem is that he is not living up to the hype and expectations should be tempered. He is nowhere near generational and having a faceoff percentage of 31 is just unacceptable.
@@jasonprice9823 ok, how about his poor defensive coverage on top of that and him being classified as generational without even putting a ppg as of yet (which mcdavid, crosby and AO did during their first 2 season in the league). And to say that it is not an issue having one of the worst FO % tells me you know nothing about the pure fondamental aspects of hockey.
@arihia45 oh my God. A 19 year old player doesn't have a complete game yet... I'm shocked.. step back and use some common sense before looking like a clown.
Simply put: He was the most over-rated hockey player of all time. We heard about him more than 10 times the amount that we did when McDavid was coming into the NHL. It got to the point where most of us were just tired of hearing about him and here we are now and he is just an average number one pick, nothing more. Right now he is sitting at 9 goals in 35 games and they said this guy was going to be one of the greatest goal scorers of all time...
Bro... he's a 19 year old kid on a garbage Chicago team. Look at Macs sophomore season... he CAN still pull it together... doesn't mean he will, but those calling him a bust already are nuts.
@@paulm2041 Bedard is obviously not a bust but comparing his sophomore season to Mackinnon's doesn't fly. Why? Bedard was the most hyped prospect since McDavid. And before that Crosby. Bedard wasn't a normal #1 overall. He was hyped as the next big thing like those 2 aforementioned players were. MacKinnon and the other #1's were not in his class as a prospect. It's disappointing to see Bedard not hit the NHL guns-a-blazing as he was expected to.
@brucemckinlay9739 every player is different. Rarely do two players have the same exact story arc of "straight to the top." The way mcdavid and crosby had. I think bedard will dominate the NHL in a few years but it's just going to take him time. Bedard also did have a ridiculously good Jr career, particularly his performance at the world juniors as a 17 year old... I can see how the media let the hype train roll on and on, as ridiculous as it can be.
Very interesting that a 19 year old is slower than he was at 18. Curious if he went vegan, or is overtraining, or is fighting some injury. He’ll come around though, no doubt. He’ll be great, generational talent is asking much of anyone though. That’s not a title to apply haphazardly
He looks like he doesn’t want to be out there at times. Who would on a team of mini-mites. Agree on moving to wing as he isn’t a high caliber center since he probably never played defense in his life.
Bedard needs some dawg in him. Too passive. He needs some adversity or something to spark his fire. He should be taking min 4 shots a game every night, especially since he’s on that dumpster fire team
You can't say this stuff about the sweet prince, you're going to make kids cry and adults whine. You're telling the truth but they're going to have your head.
Total click bait title. Jumping on this whole content creator gotta be opportunistic and get clicks thing. Sure you gave him some nice compliments, but frankly I’ll trust Anders Sorensen and Bedsy himself about what’s good for Bedsy’s game before you.
Bedard will come back in the next couple seasons and embarass everyone for all the criticism. And I would like to hear more criticism focused on his team mates. It looks like hes carrying a giant load through the desert
Bedsy’s fine. He’s getting important reps against the best players in the world. He needs those reps to sharpen his skills set to this level. Luke’s system was bad for high skill guys like Bedsy - way too conservative and restrictive. (Since Luke’s departure Bedsy’s been hot and Tuevo scorching.). I hope all these ‘wHaT’s WrOnG wItH Bedsy is he a bUsT?’ people eat poo.
McMichael is 23 years old bro. Mackinnon and Rantanen had 38 points in their second season. Draisaitl has 51 points in second season. Jack Hughes had 31 points in his second year. Nikita Kucherov had 18 points when he was 20 years old. Bedard is going to surpass them all in his sophomore year. Still generational, kid is 19 years old let him develop. These videos are ridiculous. He playing like a 19 year old. There hasn't been a 19 years old center who was decent at at faceoffs.
No one thinks those guys are generational lmao. He should be passing them if he's "generational" . Ovi had 92 points, Crosby had 120 points, McDavid had 100 points. Don't see Bedard touching those with how bad he's playing, maybe it's just a sophomore slump, but if he plays like this again next year then may have to call off the generational talent fully.
I see you're getting some blowback from making this video. I dont watch much of Bedard, but I am a flyers fan watching Michkov right now. Michkov is probably the favorite for the calder right now, although Celebrini will make a push. Even though Michkov has been close to a point per game, my eye test doesnt see anything special right now. He doesnt take over plays at any point. He doesnt dominate at any point. He has flashes of being special, but I need to see more. Dont get me wrong...Ill give him time, and I know he has more potential than what weve seen, but Im not ready to call him amazing yet
I think something can be said about the teams these guys play for. Most think that the rookie playing for the better team has it easier. I think the opposite. Neither the Hawks, flyers, sharks, or canadiens are great teams, but I think the flyers are the most balanced of them all. Michkov isn't "the guy" on the flyers (yet), and he also doesn't get a ton of minutes. He's not getting PK time, and he's not in for defensive situations. Bedard is the hawks...they count in him to do anything. I honestly don't know much about the other guys, but I imagine they are or are close to the main focus for their teams.
He has not been good this year. Bottom line. But he is the 2nd youngest player in the league on a really bad team. With that being said he was much much better last season than this one.
I tend to rate players on their ability to deliver the cup, a few of the top guns in the league aren't doing so well are they? Think of Miss-David + no cup 4 U Ma toos!!!!!!!!!!
not worried about him at all. he's on a even worse team it seems some how. hes trying to get his brutal teammates involved more because he knows that he just cant do it on his own on that bum ass team. hes only off by a few points from being a point per game guy on once again a horrible team.
Mitchkov was the best prospect to enter the draft in the last 10 years but he is Russian so the NHL over hype this very talented young man but he is not the generational talent Mitchkov is- u can simply tell by Mitchkov puck handle it’s not even close when we are being honest!
He's also UNDERSIZED...all the guys you mentioned at the beginning are much bigger than him...Bedard still gets pushed around. All the other goal scorers don't get pushed around or push off the puck nobody talks about it they just make excuses for him. He's all hype and Celebrini is better than him already
THINK HE WILL BE IN THE RYAN NUGENT HOPKIND TAYLOR HAL;L JORDAN EBERLE CALIBER 30 TO 40 GOALS FOR 6 TO 7 YEARS THEN 20 FOR 3 OR 4 IN THE BOTTOM OF TOP 100 PLAYERS
so Glad he is under the microscope. than my favorite young player. Adam Fantilli . you guys need to get off his back he will be fine. needs time and experience and better line mates.
He is not generational. He’s good and will be a good superstar. But he’s not in the same league as Mcdavid, Crosby, Ovi, Lemieux, Jagr, or Gretzky. Those are true generational
Some other notes we didn't fit in the video:
- His rush offense is really good - like he's one of the best in the world already. Sometimes the generational label gets put on a guy for the wrong reason, Bedard last season entered the zone with the puck more often than McDavid. That's pretty telling. Part of why it could be slowed down is Taylor Hall playing a full season and his prevalence with the puck.
- Bedard might be more playmaker than sniper going forward.
- Hit the post or crossbar 7 times this season - that’s the 12th most of any player in the league.
- NHL Edge data says his shot is just as hard, just used less
We love Bedard as a player and maybe we didn't show it off as much as we could have in the video - he's really good. Comparing him to Mackinnon, however, feels like a bit of a misnomer. Mackinnon's situation is unique and shouldn't be a comparison for someone like Bedard who came in with generational hype. He broke records at the WJC and lead the CHL in points as a 17-year-old. He has the talent and ability to be a multiple time MVP.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Everyone is acting like he is having this very horrible season and starting to doubt him. Like he has 29p in 34 games on that absoulute ass of a team. + he is starting to heat up. I think he still finishes around point per game.

@@jfkst1draisaitl + matthews not even close to Mack
His first 3 steps are some of the worst in the league, he hardly builds up any speed.
it's called sophmore slump. Saved you 10 minutes. Nathan MacKinnon got 14 goals in his second season.
A generational shooter that takes 2 shots per game. Even at a 10% shooting percentage, that only amounts to about 20 goals in a season.
Let that rubber fly!
everyone is also acting like mckinnon didn’t go through the same thing
do u really think bedard is going to be a mackinnon? you really think it?
Not to mention MacKinnon was surrounded by far better players.
His coaches in Regina didn’t do him any favours by letting him get away with not playing in the D Zone. You need to work on your weaknesses.
@
That’s fair but my comment was that the work on D zone play should have been done while he was in junior.
@@Shurehlm
Exactly. Generational talents don't have sophomore slumps. Compare Bedard to Crosby, Ovechkin, McDavid and he's not in the same category.
@@SoHowYouDoin if he was truly generational i think he’d he at least a ppg in Chicago. He’s just not who we all thought he was
Dude the recency bias is insane. he struggled for like 13 games and he was still putting up points.
He has 13
Or so points in his last 10 games (which is when Luke Richardson was fired).
People are so braindead when it comes to Bedard. Blackhawks are another bottom 3 team in the NHL. Get some actual talent around him and see what happens.
His foot speed is his weakness in a league that’s only getting faster 😬
Spot on on the facts, yes hes slumpy now but he's learning and still developing he will get their at full potential. Right now baby steps and reinforcements are coming from our pool of prospects patience will pay off
While I have never been high on Bedard as an elite NHL level player, I'm sure it is probably a sophomore slump and he'll boost his scoring eventually I bet. Unless he keeps getting injured but I think he'd be better as a winger over Center. Mac C is the Fu*kin Truth and I've been saying that he's the next Crosby since he played prep @ Shattuck!
He’ll bounce back. Lucas Raymond had a shitty sophomore slump too, and he’s better than ever now.
Mackinnon also
Team is poor and he needs better line mates that compliment his growing skills. New coach seems to have gotten him on better track..
Dude these videos are great. Really appreciate the work you put in here.
There was 0 doubt, he was never not going 1. What you talking about?
@thartley16 There was doubt about him being able to perform in the NHL as a megastar due to his size. Chicago needed a megastar to turn things around.
Bedard for Petey Garland and Hoglander + picks
Were you ever a GM for the Islanders at some point in your life?
Where are you getting your stats? I know this about Bedard but Macklin not showing up in zone entries per 60 is extremely suspect.
Bedard, over 35 relevant games this season, has scored nine goals but:
- before the February 4 Nations Faceoff, should at least equal, during his sophomore season, the 11 goals that during his sophomore season, Yakupov scored
- has already:
- assisted on almost as many goals (21) as during his sophomore season Yakupov put up points (24)
- put up, in non-preseason play, put more points (30) in fewer games (35) than during his sophomore season Yakupov (24) ever did (63 relevant games)
Bedard may not yet be a superstar, but he sure isn’t looking like the bust that during his sophomore season Yakupov would end up being well on his way to becoming.
Maybe the other players noticed hes not "the next one" and actually started checking him. He was too cocky and got away with it.
9:25
I think his best option is to stay center.
Get him some finishers and we would be talking about something else.
what about his faceoff %? can't give your finishers an assist when you do not have possession of the puck
I agree that he could have tried to move the puck and his body a little more on that play in order to be more deceptive, but I think most of the critique should go to the other player who couldn't even lift the puck and score with that super easy pass.
He's a playmaker, not a goal-scorer. Period.
He's definitely both lol
If Chicago drafts James Hagens, they might convert Connor Bedard to a winger. Opinions on that?
He’ll leave Chicago as soon as possible.
I love how people are teady to gove up on a 19 year old with 11 points in his last 10 games.
While i do agree he os not a generational talent, franklybthat moniker doesnt mean anything any more.
He will be a great player, top tier in the league. Will he live up to the hype? Unlikely. But thats ok cause the hype was absurd anyway.
lol I love how the media and clowns downplay the kid. give him some talent to actually play with
If I had to guess, I would think he's overworking himself in the offseason, and he's losing speed as a result. Your body needs rest in order to improve
What's the problem with a 19 year having 30 points in 35 games?
Rage bait farming at its best. An easy "do not suggest" click here.
the problem is that he is not living up to the hype and expectations should be tempered. He is nowhere near generational and having a faceoff percentage of 31 is just unacceptable.
exactly. He's still an amazing player
@arihia45 imagine talking about a 19 year old prospect of his reputation and the only negative you can pull up is his faceoff %. Lol
I'm shocked.. step back and use some common sense before looking like a clown.
young guy on a rebuilding team. everything is fine
Chicago has put in to much muscles on him, young body has not adapted to the new body shape.
He looks like he doesn’t want to be out there at times. Who would on a team of mini-mites. Agree on moving to wing as he isn’t a high caliber center since he probably never played defense in his life.
new hockey fans learning about the sophomore slump
For centers you have to let them get experience…
Bedard needs some dawg in him. Too passive. He needs some adversity or something to spark his fire. He should be taking min 4 shots a game every night, especially since he’s on that dumpster fire team
Dude he has nick foligno and Taylor Hall next to him that is ridiculous that would have been good 10 f****** years ago
Mackinnon damn near was a bust at one point, now look.
Yall need to chill.
You can't say this stuff about the sweet prince, you're going to make kids cry and adults whine. You're telling the truth but they're going to have your head.
He is having the old sophomore slump. So is Fantilli. They will both be fine.
he had 30 points in 35 games, that's about what he had last season
Dude just looks like he doesn’t want the puck and just seems lost out on the ice.
He's trying to be an unselfish player. He thinks he's surrounded by NHL talent.. he's not.
Agree 100 percent
Lane Hutson has only 1 less point than michkov as a Dman
I think something can be said about the teams these guys play for. Most think that the rookie playing for the better team has it easier. I think the opposite. Neither the Hawks, flyers, sharks, or canadiens are great teams, but I think the flyers are the most balanced of them all. Michkov isn't "the guy" on the flyers (yet), and he also doesn't get a ton of minutes. He's not getting PK time, and he's not in for defensive situations. Bedard is the hawks...they count in him to do anything. I honestly don't know much about the other guys, but I imagine they are or are close to the main focus for their teams.
Bust?
He's a rookie. Who cares. No rookies start out as the star player. In fact, they usually start freshmen in the DHL farm leagues.
He has not been good this year. Bottom line. But he is the 2nd youngest player in the league on a really bad team. With that being said he was much much better last season than this one.
He’s 19
Nice video, bud!
I tend to rate players on their ability to deliver the cup, a few of the top guns in the league aren't doing so well are they? Think of Miss-David + no cup 4 U Ma toos!!!!!!!!!!
He needs the bubble!
not worried about him at all. he's on a even worse team it seems some how. hes trying to get his brutal teammates involved more because he knows that he just cant do it on his own on that bum ass team. hes only off by a few points from being a point per game guy on once again a horrible team.
0:28 - yes
That’s a snap shot
He needs the fishbowl back
Sophmore slump on a terrible team. Hes going to be just fine
It's not even a slump anymore. 100 point pace since new coach
@Snapshot1965 11 points in his last 10 games with 4 of those games being pointless is not a 100 point pace my man
Mitchkov was the best prospect to enter the draft in the last 10 years but he is Russian so the NHL over hype this very talented young man but he is not the generational talent Mitchkov is- u can simply tell by Mitchkov puck handle it’s not even close when we are being honest!
Michkov doesn't have a point in his last 6 games lol yet Noone talks about that
@ because he is so fun to watch the talent is obvious and a level above Bernard and it’s not close-
He's also UNDERSIZED...all the guys you mentioned at the beginning are much bigger than him...Bedard still gets pushed around. All the other goal scorers don't get pushed around or push off the puck nobody talks about it they just make excuses for him. He's all hype and Celebrini is better than him already
He's way too soft. Needs to ball up a bit
Celebrini is better already
