Hey guys, I’ve done an updated video on the Shure SLXD. It’s the main wireless I use for my wireless microphone system. Also, the SLX is now completely discontinued and only the SLXD is available. Here’s the new video: Shure SLX-D - AMAZING WIRELESS SYSTEM - Demo/Overview/Setup/Guide ruclips.net/video/_8rDMqAAe1A/видео.html
This is easily one of the best review videos I've ever watched. The information you provided and how you explained the different tiers of Shure systems, AMAZING, Thank You.
I am a singer and your video help me out a lot on which shure system to buy. I probably get the SLX or the SLXD system Thanks you were very informative.
Would you please make a separate in-depth video on the SLX-D system? I'm a worship leader at my church, and I'm trying to upgrade our mic system. I'm trying to get this particular system, and I need some more info. These shure system reviews have been excellent!
Thanks! Glad you’ve enjoyed the series. And yeah I do think I need to get an SLXD and do a full video. I need to find one I can borrow for a video. Until then, I think this other channel had a great video on the SLXD system: ruclips.net/video/bZ8kIh3mAPs/видео.html Definitely think the Slxd will be good for a church setup. Especially since you can get 2 in one rack 👍
This was a great explanation, thank you! I'm used to Sennheiser G3/G4 units with really wide bands (Aw+) that are all networked together...so I use WSM or Workbench to set them up on show days. But a friend of mine bought some of these and asked for help setting them up. Better believe I was scratching my head when every 'scan' yielded a 'full' message. So weird....ugh I hate cheap wireless. SLX-D's were certainly a huge improvement! You answered all my questions! :)
Thanks Scott. I am going to be installing the SLXD4D with the Beta 58 mics this week. Took forever to get delivery. An installer installed the SLXD4D with headsets in July and now I will do the hand mic versions with the dipole antenna-splitter. Your video will help to understand setup once installed. 🇨🇦 PS will you be doing the SLXD video as mentioned?
Yes, I did finally get one! So it’s on my list and it’s definitely worth it. I haven’t done it yet because of how bad the supply chain stuff is. I seriously couldn’t find it anywhere. Once it becomes more available again I’ll do the video 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic yes. No kidding about supply chain. Our product was ordered fall of 2021 and eventually was estimated for 2023. Then it showed up last week at the dealer. Incredible.
@@ScottUhlMusic I know. I have had an older version of beta 58a that was great. But when I have heard you talking about beta 87a and how it goes with your "bassier" voice, I am now contemplating to go with beta 87a, because I also have a deep, bassie voice. My only concern is that beta 87a is condenser. Can you tell me how it behaves on stage, on smaller gigs. With feedbacks and did you have any issue. I am going to sing R'n'R and Pop music. Thanks again.
@@dorijanschmidt6805 Beta 87a is supposed to be for using with wedges and the 87c is for if you are using in ear monitors. Yeah a condensor CAN get more feedback for sure. But it hasn't been a problem for me personally. It's a great mic.
Great video. Is there any problems with SLX working in the same environment as SLXD? I have a 20 mic environment of all SLX, but want to slowly transition to SLXD. Do you see any issues?
@@ScottUhlMusic Agree 100%, but can they exist together in a rack as long as the transmitters and receivers are from the right family and frequency range? Thanks.
I would NOT personally get the dual system. I purchased 2 separate SLX-D units in DIFFERENT bands that work for my city and the cities I play. What this allows you to do is use the RJ45 ports on both and get 2 bands of scan on wireless work bench (around 88-100 mzh bandwidth of scan). That way I can scan a range that includes my psm300’s which do not include an rj45 port for WWB…if you’re playing RF congested cities it’s AWESOME to have wireless work bench in your back pocket. Having 2 SLXD’s to scan a wide range of RF WITH WWB is far more worth it than the dual receiver IMO. It also allows you wider range to pickup future wireless and still have the ability to scan and place them outside of interference …a bit niche but it beats picking up the accient frequency scanner for $5k 😅
@@ScottUhlMusic yes! Hopefully what I said came across logical haha can’t go wrong with a dual system. I just love having the larger bandwidth scannable with an H55 band and J52 band SLXD in the rack! Allows me to use WBB for all our wireless as they fall in that range 🤘
Thanks, it helped me a lot! Is the slx2 beta87a wireless microphone a dynamic microphone, not a condenser? I understand that the wired beta87a is a condenser...
I believe the answer is no actually since they do not list it as a wireless option for the Slx. So you’ll have to go up to the slxd or qlxd for that. Although I honestly do not know why the capsule wouldn’t work on it. But I believe the answer is no
Voice is not coming from the mic even though both the receiver and mic are synchronized and are on the same channels. I started using it again after sometime and now it's troubling..Please help It's not showing ready as well and also antennas are disabled.Have tried everything.
They are usually pretty fast with responding when I’ve contacted Shure. They likely will have you send it in, so I would suggest having a backup option if you need one soon 👍 best of luck
I’m assuming that’s what you were asking when you meant “system.” I would watch this video if you don’t know about frequency bands: ruclips.net/video/3zuHC2m0l3s/видео.html If you meant “how many mics can I use per receiver,” it’s one microphone per receiver.
Hello, I have the SLX with beta 87A, I know that it's a condenser but is it normal for the audio signal on the receiver to peak to red when singing? Just wanted to make sure please
Hi Scott. I have the SLX4 and SM58 mic. I need a bodypack and lapel mic for a few upcoming weddings. Will the SLXD4 work with the discontinued SLX4 if theyre within the same frequency? Thank you in advance
@@ScottUhlMusic TX Scott yes I changed it to line level..but still pretty hot..when i get to soundcheck Ill crank amp for a more realistic test Thanks alot!
You cannot use an Slx transmitter with an slxd receiver and vise versa. But you can use multiple systems at once if that is what you are asking (an SLX full system and SLXD full system)
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks for the quick response. I then agree that the naming should've been different. SLX and SLXD would lead you to believe certain things. I guess the D might be short for Digital? but who knows.
I have the Shure SLX-D DUAL wireless system and can't get both mics to sync. I go through the steps with mic 1 and it works great. Then I attempt the sync process with mic 2 and it seems to delete everything I just did for mic 1. Bottom line, I can only get one of the two mics synced at the same time. I need BOTH mics for duets. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Do you know if the older slx mic would work with the slx-d reciever if they were on the same frequencies? I lost my mic at a gig but still have the reciever and can't get a replacement transmitter anywhere

Is the slx2 beta87a wireless microphone a dynamic microphone, not a condenser?
I understand that the wired beta87a is a condenser...
So my question is
Does slx2 beta87a need phantom power?
The beta87 is a condenser mic, yes. But if you use it with this wireless system, you don’t need to send phantom power to it
Can you add the ksm8 or 9 capsule on the six 2 mic ???
I believe the answer is no actually since they do not list it as a wireless option for the Slx. So you’ll have to go up to the slxd or qlxd for that. Although I honestly do not know why the capsule wouldn’t work on it. But I believe the answer is no

That sounds like something you should message Shure about. Hope you can get it resolved!
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks for the response. Are you sure they are going to be quick enough to resolve it?
@@ScottUhlMusic I asked you because I have the same system SLX4

How many mics can you use on each system
With SLX (regular) you can use up to 12 per frequency band. With the SLXD you can use up to 32 per frequency band.
I’m assuming that’s what you were asking when you meant “system.” I would watch this video if you don’t know about frequency bands: ruclips.net/video/3zuHC2m0l3s/видео.html
If you meant “how many mics can I use per receiver,” it’s one microphone per receiver.

No that’s not normal, I use these all the time. The slx shouldn’t be doing that. Try turning down the signal like I mentioned in the video.
Can you sync any Shure slx1 body pack to a slx4 receiver ?
Or just to the one that came with it when bought new ?
You can sync any Slx that is in the same frequency band 👍
Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity of these bodypack mics? Or does that come down to gain on the rec?
On the Slx body pack? You have the switch on the side to set it to 0 or -10 or mic 👍
So try both on the transmitter and receiver to get it right
Hi Scott. I have the SLX4 and SM58 mic. I need a bodypack and lapel mic for a few upcoming weddings. Will the SLXD4 work with the discontinued SLX4 if theyre within the same frequency? Thank you in advance
No, the digital one is different than the analog one 👍
Thank you Scott. I appreciate it 🙏
SLXD: Ive had to turn down the gain down to -18 to match what a guitar cable send DB wise..unless Im doing something wrong!?
Whatever sounds best for your setup, but it sounds like you need to set it to line level instead of mic
@@ScottUhlMusic TX Scott yes I changed it to line level..but still pretty hot..when i get to soundcheck Ill crank amp for a more realistic test Thanks alot!
can i cross us the slx and slx-d transmitter/ receivers will they play together?

Answered in your other comment on the other video 👍
Would you recommend the combination of shure slxd, blx4r and qlxd? I have the blx system.
Those should work just fine together, but again it all depends on the wireless environment. But that’s only 3 wireless at once so you should be good 👍
@scottuhlmusic do you know anything about the buttons on the SM58 not working? the connection is bad. is there a way to service this?
I would contact Shure to get that repaired
Do you know if the older slx mic would work with the slx-d reciever if they were on the same frequencies? I lost my mic at a gig but still have the reciever and can't get a replacement transmitter anywhere
No, they won’t unfortunately
@Scott Uhl ah that's a shame! Thanks for your reply 👍
