    You give the impression that the ADP is a sacrificial diode and will need to be replaced if the alt is cut out at high amps. I think that you are incorrect in that the ADP just absorbes the load and can continue to do it's job even after the overload and does not need to be replaced. Can you clarify if this is correct? @@svrambleon Hi guys! We arrived in Ensenada just yesterday, where we've rented a slip at Hutchison EVC Cruiseport Marina for a month. We'll haul at Baja Naval sometime during our stay. We're already liking it here. Tomorrow, marina staff will shuttle us around town to handle immigration, port clearance, and a TIP. Everyone has been super friendly and helpful. It seems you dodged a bullet at Mission Bay that we did not. Apparently, there's been a large jib floating around below the surface of the anchorage for years. When departing there for Ensenada at 3 AM Friday, the engine suddenly stopped and we were adrift. Yes, we had wrapped our prop with that jib, and spent much of the day separating the two. Fortunately, there was no noticeable damage to prop, shaft, or transmission, and we were able to leave the following day for Mexico. As you enjoy the time of your lives, you're bringing many grateful viewers along with you. Thanks so much for that. Happy sails, Bill & Carolyn

    Great job on the staysail bag. I'm going to attempt to make the same bag for our jib. Just curious to know how you figured out what size to cut the round end piece. Did you take the length of the bag, from side to side, then figured for pi and add a bit for the seam? Hope this makes sense. Fair winds!

    • @svrambleon
      @svrambleon 2 месяца назад

      That’s exactly how I did it. We bundled up the sail in an old sheet as a template first to get the length and width we wanted, measured the leading edge where the front piece would attach, divide that by pi to get the diameter and by 2 to get the radius. I used a 1/2 inch seam allowance.

    I also purchased a serpentine belt kit from Balmar which did not fit the engine it is intended for. My engine is a Universal M25XP and on this engine, the drive pulley from the kit is intended to fit over the existing front balance wheel of the engine. My balance wheel has an outside diameter of 130mm / 5.12" but the pulley Balmar supplied was 64-thousants of an inch less than that. It appears that their "tolerance" is that they don't mind causing problems for others to fix as long as they get paid and take no responsibly for the part actually doing what it is intended to do. But on the bright side, I have a very pretty $450 paper weight on my desk.

    • @svrambleon
      @svrambleon 3 месяца назад

    • @haydenwatson7987
      @haydenwatson7987 3 месяца назад

      @@svrambleon Agreed, I for one am done with Balmar. It cost me $137 in tools and machine shop fees to correct Balmar's mistake and their response was the same as they gave you. The part is within our tolerance. I have heard from a Yanmar owner who also got the exact same response. They must have it written on a big banner on the wall. For the sake of others thinking switching to a multi-v belt, I found another supplier who verified all of the dimensions on his part with a digital caliper over the phone. Check out MSE Marine Smart Equipment. He even offered to sell me just the drive pulley which I would have jumped at if I had not just gotten back from the machine shop with my "fixed" Balmar junk.
