Haha so do NOT do it twice after you're already in the DEf mode. Doing it twice is literally how you change it from y to n and select at the same time. So I did just reset all my settings. Fortunately I do remember all the settings I customise mine to so I just went ahead and went through one by one and changed it back to how I want it.
The settings I do are adjust the pedal assist curve so it's more parabolic so I can gradually speed up my throttle by holding down my throttle and press the plus button and it feels more natural than a straight curve plus naturally the highest setting for pedal assist is by default 95 so I set to 5=100 4=88 3 =50 2=25 1=20 0=disabled.
For Cur I set it from 20 to max which in mine is 25.
For back-light which is in menu layer 1, I set it to low since the bike has a really nice display that's clear enough that the lowest setting is perfectly bright enough for me. Jasion is weird as I'll explain below since they'll go all out in quality but there's a certain prototype / loss leader approach to their branding... So the display is top notch as is everything else. The cable management is as good as hey bike since its exactly the same.
So besides upping the current, re calibrating the pedal assist curve, lowering the screen to the lowest setting since its a very hihh quality virtually amoled screen. If I were to give them a suggestion I'd suggest they use the ultra strong ruggedised and light refractive displays dedicated hiker GPSs and even the game boy advance had where under direct sunlight the back light could be completely off and the sunlight brightens the screen vs washing it out. Bikes are out door practical machines so color accuracy etc doesn't really matter. Or if they keep the screen as it is it seems like they're adding an app anyway so it'd be cool to be able to change the color theme so there's a daylight and nighttime mode. But beggar can't be choosers and I'm glad they chose the night time mode with the black background colored metrics. That works fine during the day time though for day time inverting it so the back is white and the speedometer for instance is black would be more natural and its a full on surprisingly high res screen.
I added a mini wifi cam to mine, but they can do the same with a pin hole at the chin of the display so I can see if anyone is messing with my bike by connecting to its wifi cam. Adding a compass to the display would also be a cheap and nice touch or if not a clock at the opposing side of the battery icon. A light click on the horn should sound like a bell since I really don't like blaring a horn when I'm behind 3 old ladies, but being able to hold it down to cause a horn would be the same as just sampling the beginning of the born and playing it straight as a square wave. So it would by default be a bell but when held down would still sound like a digital horn that can be blared.
About Jasion from my research story and shout out and fist bump to Jasion:
Jasion is an American subsidiary of heybike which is cool since you get American customer support which is top notch. (during the cyclone I plugged my bike in while in my shed but the battery I had was the in betweener. They went from the midi style 3 prong connector with a triangular patch covering all the port to the extra rugged blades and teeth connector. The one in between has water tight connectors for each individually and I suspect they knew the power cover needed to be more rugged since they went from a soft plastic, same as the usb cover to a harder more rugged cover for the power plug which also has a sleeve that covers the actual prong to the prong doesn't get any humidity or droplets on it. Since the original was just a front cover the prong managed to get wet as I rode through the 1st bomb cyclone. When I removed the cover either there was aluminium dust in the humid air or maybe I touched something so when I remove the power cover I suspect some water or dusty air got in so as I was a few mm from plugging it in it arced so loud and hot it completely destroyed the jack as if I used an arc welder on it
The power input is spaced from the battery pack and molded together with the way the battery is designed is very safe. I really like how the power i/o and key are spaced apart from the batteries themselves enough that even if there's a fault with the circuitry the batteries are far away covered and safe even from a very powder electric arc strong enough to completely melt the prong and fry the IC board.
I've seen battery builds where the power input is right next up tight against a battery which definitely would have caused an explosion so THANK YOU JASION.
I called in and explained they asked for my warranty number ie serial etc and had me take pictures of the battery. About a week later they sent me the newest model with the rugged Blade connector AND the power cover is now a harder plastic with a sleeve that covers the port itself keeping it dry and air tight. So I can't just flick open the cover anymore and it requires a deliberate pull outward to open the port jack versus just the flick off cover.
The new battery also has 1 more screw on the bottom so I suspect they also made it more air tight. I'm glad to see there still improving everything incrementally vs just buying 3rd party pre-made batteries. I'm virtually certain jasion is the American presence of hey bike where they have 2 to 3 bikes they can focus all their support on while using it as a prototype or even loss leader I e the heybike Mars became the Jasion eb7 which became the heybike Tyson. Then as soon as the Tyson was released the EB7 which literally looks like the factory prototype of the heybike Tyson in every way, went on clearance where you can get 2 for the price of 1. Kinda jealous I didn't wait but I still love my Eb5 and will be getting the Tyson. I'm giving jasion some time to see what they come out with next, I suspect it'll be a ruggedized eb5 that folds a stronger motor or 2x2 or a cargo bike since I can't imagine them already doing a Tyson 1.5. But if they do do a Tyson 1.5 I'd rather buy it from jasion just like I'd rather buy the Tyson from jasion.

Awesome! Yea I wish there wasn't so much confusion between the more open source stuff and the sruff that's branded and needs to be jail broken. I actually really like heybike but gonna get American next, something like a cynch 2 Foldable by i think Aventon. Jasion is a great subsidiary of hey bike and they have a good system going on where they basically prototype stuff here and finish it there but then once you nail break it to unlock the California speed lock you find all these other features.
Im suspecting they don't have a technical writer to explain how to configure things past p2 but there are so many options that would make the bike better for everyone. My bike has a pin log in system that has to be enabled. When you turn the bike on it prompts you with a log in screen and if you guess too many times it just turns off.
Why wouldn't that be a normal feature? It's great as theft deterrence since someone who sits on it will turn it on and be greeted either with full controls or a pin log in screen. Which would make you feel less inclined to steal the bike?
It also had 0-7, which is actually 8. That's a lot to have to change through especially since on a torque sensor bike tapping on the brake but not feathering ie contacting with the brake pads/disc at all automatically "down shifts" to 0 from however high you are so now I have it on a j curve where 1 is for cruising with a pedestrian, 2 is for regular riding on the sidewalk, 3 is for slow traffic 4 is for faster traffic and 5 is just maxed out. There's no need for a 0.
You can also adjust the sensitivity of your torque so you don't accidentally blast off if you forget and leave it on 5.
A J curve just makes more sense and feels more natural and you reach whatever speed between pedaling and shifting much more easily.
I also find myself never using 1st gear so I changed my gear shift so so the lowest gear I can be in is 2nd since with a torque sensor any pedaling you do significantly saves power especially when you can tap your brakes to "down shift" to 0 to make a tight turn then release and your back at 5.
The interface isn't hard at all it just needs a manual but instead they just lock you out of p3 which is annoying. I had to befriend the guy working there and promise not to release the master pin but I can turn my bike on and toggle the pin through without looking in like 5 seconds.
The customer support of heybike having an American brand presence makes things awesome for service and warranty. One time my battery (which was pretty obviously one of the earlier models right after they introduced the much more sturdy and theft proof teeth and groove plug vs the midi style plug.
I was riding through some light rain and went into my garage and plugged the bike in over night since it was about time and I usually follow the 80 20 rule and top off if it hits 20 so the battery doesn't strain. On top of that you can modify the percentage vs volts so you can have the bike power down in an emergency and still have plenty of battery for your lights horns etc for the rest of your ride home which feels perfectly fine, but would be a big hassle if your battery died and so went your lights, sound, and the ability to keep your phone charged too.
Having a 10% reserve works fine for me and I can easily just pedal across the entire city or find the closest metro.
I wish there was an option to daisy chain your battery w/o need for an EQ box to keep them run into parallel which imo seems to be worse and does more of a tug of war thing between your batteries which I'm pretty sure isn't that great for it, I'd rather just choose to flip to my other battery and carry a half pack with me on longer trips.
I modded the horn so I have two now, one for the street that's the motorcycle one and a chirping one that strobes my headlights so I don't feel like an asshole when I'm behind a couple ladies on the sidewalk and the street is too packed.
Im experimenting with a sound effect thats activated by a light sensor. You can do a lot work a phone and a drone that you took apart and are just using for its sensors and extra 4 extra ac throttles.
You can fool the compass with a battery and just don't use the GPS. It's really helpful for creating a secondary map of your stops and tracking where you've been.
The camera makes a great dash cam too. I wanna start an ebike club and see how others are modding their bikes and trade tricks. I have an emergency tilt sensor that causes all my lights to blink which I think all bikes should have since a fallen bike should always be as visible as possible.
I also like that the drone works with Bixby to automate all my lights and stuff depending on the time of day and I can use my watch to see through the camera.
What I find fascinating is that I have a ton of hand made stuff on my bike including the front basket which I carry my headphones in and a back up pair and the lid just closes and clasps around a magnetic ring when I shut it and gravity keeps it closed. It's attached by rubber straps which allows it to float so when I hop a curb or something the basket doesn't fly open shake much but just kinda wavers. I have a little USB chargeable glow stick I keep blue on my left side as I'm riding and can flip to red if I need to signal or help direct traffic or something. I have all this stuff on my bike including a fix it kit, but also lots of color coordinated ornamentation and bling to make it look like skeletal motorcycle yet no one ever steals from my bike even when it would be so easy. The little flow stick thing is only held in place by a metal loop I made so I can draw it out really easily. The felt basket is obviously hand made and is black with a silver quick release magnetic clasp. Anyone can open the thing. I even have a lighter and a pack of squares in there and I've only hear compliments from people telling me good job on how nice I put it all together. The kick stand is spray painted neon orange then I added white stripes so it's like an upside down pylon when I'm using it at the side of the road and the light from the light stick leans outward and causes the blue halo, neon orange and white stripes causes an optical illusion through orange being the opposite of blue that makes it look like a smoldering fire.
I have a cup holder/spray can holder that's a mesh bag that's lined with bands to keep it round and I have a stack of magnets with a bunch of bbs in the front in cqse I need to use my sling shot which is a twist and a pull to release and it clips back in with two loops which also give me more leverage and control since the sling shot is also hand made. But no one steals that or even the bbs or the neodymium magnets. I have a bit speaker magnet on the bottom that's actually an actuator and can rumble my entire bike along with the music. Then there's the foldable cage in the back that I can unclasp and add saddle bags to. That's only held on by a bungee that's twice slip knotted to the front behind the seat. Anyone can pull the slip knot and take the entire bag which I keep even more sruff in.
I kinda have a theory that the more care / effort you put into something the more people don't see it as a thing to steal from but a complete package type thing. I hear people warn me or theft all the time but I only lock the front brake when I go into stores. Even if I used a chain there'd be nothing stopping anyone from just looting it for the tools, the airpods pro I mean, if I left those on the floor or even the light stick or even the lighter I bet someone would take it within minutes. I also have some bling on it that'd just a shiny chain and a bunch of carbiners of different sizes from a giant one to a bunch if matching smaller ones and no one seems to care to take any of that either and if I found a bunch of carbiners on the floor I'd take them. They're super handy little things.
Knock on wood, but either it's evidence of a theory I have about how a child left with crayons next to a mural would be less likely to scribble over the walls than if the walls were already randomly scribbled on or just empty.
I've seen people strip down bikes that look brand new for parts. I've seen people steal the bikes you rent and they find ways to charge them and bypass the security.
I kinda suspect they see the bike as a work in progress and don't want me to stop. I wonder if it wasn't obvious I was putting a lot of effort and work into it would people see it less as a work on progress thing and a labor of love that they'd feel bad to be the one to get me to stop working on it.
One time I was exiting a store and the homeless guy I was parked next to who had a bike went up and told me he was watching some other people watching my bike. I don't think any of them intended on doing anything but it was some kinda a buddy bystander syndrome / system since the guy was only telling me he noticed someone else looking at my bike and they could have been thinking the same thing about him since he had a bike and ekhkr have more reason to take stuff from mine.
Really weird. I don't know how theft deterrence works besides that. I do have a GPS on it and a camera but I'd have to be within wifi.

Oh sorry, I thought I was narrating. There's only up down and what I called the menu button which I thought was visibly shown as I was pressing it and demonstrating it. I don't know what to call it since it's just the top button and doesn't seem to have a name other than I guess irs function: select, or hold for back.
Theres "the button" then there's up and down. The rest of the buttons aren't involved unless as stated. I wish the buttons had names, some people have called the selector button the "i button" but I don't see why it's called that and it'd confuse people if I called it the "i button". Theres a line on the button, it doesn't look like any font though, it just looks like a line you'd add so that people could feel the center of the button. But maybe that's supposed to be an "i". I have no idea. There's no real uniformity across all bikes once they're set. The bottom button on mine is an eco button. I actually have no idea what it does. But I've seen it used for things that had nothing to do with being more eco in any way eco might be the beginning of a word. Lol.
Did you get the thing to reset? I can clarify in the description with a numbered step by step. But the entire video is just 3 buttons, up and down to select, and the other button which is select when pressed or back when pressed and held.
The reset combo is the menu or "i button" or the top button, whatever the one that is most like the top button in its behavior. Then there's just down while that button is held to activate the Def option. Then up is y and down is n. If its on y pressing "the button" will reset your software to factory defaults. If you press down or otherwise it says n pressing the button will NOT and will exit the same as if you were to press and hold the button to back out.

I can do a rundown. I commented on how I customised my bike. I also hacked the manufacture lock so now know the pass code to jailbreak the bike and add a startup pin as a security feature. I dunno why that feature is locked other than if you change the manufacturer lock and forget the code even the manufacturer can't help anymore.
