No country pays 90 or 80 percent in taxes. The highest, I believe is Sweden which pays 56% yet education is free as well as health care not to mention the standard of living/avg. income is much higher than that of the U.S. This isn't isolated either, when you look at these countries, these dolts call "socialist" they forget to mention, on average people are happier, paid more, have more days off than that of the US. If any country is falling off it's the US w/ their needless wars(Iraq), the incessant need to kowtow to Wall st & bankers alike at the expense of their citizens. Yet, we cont' to marginalize the middle class while corps & their interests distract the masses w/ issues of race & the Kardashians. What's worse, is this guy that spouted these numbers from his ass is more likely the ones that will benefit the most from a "European/socialist" system.
The problem with those Socialist countries such as Sweden is that their Socialist policies are failing them. They have mass immigrations of people from third world countries that leech of the system, and that system is starting to buckle under the weight. They have Somalians and Muslims that stay on their Welfare system and contribute NOTHING.
The U.S is also starting to buckle under the weight of dead beats that contribute shit to society. We have Welfare generations raising new generations of welfare recipients. We have people who can't even afford to feed themselves and yet they keep popping out children like a Pez Dispenser. You can't have a stable, growing economy on a Welfare State.
I do agree on much of what you said, we have Socialist programs that do work for the betterment of Society, but we need to end this Welfare State, we need to help people help themselves and STOP supporting people. You fail, you starve.
Capitalism just like Socialism looks great on paper, but when you throw a tyrannical Government and corrupt Corporatist into the mix they both fail. If anything, we should destroy the Corporate grip on this country, only way to do that is by prohibiting companies from getting too big by encouraging more competition and supporting and protecting the small business that provide those competitions.
Grendel Wolf I haven't been to Sweden in some time nor do I follow much of their current politic situation but if the sophistry on the right is as intense as it is here in the US than I imagine it's more likely rooted in fear mongering than facts. I agree, their is no perfect system but this idea that the world needs more unfettered capitalism is as ridicules as the suggestion that Scandinavian countries are communist or the very least socialist.
I back you 100% in respects to breaking the corp. grip/monopoly they have in politics, particularly the US. Once you peel the layers back you begin to see the pattern of corp. welfare/greed is more problematic than that of any immigration problem or that of the social safety net. It's easier to distract people as well as re-focus their vitriol to that of a people or person than is to assail faceless corp.

Jaron Stewart Are you certain about NY State & Fed is 60%? I'm not questioning the veracity of your claim but the numbers seem inflated. The state tax is 8.82 percent on taxable income of more than 500k & when you tally all the other taxes the one percent pay somewhere in the ballpark of 40%or slightly less. Nonetheless, I would support taxing the rich more than we do the indigent or middle class if congress were able to spend the money they have wisely. Unfortunately these dolts are either incompetent or willfully ignorant. This isn't a popular view among the O&A fans which is amusing since most are blue collar workers & are middle class, at best.

Where are you getting these stats from. Not questioning your integrity but the numbers seem suspect. Fraud is a problem which need to be be addressed but if addressing it is slashing programs which benefits the most needy of our citizens than I disagree wholeheartedly.
As of 2011 the estimated number of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. is 11.5 million & half are estimated to have records ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. Harvard did a recent study that shows "immigrants put more into the healthcare system than they take out." Google the quotations for the article which does link you to the study itself. The reality is, hospitals are more financially burdened by Americans who are under insured or not insured at all & as a result do not seek preventive care thus increasing the likelihood of suffering from sever illnesses that could have otherwise been easily remedied & as a result passing the exorbitant & needless bills onto taxpayers, There should be no reason that 18k Americans (citizens) die each year because they don't have health insurance. While many more suffer.(latter stats by Institute of Medicine.)
As for the disease they bring w/ them...we aren't Tripods from the novel, The War of The Worlds who have to worry about non-immunity. This sounds like a classic example of fear mongering & in reality there is no need for since we all agree there is an problem associated w/ illegal immigration. I'm also calling BS on "over 95% of Latino Gangs are composed of Illegals." This reminds of chain emails that go out w/ different variations but have one thing in common excessive fear mongering. Ironically, just yesterday I read an article which Snopes debunks some of these claims while confirming & or adding context to others. In closing our society must make it possible for old people not to fear the young or be deserted by them, for the test of a civilization is the way that it cares for its helpless members including our future...children. Unfortunately, our society is redeemed by increased quarterly profits even when it is at the expense of its citizens. I hope we forgo the latter & embrace the former.

If you live in e.g. New York you're basically paying the same amount. The taxes themselves might not be as high but it adds up when you pay healthcare insurance. Of course you have the 'option' to NOT pay insurance but that's not really an option for anyone with some sense of responsibility.

I am not saying the black community is not without fault however, If he wants to toot equality regarding stories in the media, he may want to lead by example.

I don't have the passion for this to put up an argument but I know almost for sure that what Anthony would say is that the reason people think "black male" when a crime is reported is because there is a much higher crime rate per male in the black community when it comes to robberies, murder, assault and those types of crimes. Maybe the reason people think "black male" when they hear about those crimes is the same reason they think "white male" when they hear about a kid being molested or a school shooting. Not because the media is overreporting and obsessing over black crime.
