40 seconds in and we're already talking about parallel universes. Tune in for agdq this winter where the TASers explain string theory.
dlǝɥ 'uʍop ǝpᴉsdn sᴉ ǝɯɐu ʎɯ I’m down.
@Zomg scoobie Stop banning me y u do dat?
WHY IS NO ONE HELPING THIS MAN, HIS NAME IS UPSIDE DOWN!!!!
@Zomg scoobie Stop banning me fine then, you angry piece of garbage, why did you say that?
@Zomg scoobie Stop banning me I ONLY TYPE THINGS LIKE THAT AS A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TAS is my favorite speedrunner, he beat every WR
I say he's a cheat
Nice snoo pfp
Yeah. I can't wait for a face reveal from him.
@@greenoftreeblackofblue6625 im not a cheater
@@smoceany9478 guys it's been confirmed.
We're living in a world where you can beat SM64 more quickly than you can beat the original Super Mario Bros. Whoa.
a 3D space creates many more bugs due to it being more complex also enables many more bugs related to speed and clipping
There are also bugs in Mario's extended moveset that allow for all of this. It all begins with the BLJ.
Shoutout to guy forgetting to disable sleep mode while on stage and live, we've all been there my fella. I couldn't do what you all are doing.
Mike G pretty sure he’s saying he couldn’t go up on stage live in front of thousands and thousands of people to present something like this
@Mike G You're just 7 shades of dickhead, aren't you?
@Mike G damn you're kind of a prick arent you? your shitty uncalled-for joke isn't even a good one - they specifically didn't go to the power options and move a slider lmfao
that second comment is really the cherry on a shit sundae, i want a whiny flailing alpha male rant of my own
@Mike G no fuck you bitch
@Mike G give me some toxicity i want to hear it
First we must build up speed for the entire GDQ event
But first, let's talk about Parallel Universes.
doot do doot doo dooooot~ doot do doot doo doooot
It is *CRITICALLY* important that you do this.
Your... avatar.... is...a thinking loss.... ffs man. 9/11, nice meme. I need to switch off my phone and sleep now.
Because good god have the last couple gdqs been shit
I really like the TAS block, it's a great look at the behind the scenes of speedrunning. It absolutely makes sense that they don't do TAS only stuff like Item Abuse, the focus of the event is Speedrunning, not what computers can do. If you want to know how to commentate a TAS run, start at 24:10.
37thherro? S agreed. Also, unpopular opinion, but I think DwangoAC is not the best commentator.
I don't know who this TAS guy is, but he sure can put on a show!
I bet my grandson is better !
The TAS guy is DwangoAC. He streams on twitch and has youtube videos
@@fornictist_thou7287 r/wooooooooooooosh
ikr this tas guy seems to be really good
If TAS can get wr on every game, why don’t I see them on leaderboard
jokes on you i already know all about parallel universes as a student of professor pannenkoek
try figuring out Portals in real life that's some confusing shit :P
I wish glitch researchers would also !!!regularly!!! get credit when their work is used in a TAS.
4:55 akchually ☝️
lol
22:29 akchually
Except they often do...
I'm at 96 subs, someone please help me get to 100
All of the hate towards TAS Block. Geez. Really it is freaking impressive as it is. Even if some things did not go as planned. They still worked...when they stopped working. Regardless. Someone or a team spent months putting the program together to get it this far to be shown off. Just so happens that there are hiccups big deal. What happens when you run a program live. I am impressed all the same.
i think everyone was impressed it's just unfair that princess got mercy killed and not kaizo
like we've gotten something completely new from tasblock and it gets mercy killed instead of reset like the kaizo run
Qardo there is hate? I was completely unaware of this
Yeah I felt bad for the princess got mercy run when his laptop went to sleep. All that work for one mistake :-(. Poor guy
The kaizo run does look cooler though and the princess one just hurts my eyes
@@snohohoho The mercy kill is because Hourglass is a much, much more inconsistent emulator since it is emulates windows games. I think they realized that they were likely going to get frequent desyncs and crashes from that point on and didn't want to take up too much time. I understand that it might rub the viewers the wrong way, but you have to understand that some emulators have more issues than others.
CRITICALLY IMPORTANT
I'm always having fun, when I see Videos like these. :)
Mercy killing Super Princess but not Mario was kinda unfair. We all love watching the ridiculous Mario runs but Princess was something new and fun to watch.
Super princess wasnt an introduction to the following run though. It's obviously a bummer but one was kinda meant to show off some tricks to introduce you to another more intense thing, the other was just a cool run
I honestly skipped it to watch Pokemon Yellow lol.
@@averagealoneredditor Yeah I skipped it too cuz it wasn't my thing.
2:28
That's insane. Everyone knows that one does not simply walk into moat door.
Parallel universes in 3, 2, 1...
Amazing. All the commentators did well, but the last commentator was the best. It was both entertaining and informative!
It was awesome watching this live :D
40:30
"are you mortal?"
"Huhuh I hope so"
I too long for the sweet release from this mortal coil.
I'm always impressed on the rng manip - remember this one run on which this japanese brain math game was run? they had to physically open up the handheld to short out the super capacitor to reset the real time clock - it's about the same how even security modules can be tampered with
if you want real true random you need some device which gets it from real world physical stuff like radioactive decay or even quantum effects - and this also only works if you can reinforce the circuit which uses it to actually use it (there's no way to make something real tamper proof - only tamper resistent)
Oh boy, another TASblock!
I have complained about too much arbitrary code execution in previous TAS Blocks, so this was great. Interesting TASes and good commentary. Too bad about the desyncs, but stuff happens.
I made a conscious decision to not do any ACE content for this event. I think you'll also like the direction we're going in for AGDQ 2019, although there's a *lot* of work left to do to get there.
TASBot is my favorite speedrunner.
But first we need to talk about parallel universes.
was this a pannenkoek reference?
Hunkn0w of course
No I invented
Pannen reference. Topmemes
A pancake man reference is a pancake man reference
You can't say it's only a half
TAS is like going from a crawl to light speed.
TASbot. So good, it can break any videogame.
"It's important to mention that in PU water doesn't exist"
TAS, we now go so fast we move past proven Quantum Mechanics
Thank you
Maybe I'm crazy but TAS guy is looking a little more buff and clean cut than usual. Lookin good man.
I do? Thanks! Yoga has been good for me. :) (Yeah, yeah, but it worked.)
2:44 Holy crap, that is incredible!
The future is now.
That's, like, a solid hour of commentary that I didn't understand a goddamn word of...
...And that was *after* we'd rehearsed for hours trying to figure out how on earth to explain all the technicalities of the runs. It's nearly incomprehensible. Edit: I mean, I'm the one that was in charge of commentary and even I admit that without knowledge of the game it's nearly impossible to keep up, but I'd welcome suggestions. :)
To be fair it does get better about half way through the video. Abbreviations and technical terms are not your friends, though.
Yeah that accent was thicc
I MISSED IT GODDD
thanks for uploading this. was not able to watch live and the twitch VOD kept breaking
Amazing.
Kaizo 3 restarts at 34:01
ahhh pannenkoek, you taught us well...
You can’t simply walk into moat-door.
The super mario guy was awesome.
anyone else notice the "ding." every 100 frames or so on the counter?
Mushrooms are one heck of a drug
21:00 I like how the bot named Pidgey TAS.
dude on the far left is sexy
yes...im talking about TASbot
has there any vids of TAS on Touhou Shumps?
am I the only one who would give tasbot a hug?
I give TASBot a hug sometimes. It's not a very warm embrace back, though...
I like when the bot makes mario just DAB
In 4 minutes he beat Mario 64...... I barely got through the haunted stage.
*Begins turning in his "gamer" title*
Someone needs to shave 2.6 seconds from that run. Then we would have the 420 JP 1-key dab run for _all_ of the memes.
that ROB is cool
I like how it takes less time to beat Mario 64 than Mario 1.
I wish they didn't kill the Princess Pitch run, especially after they restarted that Mario World Hack run.
oh well, still neat to watch.
Really cool how did they do this TAS? are they putting codes per Frames?
JP Tolentino a TAS allows them to put any controller input on specific frames
Oh hey Tikevin83
Oh hey :)
I think I get some of this TASBlock hate.
First TASblocks showed normal games, games people knew how they are played normally so seeing them be beaten weirdly was entertaining, and then they decided to had the code manipulations to do funny and even crazier stuff like pong in super mario world and the pokemon twitch connection.
This one had no code manipulation fun stuff and they mercy killed the normal game (which some people may not know, but at least it's more fresh than pokemon or mario world) and decided to reset the hack(seeing it beaten normally is already more entertaining, and most people probably never saw that).
This TASBlock did show what TASing is, but it lacked the usual oomph(I won't talk about the commentary because that's an issue with the guests and not Dwango himself) that older blocks had.
yeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyyeyeyahoo
impressionante!!!
No tanto. Son TAS.
DID MARIO JUST DAB?!?
Are you one of the guys who put together that amazing Brain Age TAS?
@@gairisiuil Yes.
xy2_ Wow, that thing was really good! I’ve watched it at least 10 times by now!
He dabbed before dabbing even existed.
Jake Paul has nothing on him.
i wonder if some of the developers of these mario games sometimes watch tas videos of there game and wonder what happened to there game
S a l z item abuse was made to be tased so yeah probably
@@Pr0tal yea ok i was more thinking about the old nintendo games like sm64 or people that made smw and now see what people did with there games.

Hey guys, what's RTA stand for?
Chris Toliver real time estimate for some reason they use A instead of E
It stands for Real Time Attack, and means a speedrun timed in real time, rather than recorded then timed. People use it to differentiate what a TAS run and a regular speedrun is though
Huge shoutouts to simpleflips
31:00
TASbot: You think you're safe?
The Yellow run from this event has since been improved to below 10 minutes via a new route!
ruclips.net/video/L9P82Owm4Kk/видео.html
I watch Mr A press himself, and I still barely understood this
This TASBot guy is great! He should make an Twitch account and stream himself speedrunning stuff.
Does he not?
TasBot bout to be my baby daddy
Shoutouts to pannenkoeken
Great speed runner, didn’t need hosts
12:57 Pokemon
Great balance between explanation and keeping up with whats actually on screen. Guy should be a sports announcer in his free time :P
cool
60 minutes of TAS?
You bet your ass!
Kaizo means pirate
3:04 The Dab.
Huh cheese!?!
the mario64 explanations could use some work. the run is too fast to try and explain with that much detail. shoulda just explained the concept without naming the exact button presses
As soon as I saw them all dab, I cringed like never before...
11:56 DESYNC
Miss the original coach from gdq =(
But first, we need to talk about P A R A L L E L U N I V E R S E S
P I K A
I've been listening for 3 minutes. Does ANYONE know what the hell that guy is talking about?
PUs and BLJs
2:37 *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap*
Still think showing the panga version of the item abuse 3 would of been cooler just because the intended strats are insane and far more fun to watch.
Yeah I agree
Yeah but it’s slower and seeing the mod, made to be tas only, have cheese was pretty fascinating
What’s TAS?
Tool assisted speedrun
i think that scripted runs like TAS deserve scripted commentary, trying to improv riff on something where everything that happens is already intended and predetermined always comes off as stiff and awkward when it really doesn't have to be
Chris Dimaculangan we are talking about stiff and awkward nerds and engineers. But I agree, I'm interested in the nerdy commentary.
That works here when it's really just the two people but i feel like during the actual events when there often people on the couch who are reacting genuinly, the unscripted style can work (doesn't always of course, but honestly i doubt written commentary would be guaranteed to work either, these guys aren't really writers first)
Scripted inputs deserve scripted commentary
Mario 64 one second over estimate DansGame Kappa
dude, how do you forget to disable the sleep settings? >.
ramiel555
IKR, like... first thing I do on a new PC
We ran a bank of tests with the pc plugged in the day before, it completely slipped my mind that I was unplugged on the stage. Also myriad technical difficulties with Hourglass prevented using the main stage pcs for playback.
Travis McGeehan
Ah, that makes sense...
How would you not know about pu's? Doesnt anyone else watch pannenkoek?
Phantom Soul it’s a huge crowd, not all of them are big or too keen on sm64 terms, some of them might not even speedrun any game or they stay within their own preferable games community
I know. Its just a joke
Same jokes from year to year
im excited for 7 year olds to be doing this as easy as TAS
"...that level was called .....heck..." seriously GDQ is so fricken strict the guy was worried about getting banned for saying hell I bet. God damn
Sometimes it's not their call. Some sponsors might have a problem with swearing, since they want to keep their brand PC. Or something, I don't really know. That's just my guess, at least. If someone has any other insight, I'd love to hear it.
they said bullet hell earlier in the video though...
It might just be called Heck...
also considering they literally have joked in the past about yellow cards and stuff like this generally it's not the "say fuck and get banned" stuff it's "repeatedly curse despite the rules/intentionally say hurtful things"
the whole "GDQ IS ALL SJW FACISTS" myth is so exaggerated and frustrating to watch considering some of the shit they've let slide.
Take note it was translated from Japanese...
Right, umm..
