I was in kindergarten and Mrs Washington took us kids on the side of the school with her radio and played this song and taught us how to do the Disco Duck. Mrs Washington of Frances Hatch School if you are still out there, keep Disco alive. ♥

Mad Magazine put out 2 flexi-disc disco records in their magazines sometime around 1980 - 1982 I believe. One of the records was called DISCO SUICIDE and had 6 trax on one side. You might remember the kind- very thin plastic black sheet shaped like a square and you had to cut out the circle record to play it, and it was one-sided only. Anyway, this disco parody song "Disco Duck" is funny, but the songs on those Mad Magazine records were beyond hilarious in the way of the stupid humor of Mad Magazine. I'm sure somewhere here on youtube are the complete records. One of those 6 trax is a disco version of Mad Magazine's original 1966 record "It's A Gas", which has got to be the final nail in the disco coffin. Trivia: Rick Dees manager persuaded him to not sign a deal that would've put "Disco Duck" & "Doctor Disco" on the infamous 1977 Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. Talk about big regrets! Also, Boz Scaggs had just released his LP SILK DEGREES in 1976 and his manager also persuaded him to not sign a deal to put his song "Lowdown" on the SNF soundtrack because he might be labeled a disco performer (God Forbid!). In Boz's case, he probably didn't mind because it's still heard in the background in the movie, and since SILK DEGREES went on to be his biggest selling album and I believe has been certified platinum like 5x's over. You can hear several other songs in the movie that also didn't make it to the soundtrack- Carol Douglas "Doctor's Orders", etc. Maybe someday they'll release a 50th Ann. expanded edition and put ALL those songs on it for us hardcore collector's. In different interviews over the years with the Bee Gees, it has been mentioned that Samantha Sang's "Emotion", written by the Bee Gees was considered, as well as Carol Douglas' version of "Night Fever", same with Andy Gibb's first big hit "I Just Want To Be Your Everything", also written by the Bee Gees.

I've been cruising RUclips to make my list of worst #1 records ever, so naturally I came to Disco Duck. But underneath the quackery, there was a pretty groovy track that I never heard without Dees' Donald impersonation. But, this is a 12" single with Parts 1 and 2, not the 45 that topped the Billboard chart. So, the single is still in the Bottom Ten.

Youre right! I got the Original Disco Duck album just days ago and I heard the part 2 instrumental and it is pretty decent without the goofy lyrics. Believe it or not another good track on the album is Doctor Disco
