Dude, that was really slick how you fabricated that part. Can you tell me how it's holding up and did use any special hardener or epoxy? I found your channel a few days ago and I can't understand for the life of me why you two have less than 1k subscribers. You guys are great.
Hey Rich, thanks for watching, and thank you so much for the compliments. I can wager a guess as to why we don't have more subscribers, and my theory is that most people who watch RUclips sailing channels are stuck in a cubicle 9-5 watching and wishing they were doing what others are doing on the internet. They want to see sandy beaches and bikinis whilst they stare out their office window at snowdrifts. That's what get clicks. We do what we do because we have a goal, and we don't do Patreon or "buy us a beer", or whatever. Tomorrow, Jeni and I put on our "Big Boy Pants" and go back to work to pay for it all. Nothing special on the winch rehab, just a little "Mother Of Invention". The new (used) mainsheet winch works fantastic, and we've put her to the test in upwards of 28-30 knots so far. The only thing that little piece I made does is keep the tailing arm from spinning around as we're grinding the mainsheet. Just a 2-part epoxy of your choice with a little Cabosil mixed in to thicken it up a bit and give it some strength. Ya never know what you'll find at the Marine Consignment Store. Keep your eyes peeled and you may find something you can use.....
Amazing what a little common sense and ingenuity will save your bank account. Great job.
You're a wizard. Wish I had those skills and know how.
Thank you Rory, but I wouldn't give me that much credit. Sometimes and idea ends up working out in the end. Thanks for watching.
Great Job!!!
Thanks for watching. Now you can make obsolete parts for your winches out of epoxy and glass.
