I encourage everyone all wrestling fans to have both or atleast try one or the other. They are awesome together. Too many fans are choosing sides when in reality they both matter. Just like both promotions matter. 🎉 if you love aew buy aew. If you love wwe buy wwe but if you love wrestling buy both. No need to just choose 1.
Looking at it now they were both bad I wanted a good wrestling so bad that they both let me down. I can give you many reasons why they were bad but both of these games actually burned me out of wrestling games. Now that I started playing wrestling games again I mainly been playing Fire Pro mostly.
Good video and I agree with a lot of it. While I am not a fan of the way 2K23 plays at all, there are so many things to do in it that I can spend time just creating stuff and simulating matches. Love the way AEW feels and plays, but after a week I am running out of things to. I need the gameplay of AEW but with the modes of 2K23.
Totally understand. I enjoy the gameplay of wwe 2k. Especially the more recent ones in 2k22 & 2k23. Prior to that they felt really bad. I’d still take the smack down vs raw games any day of the week. But I’m with you when it comes to aew ff. I hope they flesh out match types and add new game modes.
Perfect reason why these companies need to combine. Either push either to give the best game possible or join forces and actually sell a complete game that everyone would like. Just like madden and nba 2k
I enjoyed AEW the first 3 games. Missing key roster members that have been with the company since the beginning. Missing too many game modes and match types. Creation suite is almost non-existent in fight forever. So for me 2K23 wins and wins big. Just not enough content in fight forever. It feels like they rused it and it should not be at full price for what you get.
I do think this game could have benefited from an additional year of development vs trying to add extra content through DLCs and seasons. I also didn't understand how you could only have 4 wrestlers in a match at once. I agree WWE 2k is the far superior game atm. Ill continue to keep checking out AEW FF as they add new modes, match types etc.
AEW should change their character models. Right now it reminds me of the circus dolls that are controlled through threads by people lol. Rest everything especially the barbed wire match just blew me away with how good they are.
I've been a huge WWE fan since I was a little kid in the mid 2000s, and the old WWE games always captivated me. Smackdown Shut Your Mouth, SmackDown Here Comes The Pain, and the SVR series were such a blast. When 2K took over, I found each year's title a repetitive, copy and pasted game. Basically, the style I loved was gone. But AEW man, hooooly. When I played it, I was laughing, having so much fun, feeling so much energy - it felt like the old days. The crazy part? I dont watch AEW. I only watch WWE. But this game makes me want to start watching their programming...
Give AEW a watch it's a good show to me. And it's different enough from WWE to where I don't feel like I'm getting wrestling fatigue. But I agree early 2000'a wrestling games were the best. My favorite to this day is "Here Comes the Pain". I remember being able to start your match in the ring and take it all over the place backstage. Now AEW FF is pure mayhem and fun. It's such a good alternative and change of pace.
"Here comes the pain" was a great game. Although, my personal favourite was Smackdown 2 on the original PlayStation. I remember when I first played it and loved how much of an improvement it was over the original smackdown game. I wonder if they'll do the same in the future with a new AEW game. Perhaps this one is just a draft of what's to come.

I still play N64 AKI joints to this day. Good to see a spiritual successor. This is definitely a cop for the Nintendo Switch, seeing as their wrestling library is so lacking.
Well done comparison... Yeah, the AEW game is by far a shallower experience than what the WWE2k series has come to be. I was totally disappointed in the customization features provided in FF, I guess they originally just set out to make a No Mercy-esque experience without really improving on it, in a lot of ways the THQ/ AKI games were more elaborate in their customization options. The online experience and cheap CAW move sets really killed it for me, I only really enjoyed it for a week or so. I feel like AEW's intentions were in the right place, but the harsh real-world limitations of game development and lack of experience got the better of them here. Personally, I wasn't expecting "perfection", but just "better than what we got" .

there are some Major things left out when it comes to the AEW game, this game is gonna be supported for years, so a lot of the things like game modes, match types, ect. are coming in due time, some of the match types and variations are already in the game in the road to elite mode, matches like 2V1, 3V1 handicap matches, multi person ladder matches, things like that, I don't know why they aren't available as exhibition yet but im sure they're coming, but AEW took an approach where they are releasing more match types, more wrestlers, and things like that in seasons, season 1 ends in August, as for the creation suite, It's bad, I know more things are coming, but I don't think we're ever getting custom logos or a community creations, because this game is gonna live a die with DLC. also the new stadium stampede mode that we got a preview for today looks different than anything ever done in a wrestling game before.
No doubt I'm sure they will release more content for the game. I don't think they are going for a yearly release as they do with the WWE games. I guess I'm so accustomed to how the 2k games do things it's weird for me how they are doing seasons in FF. The great thing is i have both so when i get bored i can jump back and forth.
I bought Fight Forever on the Special Edition launch day...so maybe a week ago? I just bought 2K23 tonight because PlayStation had Deluxe Edition on sale for the same price as the standard. These are my first wrestling games since WWE 12. I skipped SVR 2010 and 2011 so I remember that alone feeling like a huge jump. Anyways yeah, after coming back to wrestling games after over a decade by getting both, I like the gameplay of Fight Forever way more. Where 2K23 is better is obviously the insane amount of wrestlers to choose from and the match types. I personally don't care about CAW and Career Mode though. The only reason I want them to be better is so more people will buy it and the developers can dump loads of money into it. I just wish Fight Forever was more polished. Even I can admit that creating a move set is janky as hell without the ability to filter move types and CAW was more featured in SVR 2008. My biggest issues by far are how easy it is to knock tables over, all the random bugs, the glaring lack of match types, the fact that you can't simply modify match rules (rope breaks for example), and the thin roster. Also I'm personally not a fan of button mashing to get out of pins coming back. I get why they had to go ahead and force this game out after all the years and funding spent. I just really hope there's huge updates and followups down the line. Hopefully Stadium Stampede really is what it sounds like. That will be huge.
Okay so you’ve been away for a while. Your assessment is pretty spot on. I will say you did good by skipping the WWE because they got real bad. They even skipped WWE2k 21 because of how bad WWE 2k20 was. So they added a bunch of extra polish and gameplay changes and brought it back with WWE 2k22. But I’m with you I very much enjoy the gameplay of fight forever. And it does feel more rushed then anything due to common things missing like a tornado tag match. Good points through out thank you for pointing out how fight forever is there 1st outing since a long time and that for what it has its pretty good for a base version way to many people seemed to go into that game expecting a wwe 2k game when its not meant to be both games are good and people need to grasp WWE 2k games have been around for much longer the last wrestling game yukes was even in on was 2k14 and that was produced by not made meaning yukes hasnt actually made a wrestling game in a very long time so this is pretty decent considering how long they been out and of course wwe is going to be better they had like 10+ years to build on with yukes in the shadows not doing anything 🤷
i enjoy the spectacle of watching matches on wwe2k23 universe mode. and i kind of enjoy the GM mode. The only thing i don't like about wwe2k23. is how there are a lot of moves that like take time.. its like your stuck watching a animation play out than playing the game. and the submission moves. i can't find a balance with that when i play.. it's either the computer is too strong for me... or when i balance it.. they are too weak. so i just watch. but what i do like with AEW is the gameplay. i like how moves are like done more snappy. there's not all this unnecessary animations to just doing a suplex. overall i do prefer 2k23 i just feel like it has a lot more going for it. it's lot closer to the wrestling game i want, than the rest of them.
aew is already a dead game should have brought up the steam charts alone and youll see why aew wont be forever... you get if you're lucky 100 people on at one time as for wwe 2k23 gets about 2400 or so online as of right now there are more people on wwe 2k23 in the morning than aew has ever had at a peak that should tell anyone where aew fight forever is heading it will not be updated longer than a year they will not be able to afford it
aew ff looks like its a fun game to play i hope it does well and that yukes update the game for me i prefer the wwe games i like the gameplay the full entrances etc and it has universe mode
Totally understand. FF is certainly fun. And I understand their approach. Wanting the game to be faster pace etc. But like you I wish there was full intros and more game modes to play
@@playingVideoGamesAfterWo-hn5zk that’s fair I felt the same. I think even if they just had more match types it could have took the game much further imo
I have played I believe all the wrestling games we're not all of them like the Japan games I haven't played but all of the WWE WCW the old wrestling games from WWE WrestleMania all the WWE games and WCW games and all the Monday Night Raw and robbers Smackdown I had them all when I first played aew I thought it was cool it reminds me of old school like NWO vs. WCW no mercy play with a friend that's fun it's not worth full price and I'm sick of it already WWE 2K is awesome very fun
I think it's funny how we're comparing AEW's first game to WWE, which made several dozens by now. Like it's supposed to measure up some how. You want my opinion Fire Pro puts BOTH of them to shame, in terms of creation suits, and match types. Only thing they have that Fire Pro doesn't is a set roster, and better graphics. Let's wait until the first few updates before we condemn a FIRST DRAFT.
I have not played Firepro. So I can speak to that. However, I did mention that I didn't expect FF to compete with 2k because of the reason you mention. Which was wwe games have been around forever. However, where I was slightly disappointed is that the developers are not new to this. Yukes have been making wrestling games since the '90s. Things like only having 4 people in a match or, no tornado tag matches are what confused me.
@passman36 I was more speaking to the overall consensus that, unlike you, would jump to putting THESE 2 against each other, rather than one of WWE's earlier games. They did the same with the TNA game, which, makes this game look godlike, and whatever 2k entry they were up to at the time. It's not even close to fair, and I think they prioritized "fun arcade pick up" over polished AAA title. Which is painfully obvious, but here we are. I do agree about the lack of match types.
@@King-mg7vy ah okay I got ya. No harm no foul. I understand now. I completely agree with you. I even thought having Kenny omega help oversee the development would be good for the game. Being that he loves wrestling games.
Man this is hardly a fair match up lol- and I’m not at all a 2K fanboy I want there to be another good wrestling game alternative and give 2K a run for their money
I like the old-school vibes with updated Macanics in fight forever. I feel like it's easy to pick up and hard to master. that being said there are a lot of small things that add up to so major annoyance. WWE 2k23 I haven't tried yet. but i was ready for something new. Ultimately it's all about how much fun you can have with a couple buddies in the same room. and both are great for that.
The AEW game is great bell to bell and I mean that literally. Like the in match game play is great. Its fast and punchy. Outside of that it falls so hard, so fast. How come I can do a tornado tag match on my n64 games but can't in fight forever? It feels like the WWE games 10 years ago had more features to them. Fight Forever feels very very rushed and way overpriced.
I'm more into the sim style of 2k I mean fight forever just looks too goofy (yes I grew up during the no mercy days it's just not fun or engaging anymore).
I completely understand. Both have their place. I too like the sim experience of WWE. It just feels more authentic and the way some matches play out are amazing. I’m actually glad with the direction of that WWE 2k has been going since 2k22.
I think wwe 2k23 is better because you have way more options and I tried AEW but it had a lot of issues and less wrestlers and least belts and it didn’t play right
I agree with every point. I was so confused about how they could launch the game with so few match types. I don't know if it was rushed or what. I hope they can address some of those things with patches soon. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt this time. But ill expect a lot more their next time around.
im sorry but i hated AEW i dont like the arcade style of wrestling maybe it's because I've played WWE for so long but it lacks good graphics and so much to be desired in the game modes.
No need to apologize. It's your opinion. I understand where your coming from. The graphics aren't a bother to me. However the lack of game modes and matches are my biggest problem, The Arcady style is fun to me as it offers a good change of pace. But i prefer wwe games at the moment. Ill give them a bit more time to grow
See what people don't understand how AEW FF is fast pace and Arcade feel is how their wrestling is in real life! Wrestlers like Lucha Brothers, Pac, Sammy, Orange Cassidy and others their styles are fast pace and may not look to great trying to make that game Sim!
I agree with you. One of the things im impressed with is how well they captured Orange Cassidy. He by far has been my favorite wrestler to play with. But I think AEW FF is fine. If they continue to add content it will be great. And it's a nice change of pace from the WWE games.
But can you really compare, being that WWE had time and years to develop their games, every since the NES days vs AEW first game. For all we know AEW probably just wanted to see how the game will do before putting more into the game...
I'm tired of the Bullshit, if you can do just about anything on and Grand theft game wrestling games should be the same. You should be able to fight in the crowd, backstage and outside in the parking lot, I'm just saying.
In my opinion aew looks more smoother of a game I haven't played it yet but have played wwe. Looks wise graphics obviously wwe takes that. GAME MACANIC wise aew all the way. The only thing I can't see myself liking about aew is the fact that besides road to elite there really isn't anything else to do. And the campaign is 2 hours tops. If they had a mode kinda like my universe in wwe or my Gm this be even better then it is. I can't see myself spending 63$ on a game to play 1v1 arcade mode it will get old fast I like campaigns I like like universe mode or my Gm ok here wrestle the ai match over do it again it would get old fast and clearly has thats why people saying it died
I totally understand where your coming from. Id definitely recommends waiting on a sale. The gameplay isn't the problem. I feel like its the replayability. And like you said it's because it lacks modes and match types. But it is a blast to play
I agree with you. 2k22 was a big change from 2k20. And 2k23 is more so just refining what they did in 2k22. It's the same as a sports game. Unless you want the absolute latest rosters of wrestlers and wargames match type. You can certainly skip this one. But I do believe 2k23 is on sale right now. Ironically they go on sale when AEW FF releases lol
A key thing people are not mentioning that is a game changer is the a.i. tendency and sliders. That is a big game changer. You can change the way wrestlers perform in 2k23 and you could not in 2k22.
Both games suck balls. The reason why is because the pin system and reversal system. It kills the entire match. Aew is overall better but the pin system will let u lose off a stupid chop. While wwe sucks because the have a guessing game style which makes it to where u only can spam a couple moves until they get stunned ... Bruh 2k19 is the best. Playing offline is the best way to play these but its not fun that way. So wwe needs to fix the pin system reverseal and grapple system and the combo. Aew needs a new reverse and pin system
@@Hardylivesforever Agreed. The cross Rhodes luterally looks like your breaking their neck. Also the sound when a wrestler hits the map is super satisfying.

My fondest memories of wrestling games are on the N64. So I feel AEW would be more for me.
probably just get both.
Cant belive yall think ff is better then 2k i mean if you love arcade style games instead of the realistic feel then sure aew
we need a new cartoon wwe like we had a few years ago.
How can you put these two gamss neck to neck. We can't even run freely in AEW. 😊
Cant lie, the stiff running kinda ruined Fight Forever for me
aew is already a dead game should have brought up the steam charts alone and youll see why aew wont be forever... you get if you're lucky 100 people on at one time as for wwe 2k23 gets about 2400 or so online as of right now there are more people on wwe 2k23 in the morning than aew has ever had at a peak that should tell anyone where aew fight forever is heading it will not be updated longer than a year they will not be able to afford it
The wrestling code could be more equal to 2k
great vid
Hey, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I wish wwe had thumb tacs
In my opinion aew takes the cake wwe 2k is lacking gameplay and 2k is just focused on realistic
I’ve enjoyed both games, they need to fix CM Punks nose on AEW though 🤣
Haha i never paid attention to it. Now I feel like i need to go look at it. I enjoying the game as well though. Its really fun
someone on youtube create different wwe wresters past and presents
aew ff looks like its a fun game to play i hope it does well and that yukes update the game
for me i prefer the wwe games i like the gameplay the full entrances etc and it has universe mode
Totally understand. FF is certainly fun. And I understand their approach. Wanting the game to be faster pace etc. But like you I wish there was full intros and more game modes to play
@passman36 they wanted AEW FF fast pace because AEW in real life is fast pace action!
....A month late..Fight for forever has run outta steam
Not nearly enough content fast enough
And I honestly don’t care for the recycled commentary I’d rather just hear music in the background like how here comes the pain was
As a matter of fact, even better, give us a choice, whether we want to hear the commentary or hear music in the background
I cant believe that i actually gave money for AEW FF. I already had some wrestling games from 2007, why i bought another one!?!?
Maybe the excitement to finally play something different than wwe games?
@@passman36 as a huge AEW fan i was really excited about this one. I`ve been playing like two hours and i feel already bored to death
I big fan with WWE
Simple; get AEW when it's $20 and 2k23 when it's on sale with all DLC
Wwe is overall the better game 😭😭 no debate
ECW !!
You can't even compare the 2, AEW Fight Forever sucks lol its a Ps3 game in 2023.
Ahhhh man harsh words lol. But i do wonder how yukes went so far backwards with the development of this game
@@passman36 Oh yeah bro everybody likes something different about wrestling so I'm glad we have a game that speaks to different styles of fans.
I think wwe 2k23 is better because you have way more options and I tried AEW but it had a lot of issues and less wrestlers and least belts and it didn’t play right
And thank you for the video
I agree with every point. I was so confused about how they could launch the game with so few match types. I don't know if it was rushed or what. I hope they can address some of those things with patches soon. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt this time. But ill expect a lot more their next time around.
@@zachw8413 Thank you. i hope you enjoyed.
Yes me to man
There is no verses. 2k wipes its ass with AEW
im sorry but i hated AEW i dont like the arcade style of wrestling maybe it's because I've played WWE for so long but it lacks good graphics and so much to be desired in the game modes.
Watching them on TV is one thing but so far my father and I has been to three Live AEW shows and the action is faster than a WWE Live Event!
@@Lonnyboss70 Thats on my bucket list. Ive seen many WWE shows. But i havent had the chance to check AEW out yet.
@passman36 I took my dad to 3 of them, he loves it!
But can you really compare, being that WWE had time and years to develop their games, every since the NES days vs AEW first game. For all we know AEW probably just wanted to see how the game will do before putting more into the game...
Aew game sucks
I'm tired of the Bullshit, if you can do just about anything on and Grand theft game wrestling games should be the same. You should be able to fight in the crowd, backstage and outside in the parking lot, I'm just saying.
Both games suck crappy backstage
It isn't even close. AEW Fight Forever is one of the worst wrestling games of all time.
If you already have WWE 2k22 then id recommend AEW, 23 isnt worth the upgrade
I agree with you. 2k22 was a big change from 2k20. And 2k23 is more so just refining what they did in 2k22. It's the same as a sports game. Unless you want the absolute latest rosters of wrestlers and wargames match type. You can certainly skip this one. But I do believe 2k23 is on sale right now. Ironically they go on sale when AEW FF releases lol
A key thing people are not mentioning that is a game changer is the a.i. tendency and sliders. That is a big game changer. You can change the way wrestlers perform in 2k23 and you could not in 2k22.
Aew ff not worth investing in until next game this game was a flop
This is how I think of it. Gameplay: AEW>WWE. Multiplayer: AEW>WWE. Everything else: WWE>AEW
Aew is better
AEW fight forever is much better...2k23 becones boring after a week
Are you serious aew ff is the most boring wrestling game out why you think it flop.
3 years to make a 2.0 wcw nitro😂😂😂😂
Both games suck balls. The reason why is because the pin system and reversal system. It kills the entire match. Aew is overall better but the pin system will let u lose off a stupid chop. While wwe sucks because the have a guessing game style which makes it to where u only can spam a couple moves until they get stunned ... Bruh 2k19 is the best. Playing offline is the best way to play these but its not fun that way. So wwe needs to fix the pin system reverseal and grapple system and the combo. Aew needs a new reverse and pin system
I enjoy AEW much more
What parts do you enjoy more? is it just the gameplay or how quickly the game moves. I enjoy the gameplay the most.
Yes AEW FF needs to beef up more but the gameplay is way better than WWE 2k!
Aew game is smooth and fast
Also the finishers feels big impact and painful
@@Hardylivesforever Agreed. The cross Rhodes luterally looks like your breaking their neck. Also the sound when a wrestler hits the map is super satisfying.
@@passman36the cross Rhodes in 2k23 is mid
AEW is better
Both are good :)
AEW is better for casuals.
@@Raiders-wm5kbI was about getting the games but im still waiting for the Brady Wyatt DLC to come out man
