      Same here, popping off the bumper and core support cuts many hours off this job and no alignment needed afterward, same with the V6 Sorento. Also car can be pushed outside with front end off but cradle still in as there is often a back order on something you need for those.

    My 2015 Kia Sedona has 94k miles. Kia says the engine needs replaced but hasn’t yet given me a price. If I was the original owner it would be covered by warranty. But since I bought it one year old it’s on me to pay for everything. I was meticulously about the maintenance on this car. Loved it until now. I’ll never walk in to a Kia dealership again.

    Hey Bud thanks for the video! I see on your other video that you removed the "front rad support" instead of dropping the frame. Which method would you prefer on 4X4, removing the front rad support (splitting the engine and transmission) or drop the frame (drop both engine and transmission together)? Thanks in advance.

    • @WrenchingRyan
      @WrenchingRyan  2 года назад

      If you working on 4X4 and you have the equipment like the red table or equivalent I used I strongly recommend of dropping the subframe with engine and transmission in it a lot easier this way. I the other video you see I think other technician using the table so I have to do it in different method but dropping everything works best for me.

    What was the failure requiring replacement? Seems you went to the trouble of pulling the cams before deciding to replace the engine. I assume you saw something in the cams or valves that told you the engine was wrecked? I'm currently doing a major job on my 2015 Sedona. It had a head gasket leak. I read about block head bolt threads failing on some of these engines. I had two head bolts on each bank that were loose when disassembling. I've installed threaded inserts from Huhn Solutions, which seem to me to be better than Timeserts. I should get the heads back from the machine shop tomorrow. Hoping to have it all back together in a few days (I'm very slow compared to you). I currently have 125K miles on the engine and I'm hoping to get 100K more. Any comments or advice?

    My 2015 Kia Sedona only has 67,000
    I bought it in 2016 a lease trade in with 25,000 miles
    Ive been dealing with health issues in the past 3 years so ive barely drove my vehicle. But always keep my fluids topped off matience etc.
    Well ' i went to drive my car the week of Christmas 2 major Christmas shopping trips! No over heating etc. But my last trip my heat was going in and out blowing a harsh chemical smell.
    Kia couldn't get my car in until Feb 8th!!!
    I hadn't even drove my car at all. Because the weather is so cold. I cant drive without heat with arthritis!
    Kia place called me and Said Head Gasket is cracked???
    Went to pick it up today.
    Now its blowing white smoke and making a weird sound when i crank it!
    The service guy said take it across the street and sell it to Car Max! Well i couldn't because the car temperature went all the way to extreme. Now im having it towed home tonight....
    I just paid off the car!
    Any suggestions as to
    What i can do?
    If i have to head Gasket fixed? Could i still trade it in somewhere?
    Or am i screwed already?
    I really need advice?????
    Thanks 😊

    • @jmata2572
      @jmata2572 Год назад

      I am not a vehicle expert but gone through the same issue , I think the smell is from coolant leakage from head crack , Only option is change engine with a used engine from companies like LKQ or Junkyard like chucks auto from PA, Question is do you have money for engine replacement which will take almost $8000k, used engine alone cost $5000 plus then labour to put on the engine , In my case I don't have any other option , so put an engine from LKQ , as of today no problem , initially wetness under oil pan , but dealership told oil pressure switch was faulty ,Mine almost completed 12000 miles recently after engine replacement , Companies like Chuck auto give lifetime warranty if you are ready to pay , make sure you fully understand what offer they give before taking a decision .Never go for Remanufactured engine from any 3rd party vendors , they will take your money and will not stand behind the product ,Jungard is better bz there engine is original factory fit

      You sound really dumb. A kia engine pays around 5 hours for a 2.4L. Haven't done a sedona engine yet before but my guess is doesn't pay enough. HE IS TOUCHING HUNDREDS OF BOLTS AND NUTS YOU THINK EVERY TECH IS GONNA TORQUE EVERY SINGLE BOLT? If we did it would take weeks to put back together and get paid no MORE THAN 8 HOURS FOR THE WHOLE JOB. AND ALSO IF YOU STOP RUNNING YOUR MOUTH AND WATCH THE OTHER VIDEOS HE SNUGS UP THE WHEELS AND THAN USES A TORQUE WRENCH MR. KNOW IT ALL. Clearly you've never worked as a tech for a living since it's easy to talk and not actually experience it. We are paid by commission not hourly. Go troll somewhere else with your stupid comment.

      @@ronijr4918 Now who sounds stupid admitting you do shoddy workmanship! I rest my case, this is why if you have the knowledge do it yourself! Kia and every manufacturer specify torque settings for every nut and bolt and I agree not all are critical but some are. But so called technicians like you think it’s ok to rattle away with your impact tools with no regards and no idea how tight or loose a bolt is. I guess you have never had a wheel fall off because the bone head tech didn’t tighten or over tightened the lug nuts, because they were in a rush to move on to the next job. It’s never happened to me because I always torque them but it’s happened to many people I know who blindly thought the Stealerships people do good work.

      If the aircraft maintenance technicians worked like you guys, there would be planes falling from the sky left and right. They don’t because every single nut and bolt has to torqued, checked and double checked. That’s to save people’s lives. It should be no different in the vehicle repair because peoples lives could be at risk too.

      @@peterbutler904 Okay I'll take your word that you ain't clowning. But listen as a aviation technician you don't get paid " FLAT RATE AKA COMMISSION " you get paid a salary or hourly rate, so you can take a month playing dumb and taking naps. And for your 2nd concern " USE A TORQUE WRENCH ON EVERY BOLT " Well yes every car manufacturer needs torque specs for everything. Does that mean we have to torque the Air box, Headlight nut, Glove box nuts, blend door actuators, ignition coil, interior trims.Etc...? Yes any qualified tech will know ALWAYS USE A TORQUE WRENCH WITH CRITICAL COMPONENTS. Like when rebuild an engine, head gasket bolts etc. But for wheels we also have " Torque sticks " MANU SHOPS USE THOSE because it's within in specs. However if you paid attention he was doing a " Long block " meaning he only had to tighten bolts that are sizes "10,12,14mm in size and those don't require but 10-15Ft Lb. And just by using your hands and a wrench you can have a good feeling on how tight it is.
      P.S THE KIA STINGER I BELIEVE IT'S THE 3.3L YOU CAN'T EVEN USE A SOCKET AND RACHET, the only way to acces the drain plug is to use the thinnest WRENCH you have. So you tell me how can I torque something if my torque wrench doesn't even fit to begin with??
