  • The Red Cliffs Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is currently hosting an open house in St. George, Utah.
This event, which began on January 29, 2024, is a momentous occasion for both the local community and broader church membership. Journalists and dignitaries gathered at the temple for a news conference and an exclusive tour, offering insights into the temple's significance and the spiritual experiences it offers.
Among the participants in this event were Elder Hugo E. Martinez, a General Authority Seventy and First Counselor in the Utah Area Presidency; Elder Jonathan S. Schmitt, another General Authority Seventy, serving as an assistant executive director in the Priesthood and Family Department and the Temple Department; and Sister Tamara W. Runia, the First Counselor in the Young Women General Presidency. Together, they shared their perspectives on the temple and its importance.
Elder Martinez highlighted the essence of the temple by emphasizing its connection to Jesus Christ and its purpose in the lives of church members. He expressed how the presence of the Holy Spirit was palpable during their tour, echoing the sense of truth that had first attracted him to the faith. His wife, Nuria Martinez, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of the temple in achieving an eternal family, a foundational belief within the church.
Elder Schmitt emphasized the significance of open houses like this one, as they allow individuals outside the faith to experience the love of God and Jesus Christ. He noted that these events go beyond mere architectural tours, as the temple itself is considered the house of the Lord. Sister Runia concurred, emphasizing that the spirit and truth of the temple were evident during their visit.
The open house is an invitation to guests who will walk through the newly constructed temple for several days before the official public open house, scheduled to begin on February 1. This opportunity will continue until March 2, with the exclusion of Sundays. Visitors interested in attending can make free reservations online to ensure their participation.
The Red Cliffs Utah Temple spans an impressive 96,000 square feet and is situated on more than 15 acres of land in southwestern Utah. Once dedicated, it will become the second temple in St. George, alongside the pioneer-era St. George Utah Temple, which was rededicated in December following extensive renovation.
The dedication of the Red Cliffs Utah Temple is scheduled for Sunday, March 24, 2024. President Henry B. Eyring, Second Counselor in the First Presidency of the church, will preside over two dedicatory sessions at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. MDT. These sessions will be broadcast to all units within the Red Cliffs Utah Temple district, allowing members from afar to participate in this significant event.

Our temples are ALL made with the honoring "Holiness to the Lord" attached. No matter WHERE you go to WHICH temple, there's the SAME eternal peace that you'll find NOWHERE else on Earth. And BELIEVE me, I've had some VERY spiritual experiences up in the mountains 💖💜
Let us NEVER forget to give daily GRATITUDE to Almighty God for His tender mercies in our lives 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
