      @@nuisance_carl is the oil drain going into your drain plug hole? I was thinking about doing that

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  2 года назад

      @@EurobaggedATL No, I have a separate bung for oil return. Draining to your oil drain plug can be done as a temporary solution with a top mount setup or with a scavenge pump. Absolutely don't do that with a bottom mount and gravity drain.

      I would read up on your car cause the M54B30 and B25 your engine are identical in dimension the only thing that separates them are internals. U can put a b30 cam and rods in a b25 close it up and you basically have a M54B30. Of course I kinda simplified it but that's basically how you'd do it. Check bimmerforums

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  2 года назад +1

      If you do top mount, you won't need anything scavenge pump related. For that spreadsheet, its lines 101 to 113 which will save you just shy of $500.

    I know e46s seem better for boosting because of the forged internals that come with it but everyone says they suck because their aluminum head is that really and issue compared to the m50? People push n54s and they are aluminum I don’t get it

  • @bradyhill8725
    @bradyhill8725 2 года назад

    I read on an e46 bottom mount build write up, that your drain plug needs to be sloping into the pan. I’m not sure how true that is, but it may be why you needed the pump

      All depends on the area. For example, I would NEVER take this car to Newport Beach, or Laguna Hills. That said, I just drive modestly, and if I do get pulled over, I’m completely honest and open.

    is there a supercharger route for the m54b30 instead of turbo?

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely, but most kits only offer moderate power (around 300whp or so). I really only went turbo over supercharger for the turbo noises. Otherwise a supercharger would have been perfect for my needs.

      I'd probably draw the line at 350whp for a B25. Some people have done more, but the higher HP you go, the more risk you're taking.

      @1slowf36 День назад

      @@nuisance_carl thanks for the input, 350whp is more than enough to drift my e39. 180hp is just a little too slow for the e39, it falls on its face in 2nd with 80psi in the rear.

      It’s probably around 300whp. There’s so many variables for making a reliable setup. Quality of the welder and fabrication. Quality of the tune, etc. the most reliable setup would be a kit, tuned by a reputable tuner.

    For the power you're running,why didn't you just save and buy an m3, $9000 to make about the same power doesn't make sense.
    You do know a stock m54b30 can handle 400hp on 98 pump,and more on e85, why are you running such low power

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  2 года назад +4

      Hindsight is always 20/20. Original plan with the car was 2jz swap which would be a waste with an m3. On top of that I’ve always wanted a boosted car.
      I do plan to have a map for more power, but only for the tracks that demand 4th gear. I don’t need 400 hp for the typical driving this car sees, so no point taking on additional wear and tear.

      I did say save up more,plus then you have resale value,spending 9k on car that in the end will sell for $2000-3000 just to run 300hp just doesn't seem logical,specially when you can daily it at 400 on pump.
