This is my go to recipe for years with the exception of an additional 1 Tablespoon cornstarch and 1 extra egg yolk. I use 1/2 cup sugar instead of 3/4 cup.
Pro tip. They actually use guittard chocolate chips and they never chill their chocolate chip cookies. I know other tips and tricks but I can’t say 🤐 Former mixer at Crumbl
I’m not a very good baker. I tried to make these for my lovely lady, but I ran into a problem. I’m using a hand mixer, and my creaming stages never really looked like yours. It’s almost like there was too much sugar and not enough butter. I mean I mixed it for probably 10 minutes but it never fully got to that creamy aerated look. I followed the amounts too. I’m not sure what I did wrong 😭 my dough looked like sand by the end 😂 EDIT: *UPDATE* I believe the issue was maybe that the butter was still just a little too chilled. Also, if anyone does go the hand mixer route and you end up with sandy dough? Add another egg. That honestly fixed most of my issues. I ended up with some very delicious cookies and a very happy lady:) thanks for the recipe!
Also, if you happen to see this, your listed recipe and the recipe on your site says you used baking powder too, but the video says baking soda. Again… I can’t tell you how new to baking I am 😂 Is the baking powder suppose to be in it? Or is it just the baking soda?
I am among those who unfortunately have not had a crumble cookie. I try to reproduce them based off of smell, the way they feel when I break or squeeze them, and some input from my husband. I have celiac so…it’s a bummer. I appreciate your videos! I have used many of your recipes and have converted them to GF. I recently opened a GF home bakery, so your tips and tricks along with all of your scientific explanations have been incredibly helpful. Thank you!
I just got turned on to crumbl cookies so I've only had a few but so far the sugar cookie base has blown me away. I'm not a big cookie person but dayum the cupcake flavors they have that has the basic sugar base and lots of frosting on top. Oof.. would love a copycat tor that to make for family.
Question, have you tried the crumbl cookies? I know some people can eat only a quarter of their cookies at a time bc they're so sweet. ☺️ If this recipe is sweeter than crumbl then I should add less. ☺️
I just left the one in Alpharetta Georgia and bought a variety 12 pack, I wasn’t impressed like super overwhelmed with any of them besides the key lime,, that was impressive
Love their cookies and am excited to try this recipe. During Thanksgiving, they had a Pumpkin Pie cookie that we fell in love with and are sad that we likely won't see it for another year. Any chance you figured out a copycat for that? :)
Good morning. Awesome video. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us. I am wondering if the dough can be frozen? I like to be ahead of the game for Christmas baking season. I love to fresh bake cookies (like within a couple days) to share with family and friends. Therefore I try to prepare multiple cookie dough recipes to freeze up and then do a power bake day. Either way I plan on adding this wonderful looking cookie recipe to the list of cookies I bake. Have a great day.
I LOVE how you tasted one, and then the other immediately after, and then the other...Hahah! You're hilarious. I love Crumbl's Choco chip and Sugar too!!! Thank you for your science, generosity, and humor. First time viewer and I know i will watch more of your channel! 🌈💗🍪
guys if you havent ever had a crumbl cookie DO NOT BUY they are sooooo good your money will go down the drain and your risk of diabetes is greatly increased
I’ve never heard or had those cookies. But will definitely be on the hunt to try them. Well I’ll make them as well lol. These look amazing and who doesn’t like a big cookie. 👏🏼👏🏼🤤🤤👍🏼
I did just as you and my butter and sugars never creamed like yours and when all done the dough was very dry. I added another egg. Cooking now. Hope for the best
I just watched a video where they used a Betty Cocker mix and added some extra's and I guess it was pretty spot on. I'm going to try that. It would be much easier.
Ok, I made these yesterday. First, they taste absolutely fantastic. Second, the cookies spread a little more than I wanted, so I have a question. Should I go right from the fridge to the oven? I let the dough sit overnight, and the dough balls were hard. I was concerned that they wouldn't spread at all, so I let them sit outside the fridge for about 30 minutes to soften up. Bad move?
I could fit 6 cookies comfortably on a wilton jelly roll pan. When they first came out of the oven i thought they were overly sweet, (fyi i took out a few tbsp of sugar when making them). When they cooled down the next day i thought they were quite delicious, except still too sweet. I wonder if i halve the sugar would it affect the consistency of the cookie? Also i would cut down the salt to a pinch, unless that alters the chemistry of the recipe as well.
Hi Liz! Can you explain why you use baking soda (not baking powder) when there is no acid to react with? I am afraid the cookies will have this alkaline baking soda taste.
That was my issue too, she pours in a “nice big amount of baking soda to make them nice and fluffy”… baking powder makes them fluffy, baking soda makes them spread. She doesn’t mention powder in her video however, it’s in the printed recipe. I use baking powder and a teeny bit of soda (1/4 tsp) and they come out nice and fluffy and thick and chewy. These are perfect
looking at texture I wonder if crumble mixes the butter with the flour first or cream some of the butter and mix the rest of the butter in with the flour like a biscuit so that you get the little crumbly bit why might be why they're called crumbl
I tasted Crumbl cookies! They are delicious!!! To me, Crumbl cookies tastes like they may have added shortening in their dough…. What do you think? I could be wrong.
Their ingredients don’t include any shortening, oddly. They’re just an extremely high-fat cookie with too little salt for the butter’s flavor to shine through. Basically they’re wasting butter. You could get exactly the same results from shortening with some water added.
Okay... this recipe is super good! slight crunch on the outside... soft and gooey on the inside. This gonna be my go-to recipe for CC cookies! Thanks. :)
I let the dough sit overnight and I think that was a mistake. They didn’t spread at all. Also the 5oz serving size seems too large, I weighed all ingredients and only got 7 cookies + a tad extra dough. I also used a large egg (over 2oz weight without shell) and ingredients were still really dry compared to yours. I added more egg white, but probably wasn’t enough. If I were to make them again, I’d probably make them 3.5oz size and not let them sit overnight.
Hey Liz I’m confused with your recipe. In the video you said baking soda and the ingredients description also says baking soda (2 1/2 teas), yet on your website your description has 1 teaspoon each of baking powder and baking soda. So which is it.
