You’d be surprised how many folks still hate black people, I’d figure it’d be way more apparent especially in 🇺🇸 that blacks as an entire community are obviously still more hated than anyone Jewish. Like an instant as soon as you see them type of hate because it’s so obvious in America because of the color of their skin. Both are wrong but don’t be so sure if yourself that folks would easily dismiss the genocide of blacks and as far as the President of Harvard being a black woman to even ask her that question would be an obvious issue so I doubt she’d even be ask your hypothetical question. But to insinuate definitively that across the board EVERY university President in the country or involved would answer with a resounding “yes” if it were blacks, shows just how unaware of things you really are in the 🇺🇸. I see on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis that they are still the most and tenured discriminated group of people in that country from their day 1 there. Systematically, judicially, educationally, financially, demographically, you name it, that in itself is a slow drag generational genocide for them in that country. The Jewish community propers in that country for the most part in all of those categories. So again don’t be too sure of yourself that people would be answering yes to that so confidently.

    • @Jmaters83

They did answer the question, and appropriately so. It's content dependent. Saying "intifada" does not automatically mean "kill the jews." Same goes for the chant of "from the River to the Sea." It's content dependent. And 90% of the time, it's NOT... I repeat NOT used within antisemitic content.

Did I hear this right? I swear they straight up said that in order for student's behavior to violate the codes of conduct, they would have to actually commit genocide. Until the students start killing, it's all just harmless free speech, and can't be punished. It's like arguing that if some people are getting together every night and talking about a planned bank robbery, they haven't done anything wrong until they show up at the bank with guns drawn. Talking about a planned bank robbery is not protected free speech, and neither is calling for the genocide of any group.

Anti-semitism is quite a unique concept. No where in the world have they created an entire word and category for the hate, or the questioning of a race of people, other than here!
And I find it more interesting that if someone admits that the Zionist launched a plan to use the Jews to annex land that doesn't belong to them. That is somehow Anti-Semitic. However, if you knew the history of Chaim Weizmann and his inner circle. These were elites who hated the working class, and used these people during a time of political upheaval, not to mention a time when Jews were being hunted. To launch an occupation campaign that was ultimately successful. And I have mad respect for pulling this whole thing off. But in the end, it only transferred power to the Elites. And they have done a horrible job governing their land. And by that, I mean they should have wiped Hamas from the face of the Earth back when it was formed! To allow them to operate unhindered as long as they have, makes me wonder what their goal was to allow a terrorist organization who wants to commit genocide to exist literally on their border.

It's absurd.

If Stefanik then asks if students will be punished for it, then you say you are investigating, which would be true if there were actual calls for genocide on campuses and those people were harassing Jewish students. If the Reps try to define intifada or "River to the sea" as calling for genocide, then you can argue that's not really what those phrases mean and protesting against a foreign country's government is not antisemitic. How is asking a loaded question to lead a witness considered good governance? That tactic is not tolerated in court, yet is the goto strategy by both sides in congressional hearings! I hear claims of "Genocide", I just don't see overwhelming evidence. We aren't really getting to heart of any matter from what I can see so far. A college campus is a place to share ideas, and to argue ideologies. But it seems that there are people who are claiming that certain speech means "This or That" instead of people asking for clarification. Personally, I would like to see this whole thing debated properly. Because I honestly think at least 90% of people think that Hamas is a terrorist organization! However, there are some who watch events and realize that the Zionist elites have done a piss poor job of governing their land! There is no reason that Bibi and his government should not have waged war on Hamas from the very start! It should have been priority #1 for the protection of the Jewish people, and the citizens of Israel to wipe out Hamas. The fact that they haven't scares me even more, because Hamas has never since their inception, changed their mission statement!

@@tobybigham4196 The point of the question is to (1) demonstrate the hypocrisy of these institutions and (2) highlight the allowance, no encouragement of anti-Semitism on campuses. Her unstated but clearly implied full statement is that if she were to replace "Jews" with "black people" or "Muslims" the answer from these presidents would have absolutely been different. Let me make it clear, that answer should never be different, no matter what group is targeted. A large part of the country has chosen some protected groups and equity presides over equality. It's a disgusting ideology and the more it's exposed, the more it will fall apart. The problem is that most people aren't paying attention or are happy to placate unless they are directly effected without realizing that eventually they will feel it as well. As a Jew I'm deeply disturbed by the obvious rise in public anti-Semitism and the lack of understanding of history. But I don't think this is about Israel or Jews, it's a wider problem of people with no sense of individualism and no respect for the institutions that provide them with the freedom that they have. The institutions that have provided equality and freedom, the ones that allowed my grandparents to rise from near nothing to success stories, that are currently threatened by these distorted ideals, are what we desperately need to preserve.

You say yes and then the follow up question of "are you expelling these students" can get into the context weeds of what constitutes actual antisemitism. Like protesting a foreign government doesn't equate to calling for genocide. Even saying that country shouldn't exist doesn't mean you want the people living there killed or displaced.
So their "context" response was better saved for later and they can push back against right wing redefinition of words like intifada, which they should be able to do if they are smart enough to be university presidents.

There is still such a thing as freedom of speech in America, even if the expressed idea is abhorrent. Threats and harrassment are not protected by free speech. The expression of an ideology, no matter how vile the ideology, must be protected in a truly free society. I am a proud Jew and despise calls of genocide against Jews, but as long as these calls are expressions of an idea and not threats of violence or acts of harrassment, I still uphold that notion that "I may disagree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
Threats against freedom of speech from all sides of the political spectrum are terrifying me in America today.

I too am a Jew bla bla my comment carries more weight because of it bla bla.
      A. It's not about freedom of speech as much as it is about the double standard and how universities nowadays are known for famously putting down free speech when it comes from conservatives and labeling even the smallest things like calling a trans woman a man as hate speech. If universities were at least consistent and said yeah it's ok to call for the genocide of Jews as well as black people or trans people then fine. If free speech is to allow calling for the murder of random civilians no matter who they are, then fine. But somehow it seems only ok if it's Jewish people.
      B. It's not actually really fine. I'm all for free speech and allowing mean and offensive things to be said. I think it's critical to allow it. But this is people calling for mass murder of Jews. I don't know why you would defend that, even just as a human. They're calling for you and me to be killed, and you can't speak for yourself but don't expect me to just go along with people wanting to kill me

If you sense an implicit trap in my question, perhaps that indicates an unwillingness to directly address the issue. A straightforward, thoughtful response places a burden of responsibility on the person asking the question, does it not? It's not about attacking anyone's character or motives - it's about having an open and honest dialogue. Does that seem reasonable?

@@jayce8001 no it actually is not when they were asked to investigate the matter by jewish students. When a university creates and uses a code of conduct yet blatantly disregards it when it comes to one thing, it can absolutely be investigated under discrimination of a protected class such as religion or race. They are not charging students for this speech, they are holding a university accountable to not enforcing a clear policy when it comes to jewish students who are being harassed and bullied. Again, I will sum this up for you. The speech itself is not under question by the government. It is the choice by Universities to ignore/allow a clear call to action of genocide against a protected class and their choices to invite speakers who use this language on campuses that get tax dollar funding. Please do some research and throw your biases out the window when making comments. It is clear you currently cant do that.
