BEST In-Ear Monitors under $100 - (KZ, TFZ, AS16, SE215, and More!)

- Опубликовано: 25 июл 2024
- Early last year we reviewed a few of the budget in-ear models I had personally picked up over the years and the resulting video ended up being incredibly popular (and stirred up some spicy RUclips comments conversation!)
Soooooo....
We decided to go all in this time around and do a mega review to find the absolute best in-ear monitors around for under $100.
To prepare, we researched our faces off to find eleven different models to compare on our hunt for the absolute best. We unbox all the in ears in this video and you'll get info on each pair's fit build quality and most importantly whether they sound good enough to merit a purchase.
The pair that ended up at number one by my judgement was nowhere near the top of my list before we did this video, so you've got to check this out!

Thank you for this video. I grabbed the T2G in ear monitors for my video editing. I got them and they sound great. Thanks again for the individual reviews.
I just got a pair of KZ ZS10 Pros and I think they’re fantastic. With dozens of choices out there, your reviews helped tremendously. You saved me about $100 and many hours of research.
Thank you so much for the detailed review. Saves me the headache of deciding on all these options, debating between KZ ZS10 and TFZ... unless I should just drop the cash for moondrop starfield?
This was a very helpful video, super informative. I have the Shure 215’s and agree with you. They are somewhat bright and lacking in the bass department. But they are 10 years old and very comfortable. However, based on your presentation, it may be time for a change. Thank you!
Great video mate, love your style of reviewing!
Thank you very much...this video saved me lots of money. I bought the ZS10 Pros and i was so surprised how awesome they sound. I wanted to buy 3 more models for my father and my nephews. Then i found out they have those with 8 Drivers and though they cost at the moment something like 90Euros compared to the 35Euros for the ZS10s i thought i go for the BEST. But the comfort on the ZS10s is already on the edge for long term usage, and you tell me now the comfort is heavier on the 16s and that the sound is not worth the upgrade. I will order more ZS10s now. Thanks buddy ! Appreciated, exactly what i was looking for ! Keep it up !
.
best regards from Germany
Thanks so much for this great review!! really helped narrow my search
Its very hard to find as good reviews as this one! Thank you you help me a lot!
I am not a religious individual, but this video was really helpful when it came to picking up a pair of good earbuds on a budget. Thank you!
We're so glad!
I am quite confused, why does religion matter when picking headphones ?
@@emiliosagichnicht7521 the channel is meant for those who play in a church worship team/group, as mentioned in the first few seconds of the video. As a non religious person, the video was still super helpful, despite not personally being a part of a church worship team :)

Man it is already a couple of years that I am following these tutorials For worship musicians. And let me tell you they are the best tutorials about music studio and live gigs around. Great explanations! thank you very much!
Totally agree on that TFZ T2 GALAXY take number one spot, they are incredible. Another iem that is getting raving reviews are the WHIZZER KYLIN HE01.
Always love your reviews, David. Thanks for your hard work and commitment to your craft. Just curious, what happened the to KZ ZS5’s? We got some based on the first video, and have been very happy with them.
KZ ZS5's are a great option as well. Smaller than the zs10 pros and usually sit around $35 on amazon.
Thanks David, appreciate solid honest reviews
Thanks for watching!
Bought my KZ ZS10 pro's a week ago and they're the best sounding things I've ever put on my ears. No matter the price. Considering they're only $45 , it's not even a question if it's a buy. I also have ES 4s, don't recommend not good. The ZS5'S are incredible for the price, but ZS10 pros are best.
super detailed and good recommendations for groups of people! love your effort!
I'm so glad they are putting more sound technology into budget wire buds. Great job on these nice detachable cable models. Good show.
Thank you very much for this
I wish for the best for you
Wonderful video - perhaps my favourite
Great rundown. Extremely detailed in every aspect and very informative. Helped make my choice more clear. Thank you!
My daily driver IEM is the Fiio FH7’s but my budget pick would definitely be the Blon BL03’s. You can usually find them for $30 and under.
Try Fh1s underated product
Thank you for timestamping this video, it's much appreciated.
I'm so glad I found your video. Exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you!
I'm so glad!
Thanks for making this video. I used to own a pair of Shure SE215's but lost them a while back and need some new replacements. The SE215's were pretty good but I found they lacked a little detail and depth of bass. Having had a look at your video I'm torn between the KZ ZS10 Pro and TFZ T2. Whichever model I end up going for I would look to upgrade the ear tips and cable.
How do these compare to the Shure SE215? Which has the least harsh sound? Thanks
Excellent video. Very helpful.
Surprised not to see the Tin T2 or T3, amazing video either way!
Yeah im surprised he didn't have the tin t2's. They are legendary.
Great RUclips video. I have watched lots of youtube review videos and I would rank yours in the top 5%. Rock on!
Well, done ! Excellent video. Wondering about your thoughts on a cable upgrade for the KZs. I was looking at the Westone, because it’s the longest; is the Westone cable compatible with the KZ in-ears?
Great info! Thanks so much!
Like your well paced, laid back style of review of the budget IEMs. I have the KZ ZS10 pro. Out of the box they sound a bit bright, even harsh. However, after 200 hours burn in and swap with the foam tips, they sound so good. I could hear the details I never heard before with other earphones. I'm glad that I got the ZS10 pro.
isn't the headphones 'burn in' just a myth!!
@@invelpubgm3250 yup. you just get used to it.
@@invelpubgm3250 It can be noticed in an A/B test if you have propper methodology, but the difference is almost negligible.
@@divyanshraghuwanshi457 Exactly. I have a KZ ZST that hisses at me because of low impedence + high sensitivity, and after a year I don't hear the hissing anymore. I just got used to it.
@@WhenDoesTheVideoActuallyStart yup.
I’ve had a pair of M6 Pros for at least 4 or 5 years now. They’ve been awesome! I always assumed that more drivers = more clarity or general sound quality. Thanks for setting me straight on that. I do love the memory wire on mine too. They finally died as I was trying to clean out gunk and broke one tip ...
I play keys, but also lead. So I need good vocals & good keys sound quality.
You talked about your favourites being a scooped V EQ. Does that make them less good for vocals?
What would you recommend for my context?
Thanks tons! Great, thorough video.
I've had the MX2 Pros for a year and a half and wouldn't recommend Mee Audio. After almost a year I noticed the right side volume was much less than the right. They replaced them under warrantee. When I got the new one the left had much lower volume, they replaced that one. After another 6 months the right side is going out again. Their lifetime replacement program now requires that you pay for half the cost, so $50 to pay for headphones that should last longer than 6 months. I will never by Mee audio products again.
@@broncogrizz fair enough.

That was the best review of any i have seen . Just the information that I need to deside my earphones 100% class 🎵🎼🎤🎶
I picked up the CCA model a few months ago as my first set of in-ears. I don't have the same level of trained ear to be able to comment on the sonic quality, though I have found them generally pleasing. They have a ton more power than my bluetooth powerbeats3 that I use daily for general listening (especially in the low end). I also would agree that I have experience that you demonstrated in the video that the fit is perhaps 95% of what I would like. I am going to pick up some foam tips to give those a try to see if that helps. Thanks for the review!
Very good video, keep it up pal
Hi! Great review! I have a concern and would appreciate your opinion. The Fiio FH3 has so many great reviews but the price is quite out of my budget. At the same time, I’ve been hearing a lot of good reviews about the CCA CA16 which has a 7BA+1DD as compared to the FH3’s 2BA+1DD. I’ve also heard many good review about the Moondrop Aria. Now, between the 3 - the Fiio FH3, the CCA CA16 and the Moondrop Aria, which one is best for you and why? Highly appreciate your expertise on this please? Thanks so much in advance!
I bought a couple of KZs a while ago. The ES3, ZS6 and ZS3. I like the ZS3 (basic model). Single driver, super smooth. Also in comparison to the Shure SE215...
Great video! Thanks
INCREDIBLE review! The only ones I ever got to use were the se215's a long time ago and as a drummer the lack of bass kinda turned me off to them but as they were the only pair I'd used, I didn't know what any other ones would sound like. Having a review that compares those to other really helped me. Will prolly go with the T2G's or maybe the zs10 pros if not.
what did you go with?
@@gladysbaptiste3028 I'll be honest, I ran into a period where I need to be kinda careful with my money so I haven't had a chance yet. I've decided on the ZS10 Pro's when able though.
THIS WAS REALLY USEFUL THANKYOU
Great video, but what made you change your mind about the KZ AS16? last year video you liked them.
now the real question is wish one will you recommend for a singer? I'm leaning more towards KZ AS16 or KZ AS10, please let me know what you think.
thank you.
ER2XR(on sale $50) - very hard to top, Moondrop Aria 2(Cheaper Starfield), MoonDrop SSR(FOH and MD), and BLON BL03(Bass/Drums/Electric)- Would go with any of these over the provided list BUT they ALL are good and way better than what I started with. It is just a great time to be looking for IEMs for home, work, band, etc.
All of these are DD as well I should add. So they can be dropped etc without worry. Sacrifice some of the BA clarity with more organic feel.
Would add the TFZ live 3 to this list... 20 dollars less than Moondrop Aria, same energy and only a little less refined. Plus they come with spinfit ear-tips.
Hi David, would you recommend the T2 G for keys players or would you have another top 1 pick for keys players? You specifically mentioned bass and drum players in the review.
I'm listening to this with my KZ ZS10 Pro's that I've had for about a year now and damn these things can take serious abuse. I use them for everything, travelling, doing work around the yard, you name it. Never gave me trouble and they sound solid. I'm thinking about upgrading though and the Whizzer HE01 look like a wicked pair. I'd be dope to see you review them.
thats true, kz zs10 pro was really built well
can i sleep with it? wire or a plugs wont break? are realy these kz good for casual music listener who want quality audio. i mean looks like sz10 pro for 30 money sounds better than big brands 100 money offerings O_o how is that possible...
@@racistpixel1017 The wires and plugs are in just as good a condition as when I bought them aside from a bit of corrosion around the connections which are relatively easy to clean but it shows through the translucent material to an extent. Sleeping with them depends on the size and depth of your ears. I personally don't sleep with earphones so I can only theorize that they may be fine to sleep with since they're not super bulky and are quite comfortable for extended periods of time.
thanks made it allot easier to pick from the 100+ kz variants and i got myself the zs10 pros for £25 on discount cant wait for them to arrive
been using the kz zs10 pros for about a month now, theyre amazing. balanced and a bit punchy. you can really just lose yourself while listening to music. theyre swag
@@uzey8749 does it has bass?
I have been using Shure SE215’s with custom mould sleeves for a few years. They have served their purpose but due to the moulds not fitting properly anymore I needed to either get new moulds or try something new. Whilst the SE215’s + custom mould sleeves served their purpose, I haven’t been totally satisfied with them and after watching this and other videos I decided to try the newer KZ ZS10 Pro-X and so far I have to say I’m extremely impressed with these. They are a complete step up from the SE215’s in sound and surprisingly they fit better and I get better isolation from external sources. They also stay in place better than the custom moulds!
I have 215s and never knew about custorm moulds. I have the KV-AS10..was thinking about the KZ--ZS10 Pro X, how much low end do you hear with yours..? I'm a drummer. Now for tips, I use the good old foam tips. Got use to them when I use Foam Ear Protection at work in a printing co. LOUD.
@@deadave100 a lot more bass than the SE215’s 👍🏻
One question, the kz in ear in amazon comes in 2 types with mic and without mic. Their prizes varies a lot, are there any difference in quality? Please explain.
If you are using them as in-ear monitors stay away from the built-in mic cables, they can cause some issues depending on what system you use for monitors.
Thank you for the reply. I’m planned on using it as in ear monitor, so should stay away from the with mic cables.
@@SundaySounds Hi, do you plan on making an updated version of this? I’m curious
I grabbed a couple of the ZS10 pros for me and my girlfriend in black and blue to use for casual listening instead of the typical stock ear buds that come with Samsung phones. I must say that we both love them for the fit and sound considering the price and compared to the galaxy buds. I think I'll be happy to try some foam tips for both of us to try for added comfort and maybe some nicer looking and feeling cables in the future.
You share your earphones with your GF? Lucky one! Where can I find such adorable gf ;)
galaxy buds, apple pods and all that that might or might not come with a phone or anything from apple is considered worst from the worst, so realy anything you would buy from big brands for same price would sound considerably better.
@@happysoul941 no I dont share ear wax with her lol, she has her own pair.
@@racistpixel1017 yeah your right comparing them to trash is going to be a obvious outcome haha. I have a pair of hifiman sundara at my destop and find that even though they have very different sound profile, the overall sound quality you can get with a iem for a relatively low amount of money compared to headphones is impressive. I'm just excited to have been so blown away by my first entry level item in the iem world, so many affordable goodness out there to try.

The range of pricing and models are crazy! I have tried most of the premium models from UE to Bose and my go to are the KZ ZS10 Pro. When I was first introduced to them, I thought the guys was playing a joke with me. I tried them one day while doing sessions and was blown away. Even in my Drum Covers, I'll have the KZ ZS10 Pro models in. Nearly prefection! Nice review.

got the KZ ZSN pro x as my first in ear monitors and i LOOOVE THEM
I got my pair of KZ zst pro and they are amazing, compared to my pair of wireless earbuds they sound wider and punchier and also just fit my ear better since my wireless just hang out of my ears and fall out most of the time so I’m definitely a fan KZ now. They also look awesome with metal plate and the see through base
i have too .. but as16 more 16x better than zst
Great video! I was looking to upgrade my cable for the KZ's. Is the Westone 2 pin cable compatible ? The KZ cables are too short. That's my biggest complaint with them.
Thank you for this video, I myself am a very budget conscious audiophile and looking for the best in fidelity that I can get while not spending a ridiculous amount of money on them, any suggestions for a good dac and or amp (preferably a mobile one so I can use it with my phone) that's not to expensive since IEMs are a bit sensitive to noise floor?
Superb video 👍👍👍
What you think is good for my Bass guitar? will connect the earphones via Scarlett Solo
awesome video. i was just looking for a set to replace my ZST’s for church.
I bought my KZ-ZS10 Pros and have loved them, but I'm researching some new ones now, as the right side connectors are too loose now, and they keep falling off of the cable. Would consider another pair, but I'll watch this video in full and maybe change my mind after watching. I play keyboards (Using Sunday Keys of course) so looking forward to the options!!
i seen kz dq6, amazing design, classy... wonder how it sounds compared to zs10 pro

@@muhyusuf1263 i own 2 pairs. i don’t recommend getting them unless you like gambling. i have one that sounds superb and one that sounds like trash.
I have recently jumped into the IEM rabbit hole for music listening on the go. I have the KZ ZS10 Pro and was interested in the ZS AS16 but was not sure of spending $136 for them.
Since the CCA sister brand to KZ usually compares pretty close I did find a set of CCA CA16's for $79 and thought with that price I would give those a try.
First off I am older with mid 60 year old ears that have been subjected to their share of abuse and decades of rock concert attendance so take that into consideration in my opinion.
I also have found I like the Alza SedanaEarFit tips and I switch cables to a 4.4 balanced output to use with a FiiO Q3 amp hooked to a Samsung Galaxy phone as my on the go music source.
I also listen mainly to 60's, 70's and 80's classic rock and blues or blues based rock music as well as my main music type.
My personal opinion, I like the CCA CA16 sound and although they are not exceptional anywhere they are very pleasing to listen to with a good separated response across all ranges which is exactly what I want for casual on the go music consumption. So this may be one you want to try at a better price point than their sister KZ's AS16 offerings. The CCA offering is an all plastic housing but its smooth edges feel good on the ear fit.
Also I am one that likes a sort of "Sennheiser" sound profile and my main listening over the ear headphones for home use is a set of HD700's. Again many think these are to sharp or bright on the treble end and again I do want to mention that I am listening with mid 60 year old ears that have been abused so my opinion is from this vantage point and not much younger ears.
I do feel sometimes that when engineers design different sound profiles they do take into consideration the different demographic groups and realize some profiles are designed more for one age group than another where hearing can be sharper or more degraded.
I do have one more set on the way, a set of Blon 05s and at that point will limit my decent into the IEM rabbit hole. I refuse to get sucked in any deeper! lol!
can you share some songs of blues based rock, sounds interesting
This is gold thanks!
Thanks for the great video! I’m wondering what you’d recommend for smaller ears. I’m a guitarist who’s 5’6”, so me ears are on the smaller side, but not to the extreme. This will be my first IEM purchase, so I want to stay under $100 until I know if will permanently get rid of floor monitors. I’ve been considering the Shure SE215, Sennheiser IE 100, KZ ZS10 Pro, CCA C12 and BASN Bmaster, among others. Do you have any thoughts on these, or maybe a different option altogether? I appreciate your work…it’s really well done!
Hi, witch one you recomend for a dj? Thanks for you help
have you tried the TIN T3 and TRN BA5? If yes, would you consider those as neutral sounding IEMs?
Greeting,
I almost bought my first ones IEM, KZ ZSN PRO X and I had no experience with similar headphones before them, I was thrilled to hear them for the first time but also irritated my ears with too loud sound and aggressive high frequencies, but I soon got used to it. I am a musician and I create and playing music, so I have experience with many monitors speakers and headphones of larger format such as AKG K712 PRO, so I generally liked the sound ZSN PRO X. Now it came to me by Friday that I can buy very cheap CCA C12, CCA C10 PRO and KZ ZS10 PRO, and since I don't plan to change those headphones later, I'm interested in which ones are of the highest quality and is there a clear difference between them and mine ZSN PRO X which I already own? I listened to a lot of videos about them and read a lot of reviews
and I can say that I am more confused than at the very beginning. Please help me. thanks in advance
Cca c12? Would you rank it in the top 3?
A big fan of KZ! You'll be amazed at this brand's IEMs.
God has bless you with great skill. I have the Shure 215 and like them alot. Thank you for the review.

I didn't see the Kz as10 on this video have you reviewed them because they are amazing for how much they are
Which one of these would you suggest for an aux player?
I was thinking about buying the KZ-AS12 till i seen your video. So the next ones I may want are the KZ-ZS10 Pro X.
I do have the KZ-AS10..love them and the SE215. Being a drummer..2 words.. "Foam Tips"
Thanks for the information, Dave. Also, I decided to purchase the CCA C10's over the KZ ZS10 PRO's because of what you said about them being a little bit looser and how their stereo image sounds a little bit further spread across and has more low end energy. Plus, I'm going to be using them to listen to music at the gym. Additionally, they're on their way and I hope that I purchased them from your link because I watch to so many videos.
And by the way, are you familiar with the CCA C12's? And if so how do you think that they compare to the CCA C10's?
I can't compare them to the C10's since I don't own them, but I have the C12's and they are my go-to iems. Their sound is ideal for me, fun, punchy, and full.
KZ ZSN Pro are my favourite budget Iem bass is strong with them the SE846 and IE800 are my two IEMS I use when at home
very helpfull thank you !
Switched from 215's to KZ AS10's today, and wow! They sound significantly better. Personally I don't agree that 215's are comfortable and an easy fit... I've been struggling to keep them in my ears for years now, constantly having to push them back in to get a seal and hear the low end, no matter which tips I use. I'm really impressed with the AS10's, which sound significantly better to me, and kept a perfect seal all service.
I’m assuming you probably tried a few of the different size/material tips with the 215s? I am fortunate that I’ve never had an issue with the 215s (or 315s); I found the foam tips to be the best for getting rid of stage noise and are incredibly comfortable, I’ve worn them for literally hours on end with no issues. I did a huge gig (like 30,000 people) that was about 2 hours long. They stayed put despite my head banging, stage noise was a minimum (guitar cabs maxed out around me, I was playing my drums as hard and loud as I could), and I heard everything I needed to at a comfortable volume level.
I’m glad the AS10s are working out for you though! I think my next step is custom molded stuff, I just don’t want to drop the coin for it lol
@@FOSSIL13drums yep. I tried all of the tips I could find for the 215's. Just couldn't keep a seal.
@@FOSSIL13drumsi totally agree.. im using 215 on my everyday gig.The first time i used it on stage, i thought i bought the fake ones. The KZs have different cables because they come from different iterations of their cables, the latest are the ones with the zsn pro x

Can you review the kz edx, its a really cheap iem from kz and its only 6-8 dollars. Im using it now and i just want to know how does it compare to it since this is my first iem
What do you think about the TRN ST1?
I've never used an IEM before abd I'm really curious to know how do these compare to a pair of wireless earbuds such as Jabra or sony in terms of sound quality. thanks
would love to see someone test these in an actual live band setting vs listening to mix/mastered songs.
I’ve recently bought the Stagg SPM 435 for £50. I’ve never bought an IEM but these sound great
As a bass player and vocalist, would the TFZ's be a good choice vs. the Kz zs10's?
I though the MMCX cables that Shure uses were an open standard. Can't find enough info online about it though.
How are the IE 100s compared to the IE 40 pro? I am trying to decide between these two options, IE 40 pro Clear or IE 100 pro Black.
I like the clear look, and the 100s are around 11% more expensive in my country... I wil use them on stage in church (I play electric guitar) and for listening casual music with my phone while in public transport.. which ones would you take?
K just bought the CCA C10 would you get a different pair because I bought the Mic Version no Mic unless I'm missing something and I can't find a Bluetooth adapter and what KZ would you recommend
as I'm watching this, I have the SE-215's in my ears. if you're thinking about dropping ~85 to 90 bucks on them do it, and invest like 12-19 dollars into Dekoni Gemini tips, trust me its an amazing combo

do the dekoni tips neutralize the sound?
Lol fuck no, shure is overpriced garbage
@@DonJohn87_YT After having used two pairs of them now (and not owning them anymore) I can kind of agree with this, they have decent sound and fit me really well but there are definitely better options out there for people without weird ears nothing fits in lol
hey man, why recommend these tips? are the ones in the box not good enough? Let me know thinking of getting them
Could you do the video iem for profession on mixing song or play stage?
I am new on in-ears topics, I have a question, do you know if its possible to connect to X transmitter a body pack receiver from another brand ?
Which of these would you recommend for gaming? I play games were footsteps and sound are very important. Thanks
QKZ VK4 which is cheap and really great for gaming. You can even get it with a mic cable.
Thanks alot for the video
Thanks for watching!
Should look at the Moondrop IEMs now that you’ve got a decent wide and broad selection to compare to
my zs10 pro life came to an end, the steel mesh came out of one of the earphones and eventually the entire steel frame tip from the plastic body breaking the wire. after several years of usage i came to the conclusion that they're not sturdy enough as with many iems & it had too bright treble of a profile to enjoy bass songs with. the volume was insanely high so never even went above 30% volume in regular use otherwise would damage my hearing in the long run. I've switched back to headphones. went with a sennheiser hd560s this time.
Is there a place, forum, for page where I can ask general IEM questions?
For Bass Players which is better? For stage monitoring with comfortable and best sound...
I think it is very important to consider what you are going to use the in-ears for. I bought the KZ ZS10 PRO based on David's review, but sent it back a day later. I mainly use the earphones as a musician and I experience the bass as way too loud with too much sound pressure to play comfortably. With my Shure SE535 in-ears (of which 1 earpiece is now broken) I could play keys or bass guitar for hours without any problems with my ears or an unpleasant feeling. So the KZ ZS10 PRO indeed have a sublime sound, but for live performance it is all a bit too much
My shure se535 also broke the R side!!! the L side is failing all the time. Considering the ZS10 pro, i play 7 strings guitars and low tunes, so maybe i need volume and definition on the bass.
True I guess. Had the shure 425 i think it was which for just listening to music was complete GARBAGE considering the price
I know maybe a newbie question as I never dig into those type of headphones I’m always listening music using apple wired EarPods and they produce the best sound experience for me out of all headphones I have ever tested. Do those monitors provide even better sound quality than apple EarPods?
I got the KZ ZSTs as my first pair of IEMs, the vocals definitely stand out clear with them.
Bass is punchy, mids were a bit lacking for piano music (Walk through the park), treble was definitely on the crispy side, but FUN nonetheless.
If given the chance to upgrade, KZ ZSN PRO Xs are the way to go, which I have gladly done.
KZ ZSN PRO Xs have much STRONGER bass and much more balanced sound.
Bass Mids and Treble were all well represented, but vocals don't stand out as much though with the KZ ZSN Pro Xs
