They used a different voice actress for the mod and re-read Laura's lines. If they could re-do that mod with Laura's voice using AI, holy mother of God that would be incredible. Just imagine the possibilities when it comes to new, mod created quest lines. Truly an infinite number of quests could be created with the original actor/actresses' voices, so it would even feel authentic. AI and machine learning is so damn cool. I'm looking forward to this being used in the future. This is so damn cool.

While I'm apprehensive about allowing the use of AI-generated voices and faces for financial gain by companies in the industry, I think it's an amazing opportunity for expansion via mods. We've had to settle for, let's be brutally honest here, *subpar* voice acting from fans up until this point. Occasionally we'll get someone who seems to be pretty good at it, but even then it doesn't fit in the game because in many cases voice actors have multiple roles in a single game and often span an entire series (the Elder Scrolls here being a prime example). The possibility that we can finally have genuine, believable voiced dialogue that fits the characters and world they're in is miraculous. There are still some edges needing sanding over (you have to tailor the voice a bit because sometimes the tone is inconsistent or too consistent in the wrong tone), but we're honestly right where we need to be for modders to start expanding our favorite games with additional content. It will finally feel *less* absurd. We can finally get mods that fix flaws in dialogue for games we love, endings that were terrible can be entirely rewritten. Endings that never happened can be designed and implemented in our favorite games. All we need is someone willing to try.
I think it would also actually free up voice actors from doing more mundane lines over and over, and also vary the same line when spoken often, such as greetings or repetitive lists of names such as items etc or even speak Player names or custom named items (maybe the players have to help tune the prononciations).
*OBJECTION!* That ass really isn't that great. I've seen PS1 models with more cake. Scratch that, the Klein Bottle has either infinitely more cake or infinitely less cake depending on how you look at it, but I doubt that it has less cake either way. I've seen MODOK depictions with more cake, and I'm not even talking about the NSFW art. The Daleks have more cake, in and out of suit. The Cybermen have more cake. Nardole obviously has more cake, why else would The Doctor bring him along, but even the TARDIS has more cake. Literally and metaphorically probably. The only probably being the literal BTdubs, and despite how much The Doctor probably loves (literal) cake, it's still much more iffy that the TARDIS has more literal cake than metaphorical cake when compared to that character.
I'mma have a discussion with our player character here and tell him he could potentially use even more cake. Some people just can't be satisfied with some juicy sweet rolls ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
