I'm reading The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang (the german edition is 800 pages). Read The Poppy War in january and loved it, so I'm excited to continue
I'm looking forward to hopefully joining in. My possibilities are- The Lady Brewer of London by Karen Brooks, A Turn of Light (Night's Edge #1) by Julie E. Czerneda, Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices #3) by Cassandra Clare, Rhythm of War (The Stormlight Archive #4) by Brandon Sanderson, and Chain of Thorns (The Last Hours #3) by Cassandra Clare.
Yes! I'm so excited :D The only mammoth book I have on my shelves to read is technically more of a tome - it's Tomb of Sand by Geetanjali Shree at 739 pages, so it'll have to do :)
I'm so glad you're back for this! I'm being quite slow with my reads this year, but I've been feeling like reading something space opera, and I believe the ones I have in mind could be mammoths! I will check 😉 Looking forward for the future videos.
I've only got one mammoth on my TBR shelf: Ulysses by James Joyce. I don't think I'll be able to fully appreciate it if I try to read it in a month, but I can use this month for motivation to at least get started on it.
So great to see you again! I always amazed at how much reading you can do in a month. I have been reading Les Miserables since the beginning of the year, so that’s my Mammoth for awhile, but I will be cheering others on! 🦣
Hey Kelly! Why did I not know about the mammoth emoji until now?!?! I hope you're enjoying your journey with Les Miserables! The pacing is all over the place with that one, but it remains one of my favourite mammoths :)
I'm currently in the middle of a mammoth (Life and Fate by Vassily Grossman, highly recommended!) so I'll probably need a new one for March. I've been wanting to read Les Miserables for a while now so this might be the time!
Life and Fate is currently on my mammoth longlist, so your endorsement is strongly tempting me! 5 years in and I think Les Miserables is still my favourite mammoth I've read for this challenge :)
I wish you’d stick around! Ugh. I was waiting for you to discuss the mammoths last year and I kept checking back in. I love the way you talk about book and selfishly, I want you around.
I appreciate hearing that! I'm sorry I'm a bit of a phantom on RUclips these days, but thanks for sticking around. I plan on discussing my mammoths from last year in my TBR video soon :)
Alex, I miss your regular posts, but I'm glad to see you continue to support March of the Mammoths. I have participated for the last 3 years and its a bookish event I always look forward to. I've not made my selections for this year either.
That's awesome to hear you're still enjoying this event. The fun part about participating a few years in a row is getting to compare each year. I hope you settle on something good to read!
YAAAY!! I am so excited! I started making plans at the beginning of the year and will be filming a TBR soon c: Thanks for coming back for the even every year, it's always great to see you!
Amazing-- I'll need to check it out when you post! I love making tentative plans for March months in advance... and then changing my mind 100 times until the start date haha :)
Nice! I found the 5-part structure helped make that book feel shorter than it is, although the subject matter also slows it down at times. I hope you have a powerful reading experience!
I rarely, *rarely* read anything above 400 pages those days - but I happen to have one singular 820 pages book that has been sitting on my shelf for maybe 4 years now... This is the push I needed! Excited to see how this pans out!
Great to see you again! Trying to decide between two epic classics - war and peace or Les Miserables. Maybe I will start each one and see which one carries me forward
Love your enthusiasm for the written word. It’s good to see one of your rare videos pop up. This year I’ll be reading “The Last Chronicle of Barset” by Trollope. Best wishes for enjoying whichever Mammoth(s) you choose. 📖📚📚👀
Always great to see you Alex! In January I read Les Miserables and absolutely loved it and now I’m almost finished with The Eighth Life. It’s a fantastic read also. 😊
Starting your year off with Les Miserables must have been wonderful! I do have a copy of The Eighth Life on my TBR, so that is good to hear you enjoyed it!
Found you from your video from 4yrs ago! So, I’m glad you’re doing this again! Welcome back!!! I’ll have to find other creative names for the other months that are mammoth (big book) related so you make more videos. =)
I read two mammoths last year 👍 I love how you read exclusively mammoths during March. I think I will try that this year. I love me some big books. This is my favorite reading challenge for sure!
I'm reading Marjorie Morningstar by Herman Wouk, not quite 800 pages but I have some mammoths for later in the year. WILL YOU PLEASE post your best of 2022....I love following your reading anyway I can.....
I've been starting to think of books in the 700 pg range as mini-mammoths... still a hefty feat! And yes I definitely want to get a favourites video filmed sometime soon... I just need to stop changing my mind as to what my top 10 is! :)
Lingua Ignota! I read that the person who created the project is retiring it. While I would love to hear more, she wrote in an online statement that she was non-functional for several months as a result of the personal trauma she was revisiting/exorcising with her music. I first learned of Lingua Ignota through The Rita's "Toe Cleavage" cassette box set, to which she contributed source material. The person who works under The Rita moniker designed that shirt. If you haven't heard these already, you may enjoy Diamanda Galas or Pharmakon. If you like harsh noise, The Rita is top-shelf.
I felt like "Sinner Get Ready" fit the bill for an announcement video! I saw her show back in December and it was intense seeing her perform knowing how heavily this music weighs on her spirit. I hope she'll stick with music under a different moniker but we'll see! And I do love some Diamanda Galas, but I will be checking out Pharmakon pronto >:)
@@bigalbooksforever There's a brief set of hers on you tube performing at MOCAD. That's a great intro to what she does. All her albums are necessary listening as well.
Glad to see you back! I’m currently reading The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and The Sot-Weed Factor, so my mammoths started early. I think you would really enjoy Sot-Weed though! Going to be doing March of the Marmots with some shorter books as a result though
Yay! I've been looking forward to March hoping you would be back. So many mammoths on my shelves to choose from!! I just finished Eigth Life by Nino Haratischwili, and enjoyed it. It's a great read for winter. For March of the Mammoths I may add a bit of Canadian content to the challenge and select Fayne by Anne-Marie McDonald. 🇨🇦 Although Stalingrad by Vassily Grossman is calling out to me along with the Faerie Queene by Spencer.....big decisions!! Would love to see your 2022 Reading Highlights. (I have a Indigo Gift Card from Xmas that I have set aside awaiting your recommendations 😉)
Those all sound like excellent choices. I didn't realize Fayne was that long, but it sounds so good! Eighth Life is a possible contender for me for this year. I hope Indigo gets their website back up and running again soon :O
I always intend on participating and then get intimidated at the last minute. I’m really going to try this year! I have so many big books that I need to get to.
I hope that this will be your year! If it helps, I have had disastrous starts to this readathon in some previous years, but sometimes things settle down better midway through the month!
Definitely, that thing is a beast! I think I only made it to the halfway point of IT back when I tried to read it back in high school. I hope you enjoy the ending!
Yeah! I’ve been waiting for this announcement and although I don’t participate in many readathons anymore, this is one I always look forward to every year. 📚🦣

Still totally a brick of a book. It sounds like a fantastic read though! :)
Participated for the first time last year and have been looking forward to joining in this year as well!
Excellent! I've enjoyed every March so far, but some years are better than others. I hope this year goes well for you!
I'm tackling Lonesome Dove this year. Can't wait. 📚📚📚
I loved that book!
Amazing! I only ever hear good things about that one! :)
That is such a great novel. Youll never forget it.
I swear you will wish had another 800 pages left when you finish… ❤😊. Enjoy!
I'm so glad you're back for this! I'm being quite slow with my reads this year, but I've been feeling like reading something space opera, and I believe the ones I have in mind could be mammoths! I will check 😉 Looking forward for the future videos.
That sounds like a great plan! Good luck finding the right one :)

I am attempting to read Ulysses as well this month, so I hope you give it a try! Plus then you are also on-theme for the Irish readathon! :)
So great to see you again! I always amazed at how much reading you can do in a month. I have been reading Les Miserables since the beginning of the year, so that’s my Mammoth for awhile, but I will be cheering others on! 🦣

I've been a long time lurker and I've watched many of your past videos on this challenge. This year I'm going to go for it. War & Peace here I come!!
Exciting! That is definitely a Mega-Mammoth but so worth it! :)

Good luck tackling your mammoths. I have Cryptonomicon (910 pages) that has been on my shelf unread for too long.
My favourite booktube event. Tale of the Genji 2023.
Have fun! That is a mammoth I've been wanting to get to as well :)
It’s always great to see you again. I’m still trying to choose my mammoth.
It's a tough commitment process! 😓
Oh my gosh! It’s so good to see you! The Count is my pick! 📚😀
Classic choice! It is a fun one :)
i'm in! gonna be my first time, this should be fun
Glad to hear you're going to give it a go! I hope you pick something excellent! :)
Finally going to tackle 2666 by Robert Bolano this year! So nervous but also really excited!
Nice! I found the 5-part structure helped make that book feel shorter than it is, although the subject matter also slows it down at times. I hope you have a powerful reading experience!
That’s it. I’m tackling Kin by Miljenko Jergović. It’s about 900 pages and the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
That one looks so good!

Trying to decide between two epic classics - war and peace or Les Miserables. Maybe I will start each one and see which one carries me forward
Hey Dana! I'm curious to see which one you'll end up choosing! Both iconic, but very different from each other in terms of style.
I’m in! It’ll be my first time and I need to pick.
Haha, "mammoth season" makes me want to find an extra-long prehistoric hunting guide. And that probably doesn't exist, but it should!
Haha that would be amazing. If only Wikihow existed back then!!!
P. S. I ❤❤❤❤❤ your houndstooth chair! Lovely! It would probably be my favorite spot for reading!
The print doesn't really match with anything but it is at least a very comfortable chair! :)

i am slogging my way through middlemarch right now, so i think i'll just keep doing that!
Perfect! From what I remember, I feel like it picks up in the second half! :)
I was going to reread middlemarch since I've not read it in over 30yrs but the copies I've seen are just below 800 pages

Heyyyy! :)
I'm in -- Herodotus!
That will be incredible!
Middlemarch and Bleak House
Two of the best Victorian classics in one month-- that sounds amazing! :)
This is my push to finally read The Count of Monte Cristo.

this march i try to reread middlemarch
I have been really wanting to reread that as well... and Middlemarch in March is too perfect to pass up! :)
So GREAT to see you, again! Buddy reading Gaddis' _The Recognitions._ Also? _The Evening and the Morning,_ prequel to _Pillarsof the Earth._
