Whenever I watch a show I have this bad habit of watching scenes of seasons I'm not up to yet and spoiling it for myself. I actually watched this film right before I started season 2

I knew all about Emori and Murphy, Ontari and Murphy, Clarke and Lexa, Jasper dying, Monty and Harper dying, Maddie, everyone being friend-typer-people with Murphy. Jasper and Maya. Finn dying. All while I was on season 2. And I just started season 6 yesterday and already saw this video a few weeks ago
I also have a habit of googling things so in that scene where Raven and Murphy talk in 2x01 I actually googled whether he becomes nice.
And I actually knew about everyone shipping Bellarke before I even watched the show and didnt actually ship them myself until that scene with them on the last episode of season 2. The knocking on heaven's door one.

my guess is you attack the people you love dearest. he likes them all by now and likes himself more than the last seasons. and loves emori but not enough for it to effect him. thats why everyone else tried to kill themselves only the people they love.
On the book that clarke found it says that few are the ones who don't get affected by the effects so I guess he is one of those :) murphy rocks
towards the end of the season one of the lightborns ( i forgot who ) says that only the believers get effected. knowing murphy he didn't believe in anything, he just lived his life day to day trying to survive. i'm guessing that's why he never got effected.
