Crewe Station (South end) on 2nd & 8th August 1991
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of the south end of platform 12 at Crewe station taken on 2nd and 8th August 1991. We see many diesel classes with more than it's fair share of class 31s on LE movements in and out of the depot and on mainline duties on the WCML The highlight for many was the 18.26 from Crewe the Llandudno - Derby service with a pair of 20s this was a very short lived substitution for a 158 scheduled service as I remember correctly (Or Incorrectly). This train was captured on tape on both of these visits. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

Wow, absolutely amazing video. I was gutted when it ended !!! Talk about bringing nostalgia back. Thsts how i remember Crewe. Always something moving off the depot. Locos changing, from Electric to Diesel or vice versa. First time i ever went was on sn overnighter via Carlile, with a mate of my dads and his mates (my friend and i were needed for the railcards) we were gobsmacked at how good it was. So much so a few years later my friends and i done exactly the same trip and they were blown away by how good it was. Crewe quite simply, was the Railway Mecca of its day. Many thanks for sharing this and to whoever said the 20s were on the Llandudno - Derby. Thank you i was wondering if they were on the Crewe - Nottingham turn because i'd got 37408 on that. Id got thwre and that was sat waiting, i asked a guard where it was going, when he told me, i ran to the ticket office and got a return to Derby. Happy Days.

I was on that Derby-Llandudno and back, can’t remember as it was so long ago why they replaced the 20’s at Crewe with 47150. Maybe due to an exam, as i believe different choppers went back.

Did 85101 appear here on her farewell tour of the summer? Having hammered up and down since 1960 it was finished.
